The dear Raleigh escort Andre announced that he had now started his own blog. His first post was on October 12, 2008. His last post was on October 13th, 2008.

 

The famed Munroe Monument? Last heard from June 30, 2007.

 

Scott Adler, not exactly a shrinking violet? It's been almost a year since he posted- February 17th, 2008 to be exact.

 

So, what is it with these escort blogs? Nothing to say? No discipline? Each of the above still puts a link to his blog in his Hooville signature.

 

There's one escort who actually posted on his blog this year. You guessed it- Benjamin Nicholas. Here's what he had to say:

 

I've spent the last year traveling the world, but laid low on the public-face front, opting not to regularly update 15mm, participate in message centers and basically slacking off with a greater purpose. At this point, I think I've spent more than enough time making personal amends, figuring things out and now I plan on making 2009 the year that this blog gets back into the habit of jaw-dropping jot, traveloguing and the whodunit-style that made it popular in the first place.

 

Let's face it: No one's been able to replace 15 Minutes... The gloves are once again off kids and I'm taking no prisoners. While I plan on tweaking the format a little around here, you can look for more frequent postings (albeit shorter in length), regular eye candy updates and weekly gossip regarding not only the celeb front, but the niche-within-a-niche we call the male escort industry.

Hey all. My first post here, but I've been following the action for awhile. Wanted to throw my two cents in since BN is a close bud:

 

I remember when the shit hit the fan for Ben and the way he handled the situation. He apologized, faced the problem and from what he told me, he came to a resolution with the authors he hurt. If the author of the source material was satisfied, then why are people here still bitching & moaning?

 

I've kept up with his blog since. It's a lifestyle I hope to live, at least until I run out of skincare products from 'Needless Markup.' I've got a few more years left before I start considering experimental Chinese injection treatments ;)

 

 

Enough with the BN bashing. The horse has been dead awhile.

 

 

 

Now for a more important issue. What do you think of my butt?

I have to agree with Noah. Ben made a mistake - yeah a big one but a mistake. He apologized and also told me he apologized to the authors also. So let's let it be. How would you like it if everything you did was out under a microscope and examined forever. I would welcome his return to this board with open arms. So let's stop bashing Ben. He truly is a terrific person.

I do miss the blogs. It was the reason I got into hiring. When I first saw this website, Devin's blog immediately attracted me. I was a novice at the internet and did not have clues how to bookmark, so I would come here daily to read his ramblings. His road trips were the most interesting and in fact he continued to write, right up to the moment he went over the top, somewhere in the south I believe. Devon was my first hire on one of his road trips.

 

Several escorts have tried but for whatever reason seem to bore of it. I thought Scott had the makings of a great blog but again it died quickly. Ben's blog was at least decent gossip news and good Lord if we all do not like good gossip like a bunch of old washer women (Sorry my midwest-german heritage). I find blogs and forum discussions a good way to get to know an escort. Thing is it requires good writing skills and you have to be a voracious reader.

 

Ben packaged his spot well, but to have capitalized on other sources when all it took would be the bibliography at the end and seriously that is all news is these days is packaging. Ben is an outstanding escort, but the thing he did was not a feeling thing where forgiveness is of issue, it is the sense of being a fraud and believability. I would think the first thing is to dump the whole title 15 minutes why would you want to bring back a fraud. So Noah and Skrubber, for me this has nothing to do with Ben the escort, Ben the journalist, I will have to pass. Also why not come back to the board, this where amends need to be made, so he takes his lumps, goodness knows others have. There have been no bigger supporters of Ben than Hooboy and Daddy. If you really want some life back on the board than guys like Ben and Scott need to be a part of it. Nothing I hate worse than clients do all the front work for escorts.

I was sorry to see that Greg and Rick jumped right in to attack a fellow escort. Where is the charity in their hearts? The lack of forgiveness, the lack of humility that they too make mistakes is embarrasing.

It seems to me that my original question has been answered. Escorts find blogs hard to keep up. They require discipline and some real appeal in what they have to say. Fault him as you wish, I think Ben has better prospects of success with his blog than any other escort blogs I have seen. But I did like Andre's videoblog post.

Not long ago, someone did research on the average longevity of a blog. It was something like 2 or 3 posts. Blogging requires that you have something to say. The most read blogs (DailyKos, Talking Points Memo, Eschaton, etal.) long ago became ensemble operations, in part to make them commercially viable, but also because there's only so much interesting content that a single person can provide on a daily basis. Your assumptions about persistent are a little presumptuous.

 

My guess is that even non-shrinking violets like Rick and Adler find themselves repeating themselves or have long periods of better things to do and if they don't have a lot of visitors (and comments), it there isn't the communication to keep a blog moving during the slow times. In addition, a big chunk of their social interaction that would be of interest to us should be confidential and may be technically illegal. I don't think they want an ether trail that could bite them in the ass.

 

As for BN, much has been said but my own take is that his blog has tended to be rather sophomoric and pompous--trying too hard. The best highly personal mainstream blogs like Joe.My.God succeed because the writer knows how to keep himself out of the obvious foreground. In the porn world, the one exception to this might be Erik Rhodes' blog. It is so lacking in self-censorship that it can strike one as both a car wreck that has to be guiltily watched, and something so truly personal that the artifice of a blog like BN's becomes obvious.
