So as everyone knows lol i needed advice for my trips, my pictures and now on things to do in NYC and LA. I have very little interest when it comes to people hiring me in either of these cities thus far, so im curious if there is anything else to do since i wont be having many clinets? What kinds of things are sightly less tourist-trap areas and are just fun to do, by myself if need be, as most escorts dont respond to emails from another escort, especially when it doesnt involve a client and just meer hanging out. So this is my question to the good people of M4M, now enlighten me with your wisdom. ;)

I am inclined to think that your schedule will fill up as you get closer to travel time.

If you are looking for free or inexpensive things to do, I would start with the Christmas windows in the major department stores, the tree in Rockerfeller Center, a quick tour of FAO Schwartz for all the toys you could have ever wanted as a child, and then perhaps the shops in Greenwich Village and Chelsea for all the toys you could ever want as an adult. A full day at the Metropolitan Museum is a bargain, but wear comfortable shoes. The Planetarium and the Museum of Natural History have been favorites of mine since grade school, of course there were only four planets back then.

And of course if you really want something exciting to do, come to Jersey and look me up.

FAO Schwartz is a definite destination in New York, but not as inteersting as it used to be. If you like fancy hot chocolate, stop in at Rumplemeyer's (nearby). If you like glass, stop at Stueben, which is as much a gallery as a shop.

An interesting off-beat museum is the Museum of Sex (it's in lower Manhattan, relatively close to Chelsea. The Museum of the American Indian at the base of Manhattan also is interesting. They are cliches but the Empire State Building & the Statute of Liberty (plus Ellis Island) are interesting, esp. if you catch mild weather, w/o a lot of wind. When I was younger and truly had no money, I discovered walking in New York was pretty entertaining and I still enjoy doing it unless the weather is extreme. A walk on a weekday (more lively than the weekend) from the tip of Manhattan to Central Park, up Broadway will take you close to the West Village, Little Italy, Chinatown, Union Square, and various architectural landmarks. A walk across the Brooklyn Bridge (it has pedestrian way in the middle which helps if you have a fear of heights) gives you panoramic views of the city. The Upper West Side is getting big-boxed, but a walk up Amsterdam will take you by H&M Bagels (better than anything in Orlando) and Barney Greenglass (a great place for a lox & eggs breakfast), and interesting book stores. The Village also remains an interesting place to stroll, with quirky shops, small restaurants, etc. Soho is good on Saturdays--very lively and still many galleries, although the rents are starting to push them out.

In LA, you'll probably need a car, although the public transit system isn't as bad as it's rep. Either way, you'll need time & patience, esp. on a weekday. There are quriky places to shop along Melrose and Thrid Street on the Western side of LA. Silver Lake (the old gay ghetto) is making a comeback & WEst Hollywood is good for strolling and to see/be seen. Venice Beach is worth a daytrip and can be done as a long walk from Sanat Monica which has an interesting pier and a semi-interesting downtown. Venice isn't quite the "scene" it used to be (which means the it's far less pretentious), but it still has entertainers, quirky shops & vendors, muscle beach, and a socially very diverse crowd of people lounging at the beach (the water is cold, esp. this time of year), BTW).

Keep in mind that LA tends to be a disappointment this time of year: dreary, cloudy, relatively cold, occasionally drizzly, and not a lot of sun. I used spend Christmas with family in LA on a regular basis and there were even years when the weather was the same or warmer back in the Midwest or on the East Coast (and certaiunly sunnier). The LA you've always heard about hibernates until sometimes as late as April.

NYC can be Totally Entertaining outside of the Bedroom..

For the Most Part! LOL

But "The Museum of Sex" unless you are into reading about the Kama Sura, 1920 Stag Loops etc... I would skip! It actually is boring, usually full of College Girls gigling at really nothing! I got a Discount to get In and I still found it not worth an Admission....

My BKLYN Bridge is Fantastic to take The Walk Across. Just make sure now that it is the Colder Months, you check the Wind First! LOL

Enjoy your NYC Visit Sexy ..... :p :P :p

aww thanks lol and i know that like the week b4 people will start calling, its like Xmas shopping, men always wait until the last minute and then they run out and buy things, just in the nick of time. Sadly that leaves an escort scrambling and such without plans :( but either way NYC will be fun, cold and ill freeze my balls off when outside but hopefully someone will be there to warm them once i come indoors. HAHA i think they should have those in department stores, BALL warmers, lol " May I take your coat sir, and would u like to try out our new ball warming service" Sorry im just rambling lol i thought it was funny.

Warming up...

Or you could try hooking up with Trey Thursten who's advertising that he'll be in the big apple around the same time.

I think the two of you could make some lovely babies if you just try hard enough ;)

Christ, Rick.....I clicked on your bagel place link and then looked at their menu page(s).....I'm a southwestern guy myself and don't know much about NY Jewish delis and all that, but, MAN!.....that menu is awesome!....

I'd be so intimidated if I was in there trying to order...been to NY a few times, but I'm never ready for the 'tude back there....great place to visit, but..................

have you seen these new Domino's commercials for a Brooklyn-style pizza?...they really ham up the Brooklyn attitude and accent!....some are complaining about the commercials, I've read.....

I'm sorry to hear that but I bet you experienced that attitude mostly in midtown, where they are accustomed to tourists, who themselves can be obnoxious (so I've heard :p ). This place, Ess-a Bagel, is a tiny little neighborhood shop that's been there for 30 years and they are very friendly and accomodating. Most native New Yorkers are friendly and warm...but I'd keep away from midtown and the tourist traps!

Although I live in San Diego, I do get up to LA pretty frequently (usually when I am looking for a "big city" fix) and here are a few faves:

- The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Wilshire in the Miracle Mile area. It is free after 5PM

http://www.lacma.org

- The LaBrea Tar Pits, not far from LACMA, and the accompanying museum are fun, if a little kitschy. Its free to roam the grounds and a couple of bucks to get into the museum. It is worth it.

- Speaking of the Miracle Mile, if you are a fan of architecture, that area has some great examples of Art Deco buildings.

- Farmers Market up on the Westside is an old market that now has, what else, a mall attached to it. The juxtaposition of old mom-and-pop stalls and Pottery Barn is worth the trip.

- The Getty Center is a phenomenal museum, mainly for the grounds. It is north of Santa Monica Blvd off Sepulveda, if memory serves. The views are stunning.

- Downtown Santa Monica is kinda cool to walk around and so is the area around 11th and Montana, about a mile north and a mile or so east of Downtown Santa Monica.

Someone mentioned that although a car is a good idea while in LA, the public transit system isn't bad and I second that emotion. For $5 you can buy a day pass and get to all of the attractions I listed above and then some. The Red Line subway station at Hollywood and Vine is very cool...all done up in a movie motif.

Have fun while in LA!

In NYC, depending on the weather, take one of the boat trips all the way around Manhattan Island. Not sure if they run this time of year, but check it out. Boats leave from docks on the lower West side.

Explore the art galleries in the converted factory buildings on 23rd Street in the Chelsea district.

For both places, read some fantastic articles in some back issues of PASSPORT Travel magazine which is for the gay (principally male) clientele.

If you don't have a good bookstore or mag. place that carries the mag., try to see if it's on the web. Since I am a subscriber, I don't know if the magazine has made it on web as yet. Also OUTTRAVELER, an adjunct of OUT magazine is a valid travel mag offering solid guidance.

Try to use the above in conjunction with what the guys here have shared and given to you! :9
