If you have any escort friends in your area they might be good candidate photographers. You might consider trading off photographing each other. Additionally with a fellow escort you can be completly open. Another escort isn't going to be shocked photographing you while you a playing with your clothing and your body. Just be sure to let your imagination go wild while you are in front of the camera. In fact use your imagination during your photo sessions in exactly the same way you use your imagination in sessions with clients.

I live in Fort Frances...which is five hours from Winnipeg, roughly four hours from Thunder Bay, and right across the border from International Falls Minnesota. The use to do Sears Die Hard battery commercials out on Rainy Lake, which is the lake shared by the US and Canada.

There are 8,000 to 9,000 people in town here, and International Falls has around 7,000 people.

So there are no escorts in these parts.

Wow, that's even more isolated than I thought. I spent a year in Winnipeg and found it bad enough, but a town with 9000 people, in that climate belt sounds like it could be very lonely. Is there ANY gay activity there? My guess would be that there are very few gays around and that most activity would be at house parties - but I could be wrong. I hope you're nicely settled with a partner.

What's International Falls like?

Back on task---nice pics. I like the hoodie, but frontal shots with it shouldn't dominate the slide show. Turn it into a bit more of striptease prop (put the top down, gradually show more chest, then your ass and then show us there's nothing below). As others mention, a bit more smiling--a couple smile shots in the hoodie collection would help keep interest on that theme. The ass pics are fine--not everyone has an ass that seems ready for porn. The soccer sequence is a little too repetitive--a shorter slide show with the same theme would be just as effective. A closer shot of your cock in each of these galleries would help, along with a closer view of your chest.

The site is uncomplicated and shows the the parts of you that customers will want to see and gives basics. The only thing I'd add is the basics of what you'll do with clients, which can be terse ("versatile fun", "no kink", etc.). I wouldn't use any contact mechanism that includes the name of your school or anything else that compromises your privacy. Orlando seems to have lots of turnover and lots of generic names (popular names for men of your generation)--your a surname is a good idea, along with your relatively unique email alias. The blog is a good way to add more info about yourself, while controlling the content. You need to decide how much you want to disclose. Less is probably better in the beginning, until you see the reaction you get. More about hobbies, interests, aspirarions might hook some clients who want a longer time with you, but those things can probably generate a lot of unproductive (and odd) emails. Your rentboy stats are a little different from those on the webpage--a small diff, but keeping that stuff consistent makes a better impression.

If you don't know someone with a camera to borrow, you might be able to rent a 35mm digital camera from a good camera store (probably not someplace like Wolf/Ritz)--get a zoom 70-200mm as well as "standard" (28-70mm) lens. I have one--not difficult to use. Mount it on a tripod and use the timer that a good camera will have; you'll be able to get more and better effects than a webcam.

Last suggestion--make a trip to DC!

Agree that getting a digital camera will produce higher quality than the webcam. And, yes, I like the smile -- and the last pix on page 2!

"i know everyones opinions will vary

But few are worth considering, unless those silly, homogenized market-research findings are the quality of opinions you're seeking. Here's my professional opinion:

The concept of less-is-more escapes many designers, which is why much of what we see looks amateurish and/or watered down. It's important to accept that few images are truly great and, if you place too many mediocre images among the truly great ones, you dilute the impact and the drama that the great images provide. Contact sheets are for pre-edits and not for public viewing. Only let your public see the very best shots (even though some gay men can never get enough).

Pics 1

Image #1 is divine. I think I like it better than your home page photo (#9), which seems to have resizing issues because it's distorted on the home page. #9 is a good shot but your left eye seems a little sleepy. Could be the shadow caused by the hoodie.

Image #2 is OK. It could be much better. I think torso shots should not have anything distracting in the background.

Image #3,4,7, and 8 are too similar and reduce the viewing pleasure to redundancy. The strongest image in this group is #4. I would trash the others.

Image #5 is OK. I prefer a wife-beater for an ass shot. The hoodie doesn't style well here.

#6 is weird. Ass is too cropped, hoodie styling a disaster. It looks like you're sporting female breasts. What's the cord in the background? I shouldn't have to ask or wonder. Good ass shots don't come easy. Work on it.

Pics 2

I don't like the flat lighting in any of these shots because it makes your body look flat and undefined. The backgrounds look unprofessional.

Image #3 reminds me of a chorus dancer. I would trash it.

You look strained and double-chinned in #10. You look deformed in #14.

#12 could be sexy without all the distracting garbage in the background.

I like the mystery in #17. You look like a bowler in #18.

#21 is cliche, too many balls.

Your strength is your face, especially your eyes, and that's why the hoodie shots work. They reveal a sexy bad boy hiding.

Your hair reminds me of Scott Adler, which means problematic issues. Stick with hoods, hats, and caps or cut your hair military short.

I love your cock, especially its shape and size, but without decent lighting, dark shadow spots appear and make it look unappealing.

I sincerely hope this helps. Thanks for sharing. Btw, love your name. :-)

I agree that you should use picture one as your profile pic.

It is good that you are incorporating your love of soccer in your pics. It personalizes it. I think you should try another tact though. You are trying for the sultry, sexy look. How about going for the innocent, relaxed, casual, matter-of-fact, oh-I-just-so-happen to be naked look? Think you have just finished a soccer game and am in the changing rooms feeling relaxed and a bit tired. Do not pose, but go for the casual look. Try some in just a jockstrap, in just white socks, in soccer shoes, with sweat giving a slight shine to your body, with sweaty hair, with the soccer ball positioned always in the backgroud instead of too prominently. Think Abercrombie and Fitch.

As to the color of your main page, I am not sure green and grey on white looks good. It looks plain and unexciting. I think you should use bolder colors.

It is fun playing critic.

There is nothing in terms of gay activity here, and I live alone...the joys of being a "northerner":-). I ride bike and take tons of train pictures after work and on the weekends during the summer, and go fishing from time to time. So things are quite quiet around here compared to the big cities. That being said, the life style is much slower, and the air is clean.

WOW i guess i asked to be degraded by someone when putting that out there. I dont want to say to much bc i appreciate the opinion, and how u seem to think yours is more important than everyone elses. Umm to comment on the pictures themselves is fine, but to comment on me, i didnt ask for that. To comment on the background, well im sorry but i think i already stated that i lived in a dorm room, and i dont know if u lived in a dorm room but umm they arent the best of living arrangements so nothing i can do about that. Once again thank you for your opinion and maybe im just in a bad mood but i felt like snapping back.

Be careful what you ask for....cuz it isn't always going to be easy. A big part of my job is giving and receiving feedback on things that are important to people's careers (research grants and journal articles). Even in my world, some people like to be "edgy" or give a flourish. Usually it just gets in the way of the message. To me, it's what's in the foreground that counts and I suspect that's what makes a "business" site sell (not baubles or an artistic backdrop). You might get a better camera and make the lighting and focus more flattering (not hadifficult), but you've already heard that. No one expects these sites to be flashy and when someone goes that route, they practically ask for people to regularly bug them about refreshing it with something even more clever and arty. You probably should edit and update your pics periodically--it shows credibility. I'd keep one of your shower shots--they're a nice contrast with the hoody, soccer, & wife beater looks. A smile might be better for your webpage--it's just more welcoming.

When you solicit opinions, you should expect and accept the good and the bad and use them as you see fit. Although I cannot recall ever agreeing with anything RockHard has written, he did seem to spend a lot of time to give a detailed and critical review of your site, which on the whole, surprisingly, seems to be Fair and Balanced. Take what you can use, discard the rest.

Excellent advice. Brett, don't take it personally. We put ourselves out there so we have to take the good and the bad. Btw, I give guys like you and Scott Adler a lot of credit because I could never have had the nerve to do this when I was your age (well, partially because Derek and I were monogamous). Also, I like photo #4 on your first photo page. Very suckable. :9

Don't sweat it - he ALWAYS thinks his opinions are more important that anyone elses. He's not too well versed on people skills!

RE: WOW i guess i asked to be degraded

"WOW i guess i asked to be degraded by someone when putting that out there. Umm to comment on the pictures themselves is fine, but to comment on me, i didnt ask for that."

I believe all my comments were about the photos and the relationship between light and the subject of focus. If you can explain which comment was about you, the person I do NOT know, I'd be happy to respond.

"I dont want to say to much bc i appreciate the opinion, and how u seem to think yours is more important than everyone elses."

If I didn't think (know) that my opinion is more important than anybody else's, my business(es) would NOT be successful. Failure is no goal of mine.

"To comment on the background, well im sorry but i think i already stated that i lived in a dorm room, and i dont know if u lived in a dorm room but umm they arent the best of living arrangements so nothing i can do about that."

My my, you give up so easily. Not a good sign. Many of my assistants, former and current, live in the dorm rooms of various NYC colleges. In case you never heard, white paper is pretty cheap and an F4 aperture can work wonders.

"Once again thank you for your opinion and maybe im just in a bad mood but i felt like snapping back."

The escorts are always welcome to my opinions and I hope I had nothing to do with your bad mood. My critique was honest and sincere and my intent was as loving as your sweet face. So snap this: it's never too early to develop a thicker skin. Just find a good moisturizer to always keep it soft and supple.

Best wishes, Brett.

My 2 cents worth...

Critiquing someone else's work can sometimes be difficult and always has potential for misunderstandings and hurt feelings. One critiques a 6 year old's drawing that destined for the refrigerator differently than one criticizes a layout bound for XY Magazine but sometimes people forget their audience when offering criticism.

All that said here are my honest observations. Take them, leave them, ignore them, your choice.

Overall, I think what you've got so far is miles ahead of many escort's personal sites.

I agree that the grey background on the home page should change. I notice that its the same on every page and in your blog... Is it a feature of your host site?

Course this might also be an subconscious expression of your personal taste. Did you notice that other than skin tones, in your photos everything is shades of black & white? BTW black and white with your skin tone works just FINE in my opinion. Interesting that your dream guy is also a black & white...

As to the photographs themselves... I'm not sure that they do the subject justice. They are not bad (in fact they are good) they are just not as smokin' as they could be. In this website I think you're setting yourself up for that oft heard cliche "he was hotter than in his pictures"

As to specifics...

You've got a great smile and there's only one shot in all your pics of you smiling.

Almost all of your photos are shot from below eye level. You ought to experiment with some higher angles. Looking down at your photographer can come off as intimidating, even sinister while looking up at them adds to the cute/interested factor.

In all of the shots where we see your eyes, you're looking at the camera. That makes a shot immediate and great but try a few where you are obviously looking off camera (Perhaps at that almost straight boyfriend of yours) The dreamy look works too and I think it'd work well for you. It gives the viewer a bit more latitude in creating his own fantasy.

I do think that the hoodie works for you but I agree that the shot on the home page appears a bit distorted as to height. That can be fine if its done for artistic effect but I think in this case it detracts.

I don't think that you NEED to change your website. But, I think you CAN do better if you want to. Getting a second photographer can help. A different photographer is good in that they may have other ideas for improvement. He/she may also clue you in to some tricks that professional models use to make you look even hotter. e.g. There's a "torso twist" that is almost a hallmark of A&F shots. Look through a few solo shots and you'll see it. By twisting the torso it makes you look even svelter than you already are and shows off some VERY sexy musculature.

If the Rollins in your Yahoo ID refers to Rollins College I think you should have NO trouble finding a willing photographic collaborator.

Best of luck, even without the changes I know I want to hire you.
