Dear Unicorn, As was pointed out in another thread recently and probably in dozens if you go back into the archives, we all have different tastes in men. Personally, most of the young counterculture types, especially in London it would seem, are quite to some people's tastes, but not mine. Too skinny, for one thing. And I'm sure that I would rather feel comfortable with someone who might not appeal to everyone than intimidated (in a non Leather way) with someone who did. I was a bit taken aback the first time a client wanted to spend part of his session just nuzzling my tummy, as it is a bit heavier than most clients would like. Some people make you feel like you're just not acceptible for anyone because you don't appeal to them personally. If you're not careful, you can sometimes take it personally and let it get you down. But it can be just as surprising when someone zeroes in on what he wants, and its you - for a reason you aren't used to. Especially when he's taken a few hour drive just to get to you. Ah, well .... Perhaps the most surprising thing I learned when I first began hiring male prostitutes is how many men manage to earn some money at that trade even though they are not at all attractive by conventional standards. Certainly, if you take the models shown in general interest gay magazines as a standard of attractiveness, few of the people reviewed on this site come up to that standard. Nevertheless, Bilbo is right; there are people out there who are attracted to those who don't meet conventional standards, and apparently there are enough of them to allow the unattractive to make some money.

I hope/think that there is a fine line between the conventionally unattractive and the unconventionally attractive. This kind of attraction is more difficult for an amateur photographer to capture in print, perhaps. But there are magazines and movies devoted to what one might call the natural man, or The Bear. There's even a comic strip about a very happy family, Rose is Rose, where the husband has not been able to admit to his wife that she turns him on more when he thinks of her as heavier than she is. I remember one strip where he had to run her into the bedroom quickly after he had seen her reflected in the hubcap of the car he was washing, much as one would in a fun house mirror. There are fewer people who are excited about things which Madison Ave. hasn't been trying to sell them, but I don't like the idea of people making fun of my customers for liking me, or for any reason. A fear of which may be one reason why most of them simply don't feel comfortable writing reviews here. Perhaps their dislike of the requirement of giving their phone number is tied into that. Anyway, I hear that we may be able to do at least partly away with that once Daddy has us completely switched to some new software.

Bilbo makes an excellent point. In the final anaylsis "viva la difference". Just consider, for a moment, what the hourly escort fee would be if we all liked and sought to hire the same type of guys. Fees are already between $200 and $300 an hour in markets like L.A. and New York. Check out today's (09/30/04) reviews. There are some guys listed that I wouldn't hire in a thousand years BUT, to the best of my knowledge, nobody has elected me the ultimate arbitrator of good taste.
