Unknown Rio sauna?

In my surfing, I found some listings of Rio saunas "with boys" that included CLUBE MEIO MUNDO - Rua Teófilo Otoni, 18 - Candelária (final da Rua 1º de Março).

 

Does anyone know about this one? I haven't seen any mention of it on these boards.

I think at least one reader has reported on it in one of the earlier threads, and a friend of mine in Rio went there recently and seems to have developed a crush on one of the guys there! Meio Mundo is downtown, so my guess is that its busy in the afternoon (or possibly even at lunch time, if it opens that early) and is pretty quiet afterwards. Downtown Rio is like the downtown of many American cities; it's busy during the day but abandoned and nearly dead (and somewhat dangerous) after dark and on weekends.

If I remember correctly, it was a very long taxi ride from Copa. The place was closed when I got there mid afternoon even though it was listed in my gay guide as open for business on that day.

I did not really feel safe in the area--and I do not scare easily anywhere--so I took a taxi back and had a wonderful time at Thermas.

Oh Happy Day! Now I can provide information as payback to all of the wonderful people who helped me during my visit to Brazil - thank you!

 

I just returned from Rio and while there I visited Meio Mundo Sauna twice. The sauna is in a very old building and is in need of a lot of repair. As you enter the sauna, to the left is a very small dressing area and to the right is a sitting area, steam rooms and showers. On the next level, 2nd floor, is a large room which serves as a bar/entertainment area. Located on the 3rd floor are two very small T.V. rooms with porn shown in one of the rooms. Also on the 3rd floor are the private rooms to take your guy. Be VERY CAREFUL going up the stairs because the stairs and banister and quite worn!

 

Most of the boys at the sauna are young and VERY effeminate! There were no more than three to four masculine guys each night I visited, and NO big or muscular guys. Definitely NOT the selection one would find at any of the other saunas in Rio.

 

Directions: Take the metro and get off at the "Uruguaiana" station. Exit the metro station via "Pres. Vargas" street and walk towards the large church at the end of Pres.Vargas. The church should be on your right side as you walk "towards" the church. When you are parallel to the front of the church (again the church will be on your right side as you are facing the water) turn left on the street in front of you; do not cross the street. Walk one (1) short block and turn left again. The sauna is on the right side of the street about four doors down. The street the sauna is on is a very small street. Good luck.

The first time I went to that particular sauna was around 7:00 pm. Immediately disappointed with the looks of the sauna and VERY disappointed with the type of guys there, I decided to leave after being there for about 30 minutes. The manager (or owner), who is very nice, insisted I stay longer because more guys would arrive later thoughout the night. Well, I stayed longer and was further disappointed with the three or four guys who did arrive later. The managed encouraged me to return on a particular day, I do not remember the day, because the sauna would be packed with nice guys and a strip-tease show would be later that night. I returned to the sauna for my second visit. True there were more guys, just a few more (far from being packed), but the type of guys working there did not appeal to me; see earlier post. On the second visit, I arrived around 6:00 and stayed for the late night show. The strip tease show consisted of boys who were working at the sauna because the strippers did not show up, according to the manager. After two very disappointing trips, I decided not to visit the sauna again. The sauna is located in "cento" (downtown) and caution should be practiced when in the area. If you like young nellie boys, who work in a worn down buidling, this sauna is for you. I can not imagine myself going back there.
