ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I finally mustered up courage to post this message! I AM going to Rio sometime within the next 2 months. I am planning meetings with several boys/men via the internet - personal websites and Apollus Agency. My problem is/will be with the saunas. I am old (early 60's), overweight, white as a sheet, and balding. I can't see myself stripping to a towel! I'm so shy I won't undress in front of myself. Sexually, I like to kiss, cuddle, perform oral, and occassionally bottom - no reciprocation necessary. I get my kicks by satisfying my partern. Can anyone offer suggestions beside intense therapy? I thought I'd go to the saunas, wait outside until the boys show up for work, and proposition then. REALLY STUPID. I do ok 1-on-1 but wearing only a towel in front of a group - I'm afraid not. I have not yet been to a Brazilian sauna but my experience in Barcelona at the Thermas Sauna suggests that the state of undress varies. The guys marketing themselves wear a skimpy towel resembling a loin cloth. The more self conscious customer might wear the large towel in a toga style--covering a good portion of their body and the smaller towel strategically draped around the waist. I also saw a fellow wearing a tee shirt in the sauna as well. I was very uncomfortable on my first visit to the Thermas Sauna but I can assure you my anxiety quickly dissipated. I subsequently went back every evening during my five day visit.

With only one trip to Rio under my belt, I am hardly an expert, but I don't think you should have a problem. The saunas automatically give you two towels - several of the clients wore one around the waist and one over the shoulders. If you are a large man, request a toalha grande. If you are very sensitive about your look, I would suggest that you bring a thin cotton robe to the sauna with you, although it is possible that the saunas may have those available as well for the those who are very self-conscious about their looks.

 

The clients I saw came in all shapes, sizes and ages. Just relax and enjoy yourself.

I understand you being self conscious, but you definitly do not need to feel that way in the sauans. First you can request one of the white terry robes and then you dont' have to bother with the towels, if that makes you more comfortable. I saw and spoke to several older guys there, one is a diplomat born in Brazil , he was 74, in a somwhat advanced state of osteoporosis and he was in a towel, and the boys were swooning over him, as he was a regular customer, they could care less about what your body looks like, there will be guys there who are older and overweight, you will not feel like your out of place. Please go, put on the robe and have fun!!! Don't miss out on this opportunity because you are shy, if it's easier, and it is, go when other guys on the board here are going, then you will have compnay and it will make it easier for you. There isn't really any place to hang out side around the saunas, especially as the boys leave at different times, you could be standing awhile. Nobody expects you to have a body like the boys, and the boys have seen(and i have), guys over 260 lbs there, and they were short. After the first 5 mins. you will forget all about what you look like and will be thinking about what the boys look like that are all around you!

Tomcal's got it right on. The clients come in all shapes and sizes, but they're rarely Greek gods. If they were, they'd probably be dancing shirtless at Le Boy, or preening on the beach at Ipanema, or roaming the floors at one of the non-escort saunas, where they wouldn't have any trouble finding a playmate. The saunas we're talking about here are a balm to those of us, like you, who aren't Adonises. If it makes you feel any better, I'm in my later fifties, short, considerably overweight, too pale for words (what Brazilians call "branco de escritóro," or "office pallor"). I definitely require a "toalha grande." As Tomcal says, in less than three minutes you'll be so transfixed on the glories of the boys swarming around you that you'll hardly have time to think about your own physique. Also, you may find this amazing until you experience it, but a surprising number of Brazilian guys are turned on by older (and more voluptuous) gents like us. So just because you think you'd get attitude at home, don't make that assumption in Brazil. For some of these guys, you will be an object of desire. Get used to that! And remember, kiddo, you're going all that way to get over those inhibitions! Just blame it on Rio!

 

I don't know if all of the baths offer terry robes or not, but many do, for a bit extra. (I've never used one at the baths.) The word for bathrobe in Portuguese is "roupão," so you know what to ask for, or to look for on the price board at the desk. It's pronounced "hoe - poun(d)", accent on the second syllable, in which the "hoe" is like a garden hoe, and the "pão" is pronounced like "pound" but dropping the "d" and not fully pronouncing the "n". (More like hinting at it.)

Their escorts charge US$80. for 90 minutes. I have sent/received e-mails from Alexandre at the agency and he last told me their new site would be up the middle of next week.

Considering the economy and the current rate of exchange, US$80 seems a little steep, but in all fairness it's been their rate for quite a while. You'd pay less at the saunas, but chances are the time of your encounter would be briefer. You also are paying for the convenience of working with someone who speaks some English and can help you ind what you want. So you'll have to decide if this was value for money after you've been to Brazil and compared the saunas to the agencies. Either way, you'll have a great time! ;-)

Yes, US$80. does sound steep compared to the saunas. And you guys have just about convinced me to go for it at the saunas and I guess if one needs more time you can simply drop more coins in kitty (so to speak). However, I like the idea of shopping at home and Apollus has the kind of guys I go for. Do you know if Apollus rates are in line with other escort services - Tower, etc?

Appollus's rates are basically in line with the other agencies. Some may be a bit less these days (because they don't base their rates in dollars) but chances are they don't speak English and you'd have some difficulty making arrangements.

 

Tomcal has taken pictures at the baths. Be very sure you've asked for a subject's permission before you take his picture, and that you're clear that he's given it. Obviously, do NOT take general pictures of the establishment without permission of the owner/manager or take pictures showing clients without their permission.

We had no problems taking pics at any of the suanas, as soon as we asked there wasn't one boy that said no, they all really seem to like to pose, and we saw flash cameras going off in the other rooms so alot of guys were taking pics the one night!! most pics were taken in the "cabines", but we took some in the locker areas and of course in the hotel room. I think all the guys posed nude except for Andre

Can you tell us where you leave the camera for saftey from theft and do you carry it with you in main areas or just get it out of locker each time you are going to cabine.

We have done it both ways, getting the camera from the locker as you go to the rooms is easy at Rogers as you have to walk through the locker area to get to the stairs that lead to the rooms, but at 117 it would be more of a hassle to do that as the rooms are on the floor above you(bar/lounge area) and the lockers are on the floor below you, so just carry it with you, at Estacio the locker area is adjoining the bar area so it would be easy to retrieve it when you need to.

I hired from Apollus for the first time a few trips ago. Alexandre does speak good English, unlike the other agencies, was very helpful, the price was about the same as the other agencies, and the experience wasn't bad. Having said that, the selection for the money I've found to be much better at the saunas. The exceptions, in my experience, are Ernani, Leo who I met through him and - possibly - Bruno Gaucho, but I need another session with him on my next trip to be sure.
