The legal or constitutional question is whether the subject was "entraped" by the lie of the cop who said he was not. It is unconstitutional, as a violation of due process of the law, for a cop to talk someone into commiting a crime which he was not otherwize inclined to do and then arrest him for it. But if the person was intending to or inclined to commit the crime it is not unconstitutional for the cop to participate to the point of catching him in the crime. Of course, it is dishonest for the cop to say he is not one, but it is also dishonest for him to pretend to be a drug seller or buyer, or a prostitute or a client etc. A certain amount of dishonesty is considered a valuable tool for the police and a person seeking to commit crime has little to complain about.

Hey Merlin;

From what I was told (after MY arrest in Vegas a year ago), there are no entrapment laws in Nevada AND the cops are allowed to lie.....

(This from my attorney & a few others as well)...

All the best;

Ace

Are you sure?

The wording of the statutes takes for granted that prostitutes are female (using female pronouns, referring to tests of cervical specimens, ...) but I couldn't find a specific prohibition of gay brothels the last time I looked.

Deej, do you have a reference?

From the old days, (Yes, I am older than dirt or sand in this case.) Clark County did not allow brothels. Las Vegas is mostly in Clark County so I would assume that since brothels are not allowed in LAS, then free lancing by either or both sexes is frowned upon also.

That won't necessarily get you into or out of trouble but could be interesting to know.

Like that United Airline ad says, get to know your customers and face to face. I know that isn't always possible but you can be careful.

Best regards,

KMEM

ncm, I don't understand your response to Chuck. Chuck does know Las Vegas as he has several times reported on escorts there. So I would take his recommendation. Even if you don't like what he says, to label it "pathetic" is really beyond understanding. I have respect for both of you and hope that you can avoid this type of response.

Sorry, I was in a particularly sour mood last night. x(

But hey, at least I restrained my urge to inject religion into the thread and risk the topic being relegated to oblivion as a result. }(
