Recently after posting some comments on my ongoing battle with depression and a really bad experience during my trip to Atlanta, a number of guys, clients and escorts alike have responded possitively about "getting back up on the bicycle". Some have e-mailed me privately, others have posted. But a number of you have suggested going "south" for some out of country (and out of my usual element) fun and games. Brazil apparently has "most favored nation "status and I found myself trying to catch up on threads in that section. Started reading the posts, clicking on hyperlinks to websites with Brazilian boys. I have been wiping drool off my keyboard and have begun to fanta"size" about going down there very soon. Being a South American Geography neophyte, I have a number of questions. What city? There seems to be anumber of Clubs that one MUST check out. Certain hotels seem better than others, Places to hit to be hit on (nice thought but my negative outlook makes it hard to believe). Anyway, is there a tutor in the house who could hold my hand and walk me through how to set all this up? Also, do any of you guys go as a group, something like a Band of Brazil brothers? If so, is there an entry fee? Initiation? Does begging help? This is getting pathetic, but all responses would be appreciated, (just nothing on foreign policy or the middle east please).

First, know thyself. What do you like when you go traveling? What do you not like? What makes you depressed or freaked out?

I consider myself a pretty intrepid independent traveler. No pre-packaged tours and very few guides for me. However, there are times abroad when I get a little bummed out. There are of course also times that are utterly thrilling.

Brazil is a big country. Many people have given good advice about keeping your wits in this sometimes violent place. In my view, the Brazilian hospitality and service industries are the best I've seen in the world. Folks here just know how to take care of each other, and that can be a pretty nice experience.

On a first, limited-duration trip, the well-worn tourist trail may be the thing for you: Rio, Iguacu Falls, Bahia -- no matter how many postcards you've seen, they're still incredible. Clubs and discos and sexual thrills, you've come to the right place (this board) for info. Check out the previous threads.

I would recommend briskly thumbing through the Lonely Planet Guide and/or Rough Guide to Brazil. The Insight guides are good for photos, to see what catches your eye. If you have more specific questions, come back here.

Deweywop gave some very salient suggestions to you. Mine are as a newbie to Brazil follow: Rio is a must. I'd suggest if you plan to go soon-- go during April/May of 2003 or during their spring which is October/November. I was there in October, and it was great-- not too packed. (I also plan to go for Carnival (bought airline tickets today and will pay for hotel by November 29. ...plan to stay for at least eleven (11) days.) The seasons have been suggested to me by locals as well as by a few respondents on this board.

If you do not want to stay near the beach in Copacabana or Ipanema, I'd suggest you stay at Hotel Atlantico Copa which is about four blocks north of the beach-- very easy travel. I stayed there for seven days in August, and my AMEX bill came to under two hundred fifty dollars. The hotel's facilities are quite comfy; also, it's the hotel where some other respondents to this site have stayed. Note previous threads regarding hotels.

Lastly, Trilingual, an individual whom I hope to meet in person, has a lot of expertise regarding Brazilian travel. Before I left-- he gave a suggested an excellent itinerary to follow as a firt timer. Check it out in the archives; in Sao Paulo there is now an extremely handsome escort who speaks fluent English available; his rates are indeed reasonable; Artur can be reached via email. Check out his website, etc. in the Escorts section. He's also been reviewed. Note "Escorts South of the Border, etc." That is not the complete name, but it is easy to find. In Rio you have Ernani. Check in the same place. You will have better luck emailing him at the tai...email address. His Angel whatever did not work for me. (Go into the archives. The information is valuable.)

That's it for me. Other knowledgeable travelers more than likely will respond and aid a fellow brother respondent here.

Hey Axiom2001,

I tired to post this reply last night and the system went kerflewey.

Anyway, Based on reviews and other posts, I had already contacted Artur by email and he answered quickly. He quoted a rate of $150. I had hoped to be there for 10 days. He lives in Sao Paolo so I would also have to fly him at $170 to Rio. I don't know if the $150 is for an hour or what, but it starts to get out of my price range. I will e-mail Ernani as well and see what his rates are. Thanks for the input. I really hope to make this happen. I read all of the posts that you and Tri and tomcal have written and the reviews as well. It sounds like a great time.

Thanks again

Jack

Brazil may not be a complete cure for your depression. This is a problem I live with, as well, and even though it's hard to be depressed in Brazil, on occasion I've found myself feeling down (although never as down as I do at home). So to avoid disappointment, just be prepared if you arrive there and don't get experience a miracle cure! ;-) However, getting away to Brazil and escaping temporarily from your everyday environment and stresses should have a positive result. Having some gorgeous guys getting demonstrably hot and bothered over you is also remarkably cheering! :) Just be sure, if you're taking meds, to stick with them to avoid any major downs. And don't be surprised by at least a bit of weirdness attributable to jet lag and tiredness from the long trip. It passes in a day or two as you get adjusted to the local time.

Important: don't let yourself feel pressured to perform if you aren't in the mood. On occasion I've gone to the saunas and, once I got there, discovered I'd kinda lost the urge. It's OK! All is not lost. You're under no obligation to go with anyone there, so if you don't really feel like it, don't. (It's a bad idea to go with a guy when you just aren't into it, because if the subsequent experience isn't good you may really get down!) However, you're there and you've paid your admission, so have a drink or a snack, enjoy the eye candy, chat with the guys (be sure to treat for a refreshment if you've been taking up their time), have a nice long sauna/steam, have a relaxing massage, and if you're still not in the mood, call it an afternoon! Tomorrow is another day, any after a good night's sleep you may be rarin' to go!

The critical thing to remember is that you've gone to Rio to relax, refresh and enjoy yourself, so go at your own pace, do what you enjoy and feels right, and don't feel like you have to top Tomcal's records! ;-)

Auntie tri, you might be able to help me, or look it up. I spent six hours at Lagoa last Wednesday and, other than a massage that involved very little sex, I did nothing with the boys but talk and jive.

Lagoa, by the way, was unquestionably LA CREME DE LA CREME -- spacious, clean, varied, with a perfect view of the showers from the lounge area. The boys were incredibly hot in all sizes and colors. I loved the way they showed and touched their wares at the showers to incite interest.

Yet, I froze. I spoke to and bought drinks for 3 or 4, but always waited for yet another one who would exceed the near-perfection of the last one.

Suddenly, it was 9 PM and I had to rush to Guarulhos to catch my flight.

No sex.

What happened to me Auntie Tri?? Am I becoming ASEXUAL or do I find anything after Bruno just an afterthought?

Can you help me??

Thanks.
