Client chutzpah, jitters, naif

As some of you know, I have a close personal relationship with an escort and today we needed to drive across town so he could pick up the necessary parts to build a new computer. On the way his cell rang, and I listened while he said, "No, I've never done that, and I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it." Turns out the client asked him if he'd take a check. This was at 4 pm when banks were still open. In his 1 1/2 years of escorting, it was the first time he'd been asked that question. We joked about the "credibility" of the client while he drove to the computer super-store. Only a few minutes later the client called back to say he had the cash and could my escort buddy meet him with 15 minutes?

 

Bottom line, the client turned out to be a very nervous first-time client who apologized for his "check gaffe" and tipped my escort buddy well.

 

I guess my point is, obviously escorts should not accept checks unless perhaps they're from regular clients, but also that not all clients who ask such innocent questions are looking to cheat the escort.

 

To his credit, my escort buddy played it just right and ended up with (a) a very nice tip and (b) a likely new regular client.
