David Rentboy Cover of the Day Again?

Is it just me or does it seem like this David guy who is the Rentboy Cover boy of the day for Sunday, May 20 makes the top spot about every three weeks or so? I could swear he was the cover boy in late April and a few weeks prior. As I recall he used to be based in DC and moved to NY about a year or so ago.

 

It’s my understanding that the RB cover guy is determined by number of hits on his profile so the system should be automatic. But with 350 (plus or minus) guys listed for New York it just strikes me as strange that this David keeps making the top slot on a regular basis. I know that no system is fool proof but it just makes me wonder.

 

At times I find the Rentboy cover guy to be too New York centric and would like to see more guys from other markets. There’s the occasional London, LA or Chicago boy but way too few seem to make the cover IMHO. We’ve had a few instances where a guy mentioned on this site winds up making cover boy the next day so I know a lot of traffic can get generated to boost a particular escort. But the frequency of David making Rentboy cover just strikes me as a little odd.

 

What about it guys, has any one else noticed this David making cover boy on a regular basis or am I off base?

I remember the late Lynden of DC, soon after he started his webpage, asked his viewers to click on a direct link to his RB profile on a certain day to see if he'd make coverboy of the day. I thought it was a neat gimmick so I made sure to click on the link from his webpage 2-3 times during the day and, sure enough, he made coverboy the following day!

 

Which, I suppose, is a long-winded way of saying that it seems quite possible to 'rig' the selection. Moreover, as I recall, when Rentboy ran it's escort-of-the-year contest, I heard there was no safeguard to prevent multiple ballots being cast from the same IP address. So all of that leads me to conclude if an escort has a computer and a lot of time on his hands and a desire to improve his profile...

 

There are a lot of things to like about Rentboy, including it's search engine and, especially, its stats card feature; but I'd certainly agree that Rentboy is very much New York - centered and I too have noticed that David gets coverboy a lot as well as Diego (I think?) from NYC and another latino escort (who's name I've forgotten) who used to be based out of NYC also got a fair amount of coverboy days this year and last. What I've also found interesting is that LA (who usually lists 180-200 escorts) doesn't get coverboys even half as often as NYC, with its 330-360. Maybe there's an NYC-based latino fan club out there that keeps the 'hits' coming on Rentboy...

I remember when Lynden pulled that off it was rather funny.

 

I also recall that Harlow and Trent kept Harlow's profile at the top of the list at Male Escort Review for several weeks.

 

Perhaps there is some NYC Latino fan club churning hit after hit on three particular escort profiles. }(

When Daddy picks a cover boy from NYC who has a Rentboy link in his reviews, it's almost a given that he'll be Rentboy's coverboy in a day or two. This has been going on for several years.

 

Yes, it leaves room to stuff the ballot box. I don't have a problem with that as long as the guy delivers instead of using it to create more scam opportunities. I actually sort of respect a guy who is focused enough on his profession to learn the innards of the game and use them to his advantage.

 

If a guy engineers abnormally high visibility but does not deliver, it will show up in reviews. (Anyone remember Kirk?) If he DOES deliver, that will show up in reviews too. It's a self-fulfilling prophesy either way.

 

When you think about it, it's actually a fairly self-correcting ecosystem.

I get the whole traffic thing, but you know who has never been a coverboy here (no face pic), but is like coverboy on Rentboy once a week? Gino. Not saying that he doesn't deserve to be, his pics are hot and I love the whole "tight little butt that take can all you have to give" thing......and the guy has a pretty, pretty dick.

 

Guess he must get a lot of lookers without the help of this site or any reviews. Recall that he has been discussed here before...lives in Queens, real job, been around a long time and no reviews.

That's a very good way of putting it. The guys who play the games invariably get caught.

 

However, I now have this vision in my mind of David's mother being so proud of her boy the male escort that she spends hour after hour clicking on her boy's Rentboy profile to increase his traffic and thus make him cover of the day. Ahhh a mother's pride. :+

On a different note...JT has spent Several Great Times with David.

Seriously, I get it that NYC is the largest market and that he's listed on the first page so his chances are going to be greater for making cover. And since New York is the default location it makes sense to see more guys from that market as the cover. Wonder what would happen if the default were changed to LA or Chicago, would there become a preponderance of guys from those markets as cover boy? Guess what I am getting at is a little variety would be nice. :9
