I will be in San Francisco Oct 7th & 8th. I checked out the guys on craigslist and found several to be very interesting. I was wondering what kind of luck any of you in cyber space have had using Craigslist. Also, would really appreciate any advise as to a possible gay friendly, reasonable hotel. Any thoughts on the following:

Beck's Lodge

The Touchstone Hotel

The parker Guest House

Renoir Hotel

Best Western Americana

Would also appreciate any other recommendations.

Thanks for any information.

There are several Craigslist threads...

There's two, you can find more by using the forum search feature (the one right above the forums/threads, not all the way at the top). Have fun!

I've never stayed there (because I live in SF), but I understand that the Parker Guest House is nice. Reports on Becks vary and depend on what you want. It certainly is right in the Castro, so it's conveniently located. It is a very basic motel, though I did see one of their larger rooms once and it looked pretty nice for a motel of this type. Unless you don't care about traffic noise (or noise from drunken partiers late at night), however, you absolutely must insist on getting an "interior" room since most of their rooms will have either noise from Market Street in the front or noise from 15th Street in the back.

As to checking out escorts on Craigslist, it's hit or miss...mostly miss. It's generally the same handful of guys posting over and over anyway, and some of their ads are very off-putting (to me anyway). I don't know why I want to hire someone who "doesn't normally do this" but "is desperate to pay rent." Or someone who doesn't have a picture to send or insists on getting mine first. Or someone who is basically "trade" ("Pay me $100 and I'll let you blow me.") I have found a couple of interesting guys on CL over the past couple of years, though, so it may be worth your while. I just think that you'll be able to choose better with the additional information provided on escorts listed here.

I've stayed at the BW Americana innumerable times and have liked this lodging. If you want private-- request room on quiet side--upper floor; their courtyard adds to the ambiance, and parking is free. I was there just last week; the hotel seemingly was quiet throughout--no problem with guests visiting.

...been in the Renoir twice. I found it lent to why I was there. It's comfortable, but I have not been there in over a year; there is a hefty parking fee of, I think, thirty-five dollars per day.

I agree with Guy... Craig's List is probably not the way to go if you're in town for a short while. Better off checking at Rentboy, or the reviews here. If you have the time, you could try POSTING an ad on CL explaining exactly what your looking for. Let the guys come to you.

I found a real gem this way, who doesn't post ads, but occasionally answers them. And I'm ever, ever so happy... .
