For non-escort cruising (well, maybe there are some working guys hanging around, too) try Independence Park just north of the Hilton. My sources also like the toilet at the Central Bus Station (the old local commuter bus station as opposed to the intercity bus station).

I'm afraid I can't give any specific information (I never make any move in places where people know me). However, I think I should give you a few warnings.

 

Beware of Barak Escorts, reviewed here. They are definitely fake. All their pictures are stolen from the Web sites of agencies in the U.S. and U.K. The reviews themselves are signed by different names, but they seem to have been written by the same hand. Barak Escorts may have boys, some of them may even be good and/or hot (I wouldn't know), but they definitely don't have the the boys they claim to offer. If they are dishonest in their advertising, I am skeptical about their service as well.

 

Beware of Charles Chlore Garden near the Hilton. I have never been there, but if the newspapers are right, the "trade" consists of underaged homeless substance addicts and there is police supervision too. I don't have any information on this, but it wouldn't surprise me to hear that some of the desperate kids should resort to mugging in order to get a meal or a fix. The same goes for another cruising place, the Independence Garden in Haifa opposite the City Hall.

 

Beware of the old Central Bus Station. Since the opening of the new Central, the decrepit old one is more or less abandoned, or more precisely frequented by dubious types. The place has acquired a really bad reputation (again, I don't have any first-hand knowledge, but I tend to believe this rumor is substantiated).

 

Sorry to bring bad news. There should be some good places too, but I've got no idea where they are.

Is the street trade in Israel mostly Jewish or Palestinian boys? Or a tasty mix?

Mostly (exclusively??) Jewish as far as I know. Lately, a high percentage (majority?) are immigrants from Russia and the other Republics of the former "glorious" Union. According to one report, the boys (at least those who were willing to talk to the journalist) are straight and hate what they do, but they do it because many clients give them a meal and a shower beside the tip and sometimes even a clean bed till next morning. They are underaged anyway, so just bringing a couple of sandwitches to the park is a much better idea than hiring one of them. Probably there are "normal" escorts available too, but I don't think they are walking the park.

A friend of mine owns an old Ford Escort, assembled in Israel. That's the only Israeli Escort I know personally. Its owner does not escort though.

Before the troubles it was a mix. A lot of young Jewish guys of Middle Eastern background (Mizrahim) share cultural values with their Arab counterparts. In other words, there's no real sexual outlet for young unmarried men, because their brides must be virgins. Guess where they turn? They don't consider themselves gay because they have sex with other guys (and, somewhat like in Brazil, to them "gay" means getting fucked). When they finally get married they usually give up their playing around with guys.

 

The mix of street trade is probably less Palestinian than it was pre-intifada, because it's currently very difficult for people from the West Bank to enter Israel proper. Of course, there are probably Israeli Arab guys cruising.

 

It's been a long time since I was in Israel, so the scene has probably changed, but I would guess the Hilton park is still safe during the day (precisely because there are police patrols). You could go during the late afternoon, and if you see someone of a certain age who's also cruising, you might try striking up a conversation and asking for some tips. There's no reason to worry about the police. Sodomy is no longer a crime in Israel, and the legal situation is more advanced than in the U.S. I'm not positive, but I don't think prostitution is illegal, either. When I was in Israel the sodomy law hadn't been repealed yet, but the police never bothered anyone unless someone was causing trouble. (Like pickpockets, or muggers.)

 

If you go cruising in public places like the park or the bus station, use the same common sense precautions you'd have anywhere else: don't take all your money and credit cards, don't go covered in gold chains and jewelry, etc. The lower your profile, the better.

I have read a report about police busting both parties: the client for hiring an underaged kid, and the young hustler for possession of drugs.

 

I think most hustlers are homeless Russian kids these days.

 

Prostitution is not legal, due to the out-of-proportion political power of the religious circles. However, people don't get busted for hiring someone over 18 as far as I know.
