It is amazing to me how hung up members seem to be on Brazil. I'm not downing it. Surely this country has much natural beauty and interesting things to see and do. But, let's face it, most of the posts deal with sex. And, Brazil is not cheap to get to.

You're right, many people have had great times in Bz and become serious advocates. The country occupies over 1/2 the entire continent of south america and has some of the most beautiful natural wonders in the world--the amazon forest, the pantanal & Iguacu Falls for starters. UNESCO has designated Salvadore as having the most complete collection of 16th century colonial architecture in the world. But hey, let's face it, this is an escort forum, so alot of the posts deal with the sex scene. Rio is just short of 5,000 miles from nyc, so you're taking a 10,000 mile flight. I just booked a flight for $500. Considering the distance, and the opportunity to find a real paradise for many people, the cost is actually not bad at all. This forum is devoted to all locations south of the USA, but I just haven't seen much information on other hot spots. Any recommendations?

Cajun, While the distance is the furthest except for Buenos Aires and Santiago of all the South of the Border Countries, the cost is relatively cheap to fly there. I have never paid more then $550, and twice got tickets for under $450. from Los Angeles by waiting until a month before the trip and watching the web sites. Also helps if you don't fly there during the "High" season (Dec. to Mar)I fly to Miami and NCY often and routinely pay more then that. Once you are there the cost of hotels/food etc. is very economical. Secondly, this site is called M4M escort reviews! So while we all appreciate other info regarding the sightseeing tours, places to visit, etc., it's not the primary focus of this forum. There are many other sites you can get the info. Such as Gayrio.com I don't believe the other Latin American countries have anything like the Suanas of Brazil which makes it so easy to find boys for sex! While there are escorts in the various countries such as Argentina, that you can find, there is not near the numbers or availability that there is in Brazil. In Mexico there are hustlers that work the "Blue Chairs" beach area, but in the times I have been there, never seems to be more then a couple and nothing that could compare with the guys you find in Brazil. There are guys that work the beach in Aculpulco, but again similiar situation to P.V. from what I saw. I have heard there are guys in Costa Rica but have never tried to meet anyone there as I have always been there with a BF at the times I was there.

Have got to say that Mexico is not my idea of a sex vacation spot. The country simply does not have the sophistication for it. Other than the resorts and large cities I know of no escorts.

 

Cancun escorts are a rip-off, demanding mucho denaro. Street hustlers there and elsewhere can be dangerous. more so than many places. Mexico City is no place to visit under any circumstances. The crime is serious and rampant.

 

Please do not misunderstand me. I like Mexico and spend a lot of time there. It is just not a primary place to look for gay sex.

 

Costa Rica is much better.

If you look at the archived posts, you'll also see that people have contributed information on the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Cuba, which can be "festive" vacation destinations. Spain, too, which isn't actually "South of the U.S.A." but is certainly Latin!

 

Brazil, by far, seems to have the best developed and most interesting gay scene in South America, which is why it's an easy place to visit. Argentina is close behind. The rest of the continent varies. There is gay life in all of the big capital cities, but on the whole it doesn't compare to Brazil or Buenos Aires. I've heard good things in the past about Caracas and Bogotá, but the current political situation in both Venezuela and Colombia make them questionable vacation choices. Santiago, Lima and Quito have fairly well developed gay scenes, but no escort saunas that I know of.

 

In most large Latin American cities, though, escorts can be found through the classified ads in the local papers, under headings like "masajistas," "relax", "acompañantes," or "servicios personales." Of course, you take your chances. The big advantage of the Brazilian saunas is that you get to see what you're getting before having to make a decision and pay someone. The hunk you've chosen may still be a bit of a let down in the privacy of a "cabine," but at least you know what he looks like and how well he's endowed, so you're not likely to be disappointed in that respect. Of course, lots of the guys in the saunas in Brazil are outstanding in the performance department, as well, so there are plenty of satisfied customers.

 

Another reason people like Brazil so much is that Brazilian culture is much less hung up on sex issues than Spanish-speaking culture. I do think people are more relaxed about such issues in the Spanish-speaking Caribbean countries, so I have to assume there's something about the African influence on the culture in that area (as well as in Brazil) that explains the difference. People aren't very hung up about sex in Spain, either, at least not in the big cities. I assume this is attributable to the influence of other European cultures and also to the desire to throw off all vestiges of the stifling moralism and conservative religiosity of the Franco dictatorship.

 

Anyway, those are just some observations about why Brazil seems to be such an appealing destination. But there are other places, too, and they can also be worth visiting!

I think that the theme of these message boards, "Escorts," naturally narrows the discussions. Without a doubt, the most highly developed and organized commercial escort scene South of the U.S. border is in Rio . . . the hustler saunas. Does Rio have a lock on good looking hustlers? I doubt it does. Many other destinations have hustlers and escorts, but those scene's aren't as well organized. Mexico, I think . . . is the best kept secret in the gay community in North America . . . but the professional hustler/escort scene is, overall, poorly organized, and of poor quality, from what I've observed. Mexico City has an extensive "escort" and "agency" scene, but the guys are asking US$100 and up for the hour. What a traveler experiences is different when the he doesn't speak the local language, than when he does . . . something I think people too often overlook (the important of language, that is). Sex for pay is available throughout Mexico, with Acapulco and Vallarta being the two best-known places to easily find it . . . with the gay beach at Acapulco being a "supermarket" of hustlers parading the beach, showing what they have, etc. However, there's so much free sex available in Mexico that the need to pay for it doesn't arise that often . . . at least not for me. Yes, the majority of guys who support this board are strongly biased in favor of Rio, and that might be intimidating to some who'd like to have other discussions . . . but, nobody's stopping anyone from posting other discussions from what I've seen.

I think that is a important point. The predominance of interest here will almost always here be on the for hire sex. I for one am not attractive enough to pick up a guy for sex. I'm sure there are others like me as well. Thats why I asked what you looked like. And I think a larger number of the readers of this board are more than attractive enough but are either too shy or inhibited to score some free sex. Even in countries where its very available. Probably the best thing the Brazil nuts have done is establish very well that anybody can come to Rio and get laid. Really great sex if even half of the stories are accurate. Even your 77 year old friend. Its stories like that that might inspire a not so confident older guy to give it a try. Or even a fat 39 year old guy like me.

 

I certainly don't want to diminish the cultural and social appeal of a warm and inviting place like Brazil. The key to the interest level here is the well organized and inexpensive commercial sex available.

 

I have often thought reading this site how much the saunas might be recapturing for some men the easy carefree always available kind of sex they had when they were younger or 30 lbs. lighter. I'm sure the guys who post here quite a bit are hot confident guys who can get sex whenever and wherever they want. On the other hand I get a sneaky feeling that a lot of the readers are interested in reliving their youth. Or, like me, sampling something I have never experienced.

Yes, there's a segment of the gay community that finds places like Rio, Thailand, Amsterdam (in the old days), Prague, etc. welcome destinations at which sex is served upon demand . . . yea, it's easy. But is it like reliving our yonger days spent in the bathhouses in the U.S? - I think not.

 

While some people may make mad passionate love with their hustlers in Rio . . . I think that the number who do is infantesimile as compared to the vast majority that likely are on the receiving end of a 30 minute mostly mechanical trist in a hot and sweaty room. I've been frequenting gay bathhouses in the U.S. for almost 30 years now . . . and I think the sex I have in them is, overall, superior to what I experienced in Rio. Yes, Rio is a novelty . . . and if you go do yourself a favor and see something of the city, surrounding area . . . and, if possible, other parts of Brazil. Most people enjoy novelties . . . but they know when it's time to go home!

And people dont have to reconsider visiting Brazil even they dont speak Spanish or Portuquese as you suggested. You said you have also visited Asian countries, I am sure you dont speak all of their languages either.

Try Acapulco. At the gay beach (Condesa)right in the center of town practically is a place called "Beto" - next to the bungee jump. Besides being a restaurant, Beto has "palapas" or thacht-roofed shelters with padded chairs. They cost only a couple of dollars a day and, within 15 minutes of your sitting down, you'll have your choice of boy -- young/older/dark/light/hairy/smooth/short/tall. I was there for a weekend and only had two -- very nice and sexy.
