I've been to IML many times, but never to Mid-Atlantic Leather. Can anyone compare and contrast the two events?

Is there a host hotel? If so, is the host hotel the kind where visitors can come right up to the room? I find this important in selecting a hotel. Once, in Chicago, I stayed at a Hilton where registered guests were given card keys for the elevator, and visitors needed to have their host come down and get them in the lobby. This obviously was a hassle for me, dressed in full cop uniform or full leather.

If the MAL host hotel blocks guests in this way, can anyone recommend a nearby hotel that does not?

If you'd like to contact me directly, my email is DominantMsl4Hire@yahoo.com.

Thanks.

I don't know much about Mid-Atlantic Leather but I'm getting geared up for next month's Tri-State Modacrylic & Rayon Fest. My father worked in the garment center in NYC for many years and says that the TSMRF's were the HOTTEST weekends he ever had. I still remember him coming home with his suitcase bursting with Qiana swatches. HOT!!! :+

MAL is always held during the Martin Luther King holiday weekend in January here in DC. The host hotel is the Washington Plaza hotel on Thomas Circle. It is conveniently located near two of the bars that have the most activities going on that weekend, The Eagle and The Green Lantern/Tool Shed. The hotel does NOT require guests to have key cards. Also, the hotel is very full of leather goers all weekend and ends up being VERY cruisy, in addition to hosting several special events. While I personally have not attended the events, I hear they are quite interesting.

The weather in DC during January, as Deej points out, is quite difficult to predict. Usually, the temps are in the high 40's/low 50's and there is not any snow. But, ya never know.....

I used to live in an apartment overlooking a street near the Plaza hotel and I would get to see a parade of leather clad guys all weekend long. So, I know the event is very well attended! :9
