Here's what I would do. Write him back that you require HIM to send YOU a deposit of $50 to show his good intention of showing up. Tell him you will refund this plus his session fee when the experience is over.

 

Naturally he won't do it - but it might get a point across to him. If nothing else, it should piss him off.
