Amsterdam Hotel

[Guest big guy]

Has anyone stayed at a place called Hotel New Amsterdam? I checked out its website off the Gay Amsterdam Visitor Guide site and and it looks like a decent place. I would welcome any feedback!!! Any other recommendation would greatly appreciated.

This hotel is close to the Central Station but far from where all the action is.

I don't know what sort of place you are looking for. I always stay at Maes B&B between the Central Station and the Jordaan, a quiet, friendly, inexpensive gay-run place that is well situated for walking to any kind of gay venue at night. The owners, Ken (American-born) and Vlad (a gorgeous blond Russian dancer) are terrific hosts, and some of my favorite memories of Amsterdam are of long mornings sitting around the breakfast table chatting with the other guests.

For nearly 20 years I have always stayed at the Aero Hotel in the gay street called the Kerk Straat. It is right opposite the Night Sauna and is close to the Day Sauna. Tel +0031 206 227728

It is also only 15 - 20 mins walk to all the other Gay attractions.

 

You should however be aware the Gay Amsterdam scene has really gone downhill in the last 5 years, especially with regard to the "Houses with Boys". See the various threads here under Amsterdam and "Whynot Bar".

Dont expect too much nowadays!
