NOPE! My bad. I just called the number and that certainly sounded like a voice belonging to Hayden! It was the area code and email address ("fly" and the reviewer's a pilot, having not thought of the other use of the word "fly") that threw me. Carry on :-)

So Rod, what did you guys talk about?

The guy does look hot!

His review was one of the more interesting ones. I would have loved to know more about the bathroom scene. A little public sex sounds hot.

This might be the spot to ask since Rod answered his own question, is this the type of review I should write? Not to criticize the reviewer because he brought us a new candidate, seemed a little more about him and his toys, than the escort. What I have gathered it is better to write something rather than nothing.

Would it be of more interest to talk about one scene that took place and summarize the rest?

I know to go over the basics about the guy, his description, how professional he was or was not in the set up. But in giving out something about the meeting that would give you the client something tangible to make a decision about hiring or not hiring.

Bart... The best reviews are those that are entertaining yet informative. It is not necessary to go into every minute detail… Reviews that are simple a catalog type list of each activity can be boring… and in the long run don’t give any of what I consider to be the really important information about the guy. In fact, at times leaving a little bit to the imagination can be a good thing…as it might just give a potential client a bit of a pleasant surprise… }(

Personally I prefer reviews that are in clever and stylish… as opposed to being crude, matter of fact and blatantly X-rated… I once wrote a review comparing the escort to a certain literary character who had made a pact with the devil… it got the point across with out resolving to any vulgarity or endless minute details.

As you suggest, the important thing is to give an indication of the personality, demeanor, character, intellect, as well as the performance of the escort… and by performance I am referring to his “presentation” as well as the “other” type of performance. After all, to many individuals the intelligence level of the escort is just as important as his sexual prowess… It is certainly my belief that the largest sexual organ is the brain…

Also, while the main focus should be on the escort, it doesn’t hurt for the reviewer to reveal a bit about himself in the review… We are all different, yet often similarities in likes, dislikes, and personality traits can overlap… It might give a clue to someone to help him discern if he would be compatible with a given individual.

Just my point of view… and I might add… if appropriate, a bit of humor always makes for an entertaining review as well. :)

I loved Frisco's review of Hayden. I might just as soon pay to meet Frisco as Hayden. The butler scene was hilarious and the 70 year old pilot with his cute guy wrapped in a red flight crew t-shirt was too much. One of the classic reviews. Thanks Frisco for much entertainment. Ever think of doing an ad on Rentboy yourself??

Yes… Frisco met just about all the standards for an interesting and entertaining, yet informative review.

Plus, the more I thought about it… The fact that Hayden had the word “flydude” in his email address probably actually enticed “flydude Frisco” into hiring him… it might have signaled a kinship of sorts or perhaps just a good sort of feeling about the guy…

So a salute to Frisco… 70 and still flying high… very high!

To take a contrary view, I found the review of Hayden to be somewhat self-indulgent. Personally, I didn't need to read all the details about the new plane or changes to the Casa/Club Del Mar to become informed about Hayden. Though, at least the bathroom and butler scenes at least provided some insights into the the escort's personality.

For myself, I tend to prefer the more 'matter-of-fact' or straight-forward reviews to the 'stylish' ones if only because those reviews going for style and 'entertainment value' too often backfire badly (think fosterchow on Ben Nicholas). Moreover, tastes on style and humour/entertainment vary widely, and trying to write for as wide an audience as possible, in my opinion, should be the reviewer's goal rather than trying to impress us with his cleverness, tastes, lifestyle and so forth.

Note though, being straight-forward doesn't need to be boring. It's just that I think that a (fairly) objective report on the encounter is easier to read (and write!) than a 'stylish critique'. Nor does a review need to be vulgar or pornographic. I can understand many people's reluctance to go into great detail about their intimate activities, but an evaluation of the escort's intellect, enthusiasm, versatility, open-mindedness and creativity, both inside and outside the bedroom, certainly enhances a review's usefulness.

But anecdotes, details and humour (not to mention the review as a whole) should be about the escort and not the client. The client has a separate area to reveal his own character, preferences and personality traits to allow a reviewer to evaluate the client's similarities/differences with their own. The review section is your chance to amplify or expand on your one-word answer to the Lived Up? field...

I totally understand your POV, alan, but can I be a little contrary too?

IMO a SoCal beach-side fly-by in a private plane isn't a "usual" date. It should be mentioned because it makes "meet me at the Hilton" pale in comparison. It does set a tone.

I actually enjoyed reading this review, for the first time in a long time. This review conveyed the reviewer's sense of excitement and enthusiasm about the date, and described the way the escort matched that enthusiasm.

It's all well and good to expect information about the escort in a review, but information about the client's general level of enthusiasm beyond "Lived Up" is great to have.

I certainly can see your point... the review probably gave too much unnecessary information about the client... but the fact that the escort seems to have handled himself quite professionally after having tumbled into such an unconventional situation with an unusual and possibly eccentric client is information that is well worth knowing.

Regarding writing style, some of us are Shakespeare others are e e cummings…

I like the review in many ways, but on the other hand, it also left me with the impression that maybe I shouldn't hire escorts. There are a few reviews of escorts where a person gets a sense that the various reviewers have a lot that they can offer or do for an escort, because they have sizeable bank accounts. So I would not be surprised if others like myself who are not big wage earners tend to feel out of place, and in fact wonder if we can entertain an escort as well, or satisfy them as well, as the person who reviewed Hayden.

Most of us want to make sure the escort has a great time too, but I think its a lot harder to make an escort happy if a person does not a big wage earner.

Hopefully one should never ever have to "feel out of place"… and perhaps I have been fortunate, but no escort has ever made me feel uncomfortable in that regard. Indeed if the guy is doing his job and being professional it is his responsibility to treat you with respect and give you due consideration whether you meet at a Motel Six or the Ritz Carlton.

We all don't drive the same type of car or frequent the same type of restaurants... when you go to the opera or a sporting event you can sit in the ten dollar seats or the two hundred dollar seats... You may want to go to only one event a year and sit in an expensive seat or you may choose to attend several events and sit in the nosebleed section.

In other words there is a tush for every toilet seat... and a toilet seat for every tush... and some of those tushes sit on a variety of toilet seats... and visa versa.

Louis thanks for the comment because that was how I was feeling. This is in no way on knock against client or escort, just one of the more unusual reviews. I actually had a feeling it was vignette (sorry if mis-spelled) from a love novel. I defintely see the value in including the environment of the meeting, it give it a flair, but it seemed more for a courtesian or the other high end guys that we hear very little about on the line. I guess I do wish I had something like that to offer or a cruise on QE II or something lavish just for the hell of it. Great fantasy, but I would still have loved to hear just a bit more about the opening meeting in the bathroom.

Louis, the escort is supposed to entertain YOU and make YOU feel satisfied, not vice versa. So buck up, son, and don't be afraid that he will look down his nose at your particular car/plane/yacht/estate--if he wants to earn his fee, your money is as good as anyone else's, and if he has any sense, he will know that.
