What Happened to--Athan

Athan came to LA from Texas several years ago, had a meteoric career, retired, returned to the biz--his fondness for bareback caught up with him and let to negative reviews.

 

Recent emails to him have gone unanswered

 

Anyone know how he's doing?

I have only been checking this forum out for a short time but I have to say I am amazed at some of the things that I read.

 

In Example: Athan has a current ad on Rentboy; and I am sure all of you, like I, check that site out on a regular albeit a VERY regular basis and yet someone writes that they wonder about the whereabouts of Athan.

 

Furthermore, you speculate that Athan has passed away. If that is the case, who the fuck is paying for the ad? I suggest we contact Tom Weise and ask him for a notorized afidavit of proof that Athan is still alive!

 

This site is a very useful tool but somehow I think many of us (excluding me, of couse LOL) are running amuck

I didn't speculate on anything. I specificly stated that I recalled reading on this site that he was no longer with us, and asked for someone in the know to comment.

 

However, after researching a number of sources, I discovered that the escort I recalled reading about on this site is Jason Rylee from Boston. I think you can verify that this is correct. I'd rather not say why I confused the two, but I'm sorry if I misled anyone. And I'm certainly glad to hear that Athan is still with us and apologize to him for my incorrect recollection. Further, I'm sure regular posters would have set things straight based on direct knowledge.

 

Now calm down and don't be so hard on people. Again, I never said anything definitive. Slamming people for the slightest reason is the sort of thing that chased a lot of people from this site.

I think your memory is flawed here.

 

I do not remember speculation about Athan passing. Many others, sure, but not Athan.

 

I'm one of the guys who have hired Athan in the past, and I fell in serious like with him. News of his passing would ABSOLUTELY have registered with me, and I don't remember it being posted here.

I'm not promoting any agenda, and I think it's unfair to accuse me of such a thing without a shred of evidence. I have always provided accurate information in my posts and have never promoted any agenda on the MC. On the other hand, there were and are plenty of people who do. Accusing a poster of something like this only serves to discourage people from posting.

 

See my edited reply above. Please don't second guess a mistaken, but not ill-intentioned recollection. It discourages people from posting at all, as shown by all the people who have left the MC because they were slammed for reasons that didn't justify it, or couldn't tolerate all the shouting matches. Someone recently posted a list of all the members who have not posted who were once frequent posters.

Please be more careful. Death rumors can downright wreck a guy's business. "I didn't show up because I heard you were dead" is actually a fairly valid excuse. :+

 

It pays to be EXTREMELY cautious on this topic.

I agree that I should have used more discretion in making my original comment. But let's not start accusing every person who makes a comment that is lacking in discretion of "having an agenda."

 

That accusation was an "indiscretion" that also deserves an apology.

 

There have been so many poisonous personal conflicts that have truly shown incredibly bad discretion in the history of this web site that we can't slam every poster who makes a mistake.

Hi Everyone,

 

So...I get this call from a concerned friend who leaves a message that he heard that I might have died... Yeah....um....that's a big NO.

 

I am still alive and kicking (though I did recently attend my Mother's funeral).

 

I have been horribly out of communication with a large majority of phonecalls and emails...usually in regards to new or unfamiliar people... and I appologize for that.

 

You see, I am once again a full-time student at an Art School and, as the amount of homework each week is so much, I simply haven't had enough time to manage things propperly. (more accurately, I have yet to find a balance in my school, personal and working life...I can't even remember the last time I had the free time and energy to even have sex for fun...pretty sad, I know.)

 

I appreciate everyone's concern/curiosity. It's nice to be thought of.
