>If it is an agency posting for the guy I can over look it.

If an escort publishes his travel plans he is advertising for himself and as such I believe that is allowed.

However when an escort agency uses that forum they are really posting to increase profits for their business without paying for any advertising. Granted the escort may benefit too but I don't think the agency should get a free ride.

A Modest Proposal

My main problem with this entire thread--is that I don't understand why there is all the fuss. It's a Travel Forum For Escorts to list their travel plans. I can see if someone ran an agency like Dave for Man to Man or Nick at Night--isn't he for Premier?-- needed to post a travel date. I don't see why anyone else does. Maybe there needs to be a rule that an escort can only addend/update the message a limited number of times per week. If a posted link was incorrect or if there was a wrong date or etc--couldn't the moderators contact the original poster? Of course with this paradigm, devoted fans would no longer be able to post the traveling dates of their faves--but no solution is perfect }( }( }(

If others wanted to comment on the Travel Post of a specific escort--they have the Deli to use.

>As to escorts constantly bumping their listings, I find them

>entertaining. "I've arrived at the front desk" "I'm on the

>than intended about availability.

I think those are hilarious in their obviousness. Personally, once I post a travel ad for Derek and myself, I tend to forget about it unless I happen to remember to check and suddenly see that we're on the 2nd page (aka "Message Board Siberia"), so I bump it up, but I always bump with the word "bump" because anything else would just feel so phony to me, you know what I mean?

On a related note, I have two pet peeves about other guys' travel ads:

1. When did it become the rule to always use the city's nickname? "I'll be visiting the City of Brotherly Love"..."I'm returning to the City by the Bay"..."Beantown, here I come"..."I'm ready to take a bite out of the Big Apple." If we're going to start making rules for travel posts, I say we ban city nicknames! :p

2. When did it become the rule to use this sentence (or some variation thereof): "I'm looking forward to seeing old friends (variation: familiar faces) and seeing/making new ones!"? I say we ban that one, too. :p

(Yes, my tongue is firmly in my cheeks here, right where it belongs.)

Wow, you must have a really long tongue to get it to reach all the way back there.......

Sort postings by travel date

For the most part things sem fine with the current rules. Our moderators seem to do a pretty fine job of maintaining reasonable order.

I see no problem with a a client, agent or pimp posting a travel ad for an escort. If someone thinks it is lame or some indication of a lack of ability or interest on the part of the escort then so be it. You can simply decide not to hire said escort. No problem in my opinion unless the client/poster was deceptive about his identity.

I can see that escorts bumping their own postings might be seen as less than classy by some clients. But those clients who find that to be negative now have the information they need to make an informed hiring decision. My problem is that it does tend to bury other escorts who never or rarely self-bump (mine for example!) travel posts.

Here is my solution: Have posts sorted by travel dates. Make bumps irrelevant as far as posting order. That way we escorts can freely add relevant information such as where we are staying etc.

This would require some programming (I'll volunteer to help if I can) and it would also require escorts to enter the topic title in the correct way with a computer parsable date. And that is a self solving problem because a post with a date that doesn't parse will just get either rejected or placed at the bottom (ie page 2) of the travel posts.

Actually maybe it would make more sense to sort the postings by city and then date. Or perhaps offer the reader the option or either. Note that readers currently have the ability to change the order of posting display for example by number of views.

Just some thoughts, I imagine that management doesn't have a lot or spare time or much interest in fixing something that isn't really broken and actually works quite well.

RE: Sort postings by travel date

Here is my idea for travel posts to avoid bumps. I say break the travel forum in sections, west centeral and east as far as the United States go and an other section for outside of the United States. I'll admit I am one to bump my own posts but that is usually when it gets down to the bottom of the page and my last bump when it got to the dead zone page 2. I think it gets hard to get noticed when one posts their travel city and someone comes in after you and posts 6 or 8 cities at once.

Greg

We have a winner. :p

We do actually have a long list of enhancement requests in with the author of the board software. Many have been granted over the years, some haven't.

Your request, while perfectly valid, is on a somewhat larger scale than what the software was intended to provide I suspect. Personally I would prioritize it somewhere below creating a personal twit filter (a perpetual and persistent request). But that's just me.

I still say we should just leave it up to Barry. :7

Me, too. There is really nothing wrong with the way that the Travel Section works right now. Rentingdad just didn't know that rules. He's admitted that. No harm done. Hell, neither did I. I was just playing around, rather drunkenly when this whole thing got started. No need to burn down the house.

I have posted about this and crusty asses this week. Lord.

Let's talk about escorts.

Hey Rick, I didn't say YOU bumped them, I said your posts were bumped 13 times. That post was really for JT and his reference to "other" travelers, not to be named. A bump is a bump meant to keep the post at the top of the heap. Whether it has a sign post "bump" or I've arrived "bump".
