For years this wasn't a problem. I live in Boston but was lucky enough to have a small studio in the West Village that was all my own pretty much anytime I wanted it. Now the studio is gone, and with it free accommodations. I was wondering if any of you could give me advice about cheap digs where they don't call out the militia at the first sight of a good-looking young guy asking to go up to an older guy's room at 1am. By "cheap" I really do mean as cheap as possible; I'm not finicky, but I AM on a pretty tight budget. I'd rather spend the money on the escorts than on the room. I would appreciate all advice, as, I'm sure, will many others.

Someone mentioned Hotel 17 to me, has

anyone heard good things about them?

Well kept up East Village/Chelsea location.

Looks like a single bed is $139 before tax &

a double is $173 (both w/ a shared bathroom).

There are cheaper hostel type single rooms

out there, but this actually looks decent.

A few hotels will care if you have a guest

you don't pay for, if 2 persons cost more

than one at their establishment. I think

that the rates are the same at this hotel

for 2 guests. Other than that, any hotel

will not care who the guest is, except if

they walk in screaming & breaking things,

i would presume.

If that property does not work, here is

a list of good budget hotels from

New York Magazine:

Good luck and let us know what you find.

If none of these look good, you can

probably do better on priceline.

Betterbidding.com will tell you what

hotels people are getting in which

areas and for how much. Check the

New York forums:

It looks like you can get a 3 star

room on certain days in Manhattan

for about $135 and up and a 4 star

room starting at $150. Good luck!
