For one, let me say off the bat that under no circumstances should you hire someone for a week without meeting them first (hiring them for at least an hour). Second, I think you're not asking in the best way. Long-term hires are always a process of negotiation. It's not a fixed price like a bag of Oreos at the supermarket.

When I've done long-term hires, I've hired the guy for a roll in the hay, then said something along the lines of "Gee, I had a great time. You know, I'm going to Rio for a week in a couple of months, and I think we could have a great time. I can't afford to pay a standard weekly rate, but I wouldn't insist you stay with me the whole time. You could spend some days on your own if you like, as long as we're together in the evening." Then I listen to his reaction.

Some of the big-name escorts (Michael Vincenzo is the only one I remember off-hand) will say no (besides, he has a boyfriend). Most, however, will say "Yeah, that sounds like fun." He may at that point quote a figure, but usually, you can say something like "Do you think you could join me for $1500?" and see what he says. After all, few escorts make over $1500/week, and almost none make $1500 plus the airfare, hotel, meals, etc. (a one-week trip also eliminates the frustrations of day-to-day life for escorts such as bogus calls and so forth) If you want to negotiate up to $2000 or whatever, that's up to you.

When you just ask an escort "What do you charge?," though, he was no idea what you can afford, so he'll quote some huge fee he may have seen on another escort's website. I don't think that when most escorts come up with $5000, that they really expect that to be anything but a starting point for negotiation. After all, if you go into a carpet shop in Morocco, Turkey, or India, and the salesman offers a carpet for $500, you can probably negotiate him down to $200 (sometimes less if you're really skilled and/or go during a slow season). As one of the travel guide books once said, if you accept the first offer, he'll be upset because he would think you'd have accepted a higher price!

Well, I'm sure there are clients who can and are willing to pay $5000 escort fees, first class air, hotel, plus local escort fees for 3 ways, but unfortunately I'm not one of them.

 

I just don't understand why anyone would want to pay even $2000/wk to provide all of the above for an escort they have never met, especially if the escort is on his own to roam except to meet up for dinner? What is the point? As inexpensive as the boys are in Rio, you could have many experiences even 4somes for this much money.

 

Also, to expect an escort who doesn't know the client to fly to Rio on just the say so of the client is a rather iffy proposition. True the airfare is indicative of intent to follow thru, but what would happen if the escort went there and he and the client mixed as well as oil and water? Doesn't the escort run the chance of being abandoned/stranded in a foreign country to make his own way home and wouldn't this then be a big waste of the client's money?

 

If the escort was someone I had been with several times and totally enjoyed spending time with outside the bedroom and I could easily afford it, then I could see doing this, otherwise not.

I agree with VAHawk! but just to put this in simple economic terms(and I admit I am biased as I am leaving in 3 weeks for my 6th trip in 20 months!) for $5,000. U.S.(at today's exchange rate), you could spend an hour or more apiece with >> 289 << Brazilian boys! But really, after reading about Rio from this board, I am putting it on my list of places to go to in the future! Sounds like a fantastic place to go visit and just relax and have one helluva a good time.

 

I just don't understand why anyone would want to pay to take a "piece of America" with them when visiting a foreign locale. I want to experience the locals and what the country has to offer! After all, I can eat at McDonalds down the street, and I don't want to eat at one in Rio. :o

Having seen Marc in action, an escort would be crazy to turn down his offer for any amount if he knows him. I have not met one escort that has went away with him that didn't have a marvelous time.

 

After my initial post about the week rate, I have decided on many things. One, I would never do it with an escort I didn't know. Two, I will simply offer an amount to them instead of asking them for their rate. Three, if I do hire them, I will make sure they have a hell of a time.

I'm a pretty well traveled guy and I think there are a few assumptions that need exploration (or more exploration here).

 

1.) It's assumed that someone in the sex industry wants to spend a vacation (albeit a paid, working one) exploring sex work venues in a foreign country. Instead, the escort may want to see something besides than other escorts.

 

2.) It's also assumed that an escort will want to accompany a stranger to a far off place for a week. This isn't Palm Springs for the weekend, this is a place where the first language isn't English, the crime rate is somewhat notorious, the HIV problem has gotten a lot of publicity (this may not faze someone from SF or LA, but it might faze someone from Columbus, Ohio), etc.---all kinds of problems can arise and you're with God knows who; what do you do if something happens and you're stranded? Younger escorts may be more intimidated by being in a "different" place than aware of the dangers. Either way, you may be over-estimating an average escort's sense of "adventure".

 

3.) The role of "buddy" seems ill-defined. Some escorts may want to be the center of attention rather than the "buddy". Or, at the very least, this might sound "odd" and unlike a conventional sightseeing trip.

 

4.) It's assumed that Rio is in the top 10 or whatever desired destinations. I'm not knocking Rio--in fact, I'll be there in a few weeks at the end of 2 week vacation in Brazil---but Rio is not Paris or Rome and if it isn't Carneval or some other obvious time to visit, it may not be attractive to alot of people. OTOH, the worldly escort may want to actually see Brazil rather than the sauna boys. Other than the Brazilian guys, I haven't seen escorts express much interest in Rio on the boards.

 

5.) Finally, you're assuming they think you're serious. An outrageous fee might actually constitute a "first offer" and if you don't come back with another offer or a more credible trip description, they may think you're just a flake.
