Check out the houses with "boys" (actually 18-25) as they are known locally. The Barracks in the heart of the gay area is well-run, clean and secure. Check google but from memory their website is http://www.thebarracks.co.za.

Also, there's an agency I haven't tried - Knights. see http://www.ctknights.co.za.

And last check the classified ads in the evening paper, Cape Argus. These are also online at http://www.iol.co.za - search under "M2M"

Cape Town is a great place, but does have violent crime so take care and have fun.

You should take extra precautions in Cape Town, IMO, since the mass murder of escorts in a house of boys in Cape Town last month. There was a flurry of publicity about it then it died down, I read a detailed article in the NY Times which also had pics of some of the victims, all white and very cute. No news about whether anyone apprehended or the motive, drugs was suggested but not confirmed, hate crime was also alleged. Until it is resolved I would be wary.;(

I read the published account you cited. I find it hard to believe this was just a simple robbery. The victims were tied up and shot execution style, then had their throats slit. This is not a "normal" robbery, IMO. Especially for the relatively small amount of money involved, essentially pocket money of the 9 or 10 victims. Given the crime situation in South Africa these days, I think anyone should think twice about visiting. :-(

I'll be in Cap Staad and Joburg soon enough. I have never had a problem, and don't expect one this time, but then again I don't tend to go to dangerous parts of town when I travel. If I can't find an escort of my preference to do an outcall at ny hotel, I won't bother, but then again that's the norm for me. If I see anything to contradict my expectation, I'll be sure to let you know here. Life is too short and there is to much to see, and too many people to meet to be afraid of travel.

Then don't step out of your front door, because danger lurks EVERYWHERE. Also, don't enter your bathroom. The number of people who die from falls in their own bathrooms is staggeringly high. Much higher than the number of escorts who get massacred in Cape Town bordellos. Possibly if you just stay in bed with the covers pulled over your head you might not have any problems, although I suppose there's always suffocation. . .

Life's too short to live it in fear, locked behind your own front door.

I'm not exactly a shrinking violet BUT when 9 sex workers in a relatively small place like the European section of Cape Town are murdered and the killers are at large, and someone wants to visit this place in search of sex workers....well, all I say is EXERCISE CAUTION. And that's all I said:7

And my initial post said that I would exercise my appropriate usual caution by ordering in, and not going to any clubs. By the way, I have checked out the references given above without success, but I still have the weekend. So far, I have not detected much of an Internet market which suggests to me that the crime factor does not seem to be affecting the local in-house business.

As for the rest, I am wary about white South Africans, particularly those in the Western Cape. Talking about crime or the decline in the value of the Rand seems to be one of the few avenues left for white liberals here to talk about the good old apartheid days without sounding politically incorrect. It's a bit tiresome to listen to, once you see how well they still live, and how little real income/wealth redistribution has ocurred here, particularly in the Western Cape.
