Poor show for London

I have only just started reading this site again over the last few months and have been struck by how poorly London escorts are represented in reviews. I don't mean there aren't enough - I mean the ones who get reviewed give a really bad impression of what the London escort scene has to offer. I have thought this for a while but was finally pushed into posting something because of today's Coverboy. I know it's a matter of personal taste and I don't want to be rude about the guy (his review was good if you like that sort of thing), but there are SO many better looking guys on the London scene.

 

On top of this, just the other day, we had the negative review of Marcello in London. And even when there's a positive review of a London guy, it seems he is invariably a twink.

 

This just isn't doing justice to the range of guys London has to offer - goodlooking, attentive and professional men (not boys) who are keen to ensure you have a good time.

 

So - I'm curious: who is posting London reviews? Mostly Americans, I guess. Ex-pats or tourists? (The latter I suspect a rare creature these days given your sub-prime economy.) If mainly American, do you only prefer twinks? Do you find it hard to find a goodlooking, manly and professional escort in London?

 

And before anyone shoots me down in flames, yes my view of the kind of reviews that appear about London escorts is impressionistic (I haven't done a statistical analysis for god's sake!) but as a Brit I do read most of them.

I agree that London has a lot to offer in all styles, shapes and sizes. I loved it when I lived there for six years. I used to review London escorts all the time. But now that the pound is around $2, it is unlikely that I will visit London anytime soon.

London has no end of really attractive guys and I used to indulge. It also used to be a relative bargain in the late 90s/early 2000. Because of the insanely high price of the British pound against the dismal $, I suspect you're seeing far fewer American tourists in London and in Europe. Mexico and South America and the Far East offer better travel bargains, and there, I'm sure you'll find American men checking out the local culture, food and men.

I'm right with the others on this one. I used to go to London twice a year for two weeks each time. I always hired escorts and hired some really fantastic guys. I like handsome, mature guys, 30's and 40,s, with great gym bodies and outstanding personalities. London was full of this type and still is. However with the dollar situation I haven't been there in over a year and have no plans to visit any time soon. TOO BAD FOR ME!! Turn about IS fair play though so now its time for you London guys to get over here with you golden pounds and sample our offerings.

Yes you are right about the poor coverage for London these days. I haven't hired for a while and my last reviews were 3 or 4 years ago of guys now retired. There are so many guys advertising on Gaydar and elsewhere and, after a couple of mediocre (not actually bad) experiences, I've withdrawn from the game waiting to be inspired by some sizzling review. Still waiting...

 

Europe via Gayromeo can be better (eg Paris, Vienna) and the guestbooks often give "reviews" if you can understand the languages. As with the reviews on this site, a certain reading between the lines is sometimes needed. In recent years, glowing London reviews here have often been from first time reviewers. Everyone has to be a "first timer" but, for me at least, some of these reviews lacked the absolute ring of authenticity.

So how about letting us into the secret of these paragons, if not in a review, which I know is time-consuming, then at least in these forums ? Some hungry London clients need to be thrown a bone or two from your clearly well-stocked table

Hi Nicholas - not sure why you make that assumption. As I said in an earlier message, I have been reviewing on here for some years - I think my first was way back in 2003. I use a different handle for my reviews.

 

It is always hard making specific recommendations because I don't know your taste: that's why a review is better, because you can read it, see the description the client gives about himself, and think, "Yeah, that matches me and my likes".

 

Anyway, someone I would highly recommend at the moment has actually been reviewed on here, though he hasn't received many reviews which I find rather mystifying. He is Ben #02 (London). A man, not a boy, keen to please and very professional.

Sorry if I made a hasty assumption, the discussion seemed to be about more recent reviews. I readily admit that I haven't posted any in the last few years. You're right though that the client's self-description is as important as the review. Eventually some reviewers become "trusted" in the same way you generally trust a particular theatre or film reviewer. However I'll look into Ben 2,and thanks for the tip.

I'm one of the American expats living here in London that hires occasionally; I guess I'm also one of the guilty lurkers that hasn't reviewed all that much other than the occasional comment here on the message boards.

 

To be honest, although I've hired a few guys here in London, most of them have been pretty mediocre; neither good enough to recommend nor bad enough to have something negative to say. Fortunately I've only had one really terrible experience; in that case just as I was about to write a review, someone else's bad review of the escort got posted. Luckily for everyone, the working guy appears to be out of the biz.

 

In terms of the ones that have been good; I agree with BMD's recommendation of Ben #2; he is FANTASTIC! In fact I submitted a review a little while ago but have yet to see it posted. The other guys I've seen that have been pretty good (all on gaydar):
