A big shout out to the web posters who recommended this place. Wow! Nicest sauna I have ever been in. And, just as written, what a display of towel-clad young male pulchritude on display!! Whew! 3 pm to 6 pm is the best time. About $26 US buys you admittance and another $85 US (100 Swiss) gets you some real fun in the booths upstairs. This place is first rate!!

The Paragonya is a nice way to spend a couple of hours in the late afternoon, but you must have never visited a Brazilian sauna.

I have been barking about the virtues of Pargonya for sometime! (See post below from June '05). True, it isn't a Brazilian sauna, but there is no crime, and Brazilian saunas don't have the awesome Eastern block twinks that Paragonya offers!

Mark, your best bet is Paragonya Sauna. Below is a posting from Hoovillian 'Paulero' that he posted back in '05. Rates are 100CHF (about 78USD) per session with the escort, entrance is about 28USD, they have a bar/cafe and serve sandwiches. Hope this helps, and please report back!

>>>>The Patagonya sauna is clean - as one might expect from a swiss place - not immaculate, especially the rooms are small and sometimes only consisting in a mattress of the dimension of the cubicle. OK it is free, but could be better.

The best time to go there is between 3 and 6 pm (I noticed and I got information from the barman), maybe a little later on sunday afternoon. Do not go there after 7 pm even though the sauna is open until 11 pm : most of the boys are leaving. The only ones who are not leaving are the ones who consider they did not make enough money and why didn't they make enough money ? Easy ! They were not the best. Of course after 7 pm the prices are decreasing significantly, as much as the quality ..

100 CHF is the normal rate. It certainly depends on the time, on the ratio customers / boys, on .... In some cases, it is difficult to differenciate the oldest boys and the youngest customers ....

There are many boys, but not as many as in Barcelona, to compare with another European sauna, nor in Madrid. The boys are of all origin, many from Asia, some from Brasil, Eastern Europe, Spain, Italy, Turkey. Even France was represented (Vincent alias Jacques Moulin from Strasbourg).<<<<

The Paragonya Report

A non Hoovillian reports from Zurich...

I am frisky and sixty but look my age and therefore stopped going to the steamies a long time ago. That was before I found Paragonya. This place has no attitude, and the rent boys and friendly, open and inviting. It is nice to find a place where seniors are accepted. The clientele is very international with Americans always among the customers to chat with. The rent boys are a mix of active and passive and are mostly Oriental, Brazilian or Eastern European. Language is never a barrier with them, however. This is my second weekend at the Paragonya and it will not be my last. I have never found another place like it in Europe.

There is a full range of body types. I like active beefy Brazilians and there are lots of them. There is a nice selection of passive young Oriental men, and the Eastern Europeans are pleasant enough and could star in Bel Ami films. The Brazilians are definitely Kristen Bjorn quality.

HI Luck!

I didn't write it, just passed it along.

My experience there has been that Paragonya offers dominant Asians, 2 buffed Thais in particular.

Glutes, I realized that you were passing on someone else's comments. I know we share a similar outlook here, so not to worry. It's just a little campaign of mine to clear up some of the traditional language used to describe Asian men.

Based on the many positive comments about Paragonya Sauna, I have booked a short year end trip to Zurich. I'll be there 4 nights arriving a few days after Christmas and leaving New Years Day. Does anyone have any experience in the sauna during holidays? I suspect many of the boys are home with family....or maybe just taking a break if things are slow in the sauna because of lack of clients.

I'm checking out the guys on erados.com as a backup, though I dont know my hotel's visitation policy. I know that many of the Rio hotels restrict guests but I've not had any experience with Zurich hotels. Based on a recommendation here, I am staying at Hotel Scheubel, which seems to be right in the middle of everything. Has anyone had problems taking boys to their hotel rooms for overnights? Thanks for your thoughts.

Reed,

You won't have any problems taking a guest to your hotel room in Zürich. Be prepared to show a room key after 12:00 midnight. Another detail about Switzerland: if you have booked a single room you'll get a room with a single bed which is rather small by american standards (about 3.2 feet wide).

Reed, I do not have any holiday experience at Paragonya, but I contacted a local who does. `It is like Las Vegas,` he says, `Some of the South American boys do go home, but a lot more Eastern Block boys come here after Christmas to make money.` Personally I doubt you will be disappointed.

Hotel Scheubel is in the middle of everything, much noise when the bars let out! FYI, the Paragonya boys want double (200CHF = 172USD), or triple to go back to your hotel...

Enjoy and report back please!!

For sauna newbies like me, I found Paragonya to be interesting and satisfying. You take off all of your clothes and put them in a locker. You wear a towel to roam about the facility so there's no place to put money; keep your money in your locker because you can pay your guy(s) later. Today, there were about 25 customers (all older) and 20 working guys. Downstairs, there is a lounge area and bar. It's a good place to see all of the available boys make their way to the locker area. There are also showers (to wash up afterwards), a sauna and jacuzzi. Upstairs, there are 2 sitting areas showing porno. It's in the back where the action is. No one really solicits you downstairs or upstairs in the front sitting area...although you can make eye contact and walk in the back with your guy. In the back, the guys will show you their wares and discuss the fact that they are "working". Going price is still 100 Swiss Francs. How long you spend with your guy is up to you but don't expect an hour. The rooms are spartan and they close with curtains or sliding doors. You can pretty much hear everything that is going on around you. What types of guys were there? There were many Brazilians but only a couple of muscular ones. I found a Swiss guy with a swimmer's build who left me smiling...I later went to Carrousel bar as recommended by others here. Very small bar that can get crowded with rent guys and their customers. It was difficult to see what you get because everyone is dressed (imagine that!). As I was leaving, Bruno Marrone (he's gone by other names) walked in. He looked very handsome but was stand-offish. Anyone have any experiences with him because I have another day or 2 here in Zurich...

hekili98,

If they are still there you need to check out the following two at Paragonya:

- Johan. 1/2 Swedish 1/2 Argentinian, the kid is 6'4" blond & blue, he is a strapping chunk-a-hunka. The accent and swagger are combo you've never seen before.

- Siko (pronounced See-ko). Tom Cruise double from Prague with great English skills, although he could use some dental work.

Both versatile and no attitude!

Lucky, thanks! I am in 100% agreement with your attempt to thwart and diffuse the stereotypes which are associated with individuals in terms of ethnicity, endowment, activity (activo/passivo/fem/etc.)!

I just got back from a trip to Zurich and a visit to Paragonya. I had a fantastic time and want to thank all the posters that recommended this establishment!

I have yet to make it to the saunas in Brazil but have been to Thermas in Barcelona. I agree with the previous posters that this place is different. The guys are not nearly as aggressive as at Thermas so you can relax in the nice lounge in peace, read a paper, have something to drink etc. When you're ready to have some fun, head upstairs and cruise whichever guy tickles your fancy. The going rate is still 100CHF although I did have one pretty aggressive guy (says he's from Kazakhstan, older, very professional hustler) tell me he normally charges "400 but for me it would be 200." I couldn't help but think of Borat. :)

Predominantly Brazilian talent on display but also a healthy mix of Eastern European and east asian guys (one of them was this absolutely draw-droppingly hot bodybuilder). At least 3-4 of the Brazilian guys were built like brickhouses with amazing abs and chests.

I had a great time with a couple really cute guys from Slovakia. One looked like he was straight out of a Bel Ami video! The other was beefier but super cute with his glasses.

I 2'nd the esCupido recommendation. A great site for independents indeed. I have used it with great success for most of Europe/Aust and for HKG. I like how they often list direct multiple means of contact.

While Paris is well represented everywhere....I really have had great spectacular luck there with esCupido. (I have no biz affiliation BTW)

sydneyboy:

When East Asia is mentioned here in the Paragonya context, it means Malaysian or Indonesian, throw in a occasional Thai.

Sparticus is a good guide for gay friendly hotels (GoldenSchwert??) near the Neiderdorf (Old Town) where Paragonya is located. Here is a link for general near-by hotels: http://www.holidaycityeurope.com/zurich-east/index.html

If you go to Zurich, avoid the Romanian rent-boys, Paragonya won't even let them in! And get ready for some sticker shock, the Swiss Franc just crossed parity with the U$D.
