because of this center, i am taking off on a 7 night mini tour of South america. have four nights at the copacabana palace and two nites in Buenos aires before spending the last nite in Sao paulo.

Have lined up some entertainment in BA and unfortunately will miss arthur in SP probably by one day - so i wont be able to use his services.

If anyone wants to meet up to trade stories, contact me.

I could use a recommendation for a hotel in sao paulo let me know - everything looks so ultramodern whereas i like old fashioned places like a ritz carlton or something similar.

what would you guys recommend if one had only one night in Sao Paulo -

what one sauna would be the best? It will be a monday night.

There's really no ultra-grand old hotel in SP à la Ritz-Carlton. However, the Bourbon, downtown on the très gay Av. Vieira de Carvalho, is a nice older hotel and very centrally located for metro access to the Lagoa, which is a must see destination for the sauna-oriented! It's also very conveniently located for the Airport Express bus service when it's time to catch your flight.

Read through the other threads here for more detailed info on the SP hotel situation (if you don't see them, click on option about showing topics for the past 30 days and change it to showing all topics; you should then see all the page numbers available on this board and can check them for past threads). For descriptions of the Lagoa and directions to get there, go to Escort Reviews, click on Mexico & South America, and then read the semi-world-famous review of "Brazilian Saunas." The detailed info is in the first review in that thread.

Monday night in SP is going to be slow, as it is everywhere, but there should still be enough guys at Lagoa for you to have a memorable time! You'll want to go back!

About the Lagoa, if you've seen Back to the Baths and Towel Off, they're filmed there. The reality is even more sizzling than the videos.

Just one day in SP? Good luck. I hope you don't spend 80% of it sitting in traffic. With the heat, the hills, the jams, and the limited underground, SP is about the most difficult place to get around I've ever seen. I actually like SP for the extremity of it all, but it will take about 4-5 days to get used to it. You might as find your way to the Lagoa and plant yourself there for as long as you can. It probably *is* the most remarkable attraction of any kind in that metropolis.
