This is for all the M4M posters who have shared their experiences in Brazil. I just returned from a two week holiday in this beautiful country, and wanted to share my thoughts, tips, and experiences from my recent sojourn.

I have been more of a "lurker" than a poster (although I did post reviews on my trips to Budapest), but after briefly meeting the famous Trilingual and other posters in Rio, I felt I should become a "poster" regarding my trip.

Traveled from the States to Sao Paulo, where I stayed for five days (four nights) in the Avenida Paulista area at a VERY nice hotel. Secured a great rate thru connections. The hotel is located in the Jardins area - this is one of the best areas to stay in Sao Paulo.

Great restaurants (a Sao Paulo specialty), shopping, and gardens are a short walk away. Sao Paulo makes New York City seem small - although the buildings to not exceed 50 stories in height in most cases, they go on for MILES - as far as the eye can see.

I hired a guide thru the hotel (145 Reais for 4 hours) - a handsome guy named Luis. Drove me all over the city - and explained much of the history and politics of this great South American powerhouse. We went up to the top floor of the bank building modeled after the Empire State building in New York. What a view!

On my own, I toured the Museum of Art near my hotel, wandered different parts of the city, etc.

Now for the fun parts.

Thru the M4M site, I hired the infamous Bruno Gaucho for an overnight. He is a very handsome and friendly young man. He has bulked up some from his recent pics - looks great. He spent the night in my hotel - and is a caring and exciting sex partner - very versatile and very passionate.

He also called an escort agency in Rio for me (my Portuguese is very fundamental!) and I hired "Stallone" for an overnight in Rio (who turned out to be "Luis" from Point 202, but that's another story)

He is fascinated by aviation - pointed out all the helicopters flying throughout the city of Sao Paulo. Bruno also filled me in on his upcoming trip to the US - he really enjoyed his last trip, and meeting many of the men.

From Tri's original posting, I followed his directions to Thermas Lagoa - the infamous sauna in Sao Paulo. I first went to the location during mid day, to ensure I could find it. No problem - Tri's directions were perfect. I went back to the Jardins district for dinner, and returned to Lagoa that evening. What a mob of beautiful men! There were strip shows going on, and at least 60 - 70 sauna boys. All very good looking, and all different types. Even recognized a couple of them from Gay Videos. I watched the shows for an hour, then wandered around parts of the sauna - this place is huge. Did not indulge in any "cabine" time (although I was approached by several boys) as I was starting to get tired.

I did return the following night. Ran into a boy named "Eduardo" (although boy is a wrong term, as he is around 30 yrs old). I was not sexually interested in him, but his English was good. I ended up spending a couple of hours with him - I paid him 30 Reais (was this too much?) to give me the complete tour - he showed me the entire facility, including back rooms, etc. The Lagoa has expanded over the years - there are outside patios, pools, new cabines upstairs, weight rooms, massage and parlor rooms, TV lounges, a bar area with a glass shower on the side, where the boys can show off their wares, etc. Out of all the saunas I visited, this remains my favorite, as far as the facilities and the array of boys.

As stated earlier, I was approached several times. I followed the previous M4M posters advice on how to navigate around the sauna. You check in, get a key on a bracelet (or anklet if you prefer to wear it there), towels and flip flops. You can change at your locker, wrap the towel around you, keep the key around your wrist, and start cruising (or relaxing). There are some aggressive guys who will approach you right away - once again, the advice came in handy, and for the most part, I stayed away from some of them (although I discovered later, many of them are very nice!)

On my second night, after my tour, hanging out, watching bad (but fun!) singing in the lounge, I realized that once again, I was very tired (this is around midnight, and I wanted to catch the last metro home to my hotel).

By the way - some of the customers in the sauna come just for the singing and to relax - they remain in their street clothes.

I never explored a cabine with any of the (very!) good looking guys - my loss which I plan to rectify on my next trip to Sao Paulo.

However, I made up for this on my next stop on my holiday -

Rio!

(To be continued...................)

Nothing the matter with just getting the "feel" of the place before getting your feet wet, so to speak! The whole idea is to be comfortable with what you're doing, so you'll have a good time. I was at Estacao on Saturday and didn't rack up any cabine time, either. I just watched the show, took a sauna, visited with some of the guys and went on to Corujinha, because I was quite tired and wouldn't have gotten much out of a trip to the cabines with one of the boys.

From what I gathered when we met, you did make up for lost time in Rio, and I'm glad you enjoyed yourself here. It was nice meeting you, and I look forward to seeing you back in the U.S. when I get home. Assuming I don't throw all caution to the wind and fall totally in love here and never return. . .

What's the name of the hotel where you stayed while in Sao Paulo?

Yes, SP is purported to be the THIRD largest city in the world. When I traveled to Brasil in February/March of this year--the plane went from SF to Miami to SP to Rio. Before we initially landed in the SP area at the airport--our plane just kept traveling and traveling and traveling over the city which afforded us the chance to feel the magnificent expanse of this city. We viewed a variety of neighborhoods from the favelas to the very upscale ones...

I concluded just from this brief experience and from what some of the posters have previously written, that I definitely will need a guide when I venture there-- Artur or one of Carlo Romano's suggestions would definitely suffice.

Axiom:

Sorry for the late reply.

The hotel I stayed at in Sao Paulo was the Renaissance Sao Paulo on Alameda Santos (One block south of Avenida Paulista in the Jardins District). The metro stop was just one block up on Avenida Paulista - very easy.Secured a great rate thru some connections (I paid less than $90 per night v. rack rate of $240. The cheapest rate on the internet was around $180)

I hosted the infamous Bruno Gaucho at this hotel for an overnight - no problem bringing him up to my room (and I was on the concierge level, where you always pass the concierge receptionist)

The Renaissance is very nice - rooms are spacious, well appointed, large bathrooms; it is very much a business hotel. The hotel is very busy around 5 - 6:30pm and then quiets down. Airline crews are staying at the hotel now, as business is slow (economy in SP is struggling).

I agree with your observation: Sao Paulo is HUGE. I found the restaurants to be better quality overall than in Rio. Although I enjoyed Rio overall as a better holiday destination, if one has time, I recommend checking out Sao Paulo for a couple of days.

I will post my Rio experiences very soon.............

Wanted to continue with my Brazil experience.........

From Sao Paulo I flew to Rio - very easy 50 minute flight. Upon arrival I stayed at the Atlantico Hotel - ended up in a "10" room - suite. Included Living area, large bedroom, Jacuzzi Tub, Sauna, etc. - best part it faced the rear of the hotel, so no street noise - very quiet. I discovered this hotel thanks to all the great posters on this site. (And Rene, Silvestre, Americo and Samuel all provide great customer service!)

The first night I was in Rio, I headed for Point 202 (a 3 minute walk from the hotel). The Point is brand new, very spacious and very nice (my favorite along with Club 117).

The first night I went there was Friday and it was PACKED! There was a female impersonator from Sao Paulo, along with some dancers.

For those who know Kevin, he latched on to me the first minute of arrival. He is very sweet, VERY tenacious, and not my type. (As a matter of fact, his behavior continued, even with my kind refusals after several days.) Anyway - thanks to Tri and other posters comments, I learned to stay clear of very aggressive boys, and just scope out the sauna. As other posters stated, it has a good size central room with drinks and snacks, a large see-through shower area, where you can watch the boys get clean - saunas and additional showers are upstairs, and there is a small room with commericial TV and air-conditioning (which was great on this first night, with all the patrons, etc. it was very hot!)

Saturday night, I went to Club 117, where I hooked up with one of the boys - he is "completo" - I am "activo", so it all worked out. The only problem is he wanted $R100 after we agreed to $R50. (Lesson learned - this is the only time it happened with all the boys - I finally learned to be much more direct and emphatic with my pricing agreements!)Don't recall his name.

I ended up going to the sauna almost every night - on a couple of nights I took a "sauna break" and went out to some shows or to see the city. Love Bossa Nova music, so also came across some nice clubs where they play this.

Regarding the Saunas - I also hooked up with Luciano (at Club 117) - a very masculine, and mellow guy. He came to my hotel for an overnight - it was great - he is very versatile, and a wonderful sensuous lover.

I hired an escort for an overnight in Rio when I was in Sao Paulo (Bruno Gaucho helped with the phone call). I was eyeing a very hot guy in the Point the night before (Luis) and who turns out to be the escort - Luis! He is very understated, very hot, and also a versatile, sensuous lover (for pics, look under Tower Boy escorts on Gay Brazil.net website - he is under the name "Stallone" !!)

I had so much fun in the saunas, that on my last day there (I had a 9pm flight) - I even went back to the Point for one last tryst! As luck would have it, ran into a guy I lusted after the first night I was there (but who was all booked up!) - it was around 4:30pm and somewhat quiet. He is about 5'7" tall, with some tatoos, freckles on shoulders, well built, with light brown hair. One of the tatoos on his chest is of an Iguana. Sorry - I cannot recall his name.

I also visited Estacao a couple of times - fun, but my least favorite of all the saunas. When I went one night, there was a birthday celebration for the infamous Paco "Jabba the Hut". What a hoot - muscle boys, queens, etc. - with massive amounts of snacks, balloons, etc.

Also visited the Yellow Awning restaurant, but only a couple of times during "prime" evening hours. It was usually too crowded, and I didn't always want to wait for a table.

It was no problem traveling to Brazil alone - overall, I discovered most Brazilians to be fun loving, friendly, open.

I travel alone around the world most of the time, so it is not an issue for me - I have decided that when you travel alone, you are more open to the "natives" of the country you are a guest in. Most people (including me) are curious about other people, cultures, etc.

What can I say - I LOVE Brazil - I am now officialy under her spell!

Thanks again to Trilingual, Tomcal, Robb, Gringo, and all the other posters. With your guidance, narratives and sharing of experiences, you allowed this traveler to have a great time. (And Tri - it was so nice meeting you!) I am sorry I missed your soiree and the group fun and activities - I was leaving as many of you were arriving.

For those who are wondering about going to Brazil - get your toe out of the water and jump in - the water's WARM!

You will NOT regret it!
