Along with checking out the Rio rentboy

saunas so highly recommended here (Club 117,

Estação, Roger's), I'm also really interested

in exploring in the "money-free" scene at any

Rio baths.

At http://riogayguide.com/gaybaths.htm is a

list of baths that incudes these ten that are

*not* supposed to be venues for moneyboys.

Have any of you guys tried any of these places?

While the "professionals" look like they are going

to be breathtaking, I like "regular guys" a lot too!

Eager for my December adventure to begin!

While in Rio, I met an American living there. He once had a pick-up boy drug and rob him. Since then, he only goes to a sauna with a pick-up since they enter the room with only a towel, no drugs or weapons.

The long-and-short of this is that he recommended the Copa sauna at Rua Dias da Rocha, 83.

I haven't been to Spa 73, but I've seen advertising for it that suggests it has escorts. The others are "non-escort" establishments.

The two saunas in Ipanema are popular. Studio 64 gets an "after the beach" crowd of "barbies." Novo Leblon is a bit more mixed-age. The Ibiza in Copacabana is very close to Roger's; you'll see it on the right-hand side of the street as you're walking up Siqueira Campos in the same direction as Roger's. It used to be called the Mykonos; the last time I was there, quite some time ago, it was pleasant but quiet. The two bath houses in Catete (a neighborhood between Copacabana and Downtown with metro access) get a less up-scale crowd. A good friend of mine goes there regularly and has a good time. Kabalk also may be interesting, but it's relatively far away from Copacabana/Ipanema, and transportation after dark could be a problem.

Hope this helps! The point about using the saunas as a place to take street pick-ups is well-taken. Kind of hard to pull a knife when you can only wear a towel!

>You're a wealth of information... on no matter what topic.

>Are you a reference librarian by trade?

Is it really THAT hard to understand that someone who has gone to Brazil many times over the course of many years may have a lot of useful information about the place and may be willing to share it with the rest of use who ask? Some of us appreciate the time and effort that Tri expends. If you don't, you don't have to read his posts.
