"Client Inquiry" Received by an EScort

A glimpse into some of the shit escorts get in their email: this was shared with me recently by an escort buddy. FYI, the contact was made through guys4rent, but it could be through any site:

Bank (ICB) Kaneshie branch in Accra the capital city of Ghana, I am a

Ghanaian married with two kids.

 

I have packaged a financial transaction that will benefit you and I. As

the manager of this branch, it's my duty to send financial reports to my

head office here in Accra-Ghana. On the course of the last year 2004 end

of the year's report, I discovered that this branch in which I am the

manager made Two Million Five Hundred and Fifty Thousand; United States

Dollars (2,550.000.00) of which my head Office is not aware of and will

never be aware of it. I had since then PLACED this fund on a SUSPENCE

ACCOUNT without a beneficiary for it.

 

Because I cannot be directly connected to this fund as an officer in the

Bank, I impelled to request for your assistance to receive this money in

your bank account. All I need from you is to stand as the depositor of

this FUND to my branch. I intend to part 20% of this fund to you while 80%

for me, I do need to assure you there are practically no risk involved in

these, It will be bank-to-bank transfer.

Ummm ... dude ... this is one of the oldest email scams on the books. You don't have to be an escort to get them.

It always amazes me that the originator of the scam actually thinks there is anyone out there dumb enough to fall for this.

I get different versions of this email weekly but what bothers me is that now I'm getting them mailed to my home and business.The envelopes are hand addressed making them look like a personal letter.I turned the last 2 over to my local post office.

these have been coming for years; first by mail and now email. we get up to 3 or 4 a wek at my office.

 

at a law firm in kansas city, one of the women "borrowed" money from one of the trust funds and sent it off to nigeria about 2 or 3 years ago on one of these scams.

 

never under estimate the stupidity of people who want something for nothing; this is the american dream. look at all the mathematically challenged people who go to los vegas (those places are not "giving away" money).

I wonder how these scammers choose their potential victims(?)--I, along with several of my colleagues, received almost the same email at our college faculty email addresses, at least five years ago.

One current crop of victims is anyone placing a for-sale ad on Craig's List. Bizarre offers for payment are sent to you.

 

The former utility of Craig's List is no more.

Ummm, yeah, I know it's been around forever. I was just surprised that they would take the time to individually contact escorts on listing sites. Keep in mind, this email came through guys4rent to the escort, not directly via spam.

This is not an "everybody gets this shit" deal. Consider:

 

This con game (a) took the time to go to a website listing male4male escorts (guys4rent), and (b) one-by-one sent emails to each escort © through the listing site to promote their scam. That's a far cry from the usual spam approach to luring clueless people into these online schemes. I was just struck by the amount of work they put into it, and that they targeted m4m escorts. Maybe they have to dig deeper these days to find suckers. Well, come to think oft, maybe that's why they targeted male4male escorts. }(
