Well, I finally had my first experience with a guy off of Craig's List!! He answered an ad I placed, and after a week and a half of e-mails he came over this afternoon. It took a bit of patience, because he's definitely not out, and was worried about his roomies finding out what was going on (Ah, remember the delicious paranoia of being in the closet?)

Anyway, this young man was an exquisitely handsome blue-collar type, 30 something, sexy, 5 O'clock shadow, and, once behind closed doors, a wildman in bed. He had a few quirks, but don't we all!

During a lengthy post-coital chat I asked him about answering my ad, and he said he looks for odd-jobs on the other "services" categories, and occasionally peeps into the "erotic" section. He said he answers ads now and then for "sexual release". In fact, he never asked about money, I had to remind him to take it as he was leaving. (I always leave it in plain site on a table near the door.)

All in all a really great experience! Especially since it only cost a hundred bucks! I think there is something to this CL thing, after all.

I've turned another to the dark side. }( Or is that simply the affordable side? In my running CL thread I mentioned the revelation (to me) that there's a lot of activity in the Men Seeking Men section too, some escorts, many guys looking to have fun, and such a wide range of preferences amongst the lurkers who respond to the postings I think it would be hard for anybody not to find at least one close enough match for some fun given enough patience.

 

There really is something to be said about meeting up with those that enjoy the sex as sex, not as a vaguely enjoyable part of 'work' at best... I'm sure there are a couple posters on CL that are just really desperate for cash and don't enjoy it at all, but I have yet to run into a male one!

 

Along that line, heard an interesting song today, a main lyric was something like 'girls don't like boys, they like money and cars...' You should see the wars from rip-off women and the men they've stiffed in LA erotic (including one nasty bitch that posts a guys cell number in convincing gay ads... then again she could be doing him a favor given the alternative is running into more like her...). Maybe I'm just lucky, but I don't think you see that very often in M4M, then again maybe that's just because we don't have anything in the way of male strip clubs down here in LA spreading the attitude they seem to give 'entertainers'... Was wondering about it today though after I had my third good experience with a specific guy I found through CL.

I envy your success. My experience with CL in LA has not been good. They either don't show up, don't return email, or are such that I would never do them for free much less pay them. What's the secret to your success?

Sadly, I just haven't had ANY time to go into the City and do streetwalking (a lovely pastime, and great for the calves!) since coming back from my vacation this summer. I've been working two jobs as of late, which takes up six days of the week. But I hope to haunt the Mission again a few times this Fall. For some reason, Autumn has always been my luckiest season!

Yes James, I definitely have you to thank. It was your ongoing thread that led me to persevere. Have you run an ad as a client, to see what kind of response you get? It seemed to attract a whole different crop o' guys than the ones most frequently running their own ads.

About that song lyric... I've found that to be true of many, many boys as well.

Well, in the CL LA thread there are some guys' emails, you could try them if they float your boat. In that and other CL threads there's mention of my technique, but a quick summary: either for posting an ad as a client (works great in Men Seeking Men, aka M4M, even when I'm not offering cash, not nearly as well in erotic services, with $$$ of course, but still eventually found something...) is to take some control. State what you're looking for (I state it as things I like doing, things I may like doing... may help that I'm not insistent on topping or kissing--still usually get both), my first email to the prospective hookup describes me pretty thoroughly (and it's not a flattering description), I mention I'd like a nice relaxing session, maybe 90 minutes, and I mention I'd like to pay about $XXX. (Usually $100 or $150.) I think it helps to write a little, especially in M4M, makes your post stand out from the dozen 'come and blow me/fuck me/jerk me/etc' posts (I put my description in the non-commercial posts, skip it in the commercial ones but send it in email to the respondents).

 

Patience is the key, you're not going to start looking on CL at 5 and have somebody at your door by 5:30, or even necessarily that evening. I respond to the posts that interest me (responding to ads works better in Erotic Services then posting, but as you noticed, you'll get different guys each way, some post and some just lurk and respond), even if I'm not looking for that evening, we work out the details, and I get a number, makes things a lot easier. I mention the next day I may be available, and we email back and forth once or twice as it approaches, then I call them that day (this may be why I've not had a no-show, talking to the person helps put them at ease). Once or twice I've called when I'm horny, works sometimes, but not as well as when they have notice (though probably better then calling a regular reviewed escort on HooBoy's...). I've canceled a couple lately (usually with good notice, as much as a day, and none were confirmed sessions, just 'I may want to get together Friday' type things), hopefully those guys will bear with me, but to tell the truth I'm not sure the couple I've not tried yet in my 'CL little black book' (aka email folder) are $100-$150 better then what I've gotten for free in the M4M section...

 

If you're posting give it some time to work, and re-post occasionally (a post is unlikely to get any more responses once it's dropped of the first page). M4M (Men Seeking Men) moves very fast, you may want to post in the morning, afternoon, and evening to make sure it's seen, Erotic services you wouldn't need more then twice a day if that (talking about LA here). As I said, given enough patience I think just about anybody could hookup there, even without offering $$$ if they're not set on an 18-25 yr old gym bunny (even with $$$ this isn't commonly available on CL... as I've said, guys next door looking to have fun and maybe make some $$$ too). I've had two good non-commercial hookups with late twenties guys--even without sending a pic, in just about 3 or 4 days of posting on M4M. Have found maybe 6 or 8 good hookups for $$$ on CL LA Erotic Services, over the last month and a half or so.

 

Of course another shortcut to hookup with a CL-LA guy is to come to the meeting at Numbers, I'm pretty sure Anthony is going to be there, and have invited one or two others...

 

Wow, that's a pretty damn long 'quick summary'! BTW, location matters too, I'm a bit out of the way, Orange County people probably have similar problems (patience--it works eventually) and guys in the Santa Monica/Venice/310 area seem to have it made, the lucky bastards!

My response just above your post is half in response to your question, got them mixed up as I rambled on...

 

I've had a couple that I think are somewhat quick for the door, but that's after we've both come, and it's just as easily that my expectations are unreasonable... Otherwise I guess I've done pretty damn well...

 

No experience I'd rather not have had yet, though I'm starting to think I can only say that because I cancelled one as we were just about to commit to him coming over yesterday... The emails had been somewhat cold (happens sometimes, these guys have to deal with a lot of collectors that have no intention of doing anything), and he asked for my number instead of offering his, but neither of these things individually were that bad... Together they started to put me off a little, but he'd sent hot pictures (one obviously from when he was 19 or so and had a perfect body, but the other one looked like a reasonable pic of a nice looking 24 or so year old, as he was supposed to be, sitting in his living room playing with his dick, only showed half his face--over the shoulder shot, but what I could see looked quite cute and the other head started to weigh in on the decision making process, despite that I've said several times an accurate description is much better then unknown pics...), but then he sent me a face pic, which I *hadn't asked for*, just before he was to call me for my address and to setup the appointment. This pic was god-awful (not sure if he's 10-15 years older then the body pic or a different guy entirely)... on top of that he'd sent it to about 6-8 people, so all our email addresses were visible to each other. And I'd given him my number... Emailed that 'I'd been called into work' as soon as I got the email (mentioned the way the pic was sent wasn't a good idea). The service vibe I'd had was strengthened by listening to the couple calls I let go to voicemail (seemed to be from two different people...), thankfully he hasn't called again since. Not even sure I would've turned him away if he'd just shown up, I think the photographer and choice of the moment of the shot may have had a lot to do with it (I hope, for the guys sake). Then again, I don't see how that head could've belonged to the body/half face sitting in the chair I'd liked in this time/space realm, and the pretty cold emails, which were the first inkling I'd had of a service, (or possibly cop, but still don't think they'd be doing outcall busts) make me think I may have dodged a bullet. Not sure, but better safe then sorry and other obvious tripe. Pretty sure I had a better time by calling Anthony for a third appointment then if I'd kept going with this one though.

Well, I can't remember what the ad said verbatim... I believe I titled the ad "Seeking Latin and/or Blue Collar Men" Inside I wrote something along the lines of GWM, blah, blah, blah, (stats) seeking erotic encounter with blue collar type guy, any race (latino a plus!) Please reply with a pic, if possible.

That's pretty much it. Oh, I think I included an age range too. I wasn't exactly swamped with replies, and the guy I hooked up with actually repled four days later - extremely late I think by CL standards, given how quickly an ad gets buried there.

I don't know if that helps. I guess all I can say is if you're placing an ad, try to be specific about what your looking for. It might be a good idea to repeatedly post the ad every other day for a week, because they get buried so fast. That way you'll get maximum exposure to the guys who check into CL every so often.

I notice that you didn't mention money in your ad. Did you get any replies from guys who were expecting to get paid for their time?

I think it's best to let them sell themselves. You might find that a lot of the guys on CL are not "professionals" and are willing to meet for a lot less than you'd think. Let them name a price.
