I saw Richie sitting on a bus bench on Santa Monica Blvd and Highland three nights ago. (this is a street hustler area, so Richie seems to have fallen on hard times)He was sitting there smiling and talking to himself, so make you own assumptions! I picked him up in a bar in Weho about a year ago(not as an escort, we just drank together and ended up spending the night together)I have to say he was really nice and fun and seemed normal. I know a couple of guys he did films with (Lucas entertainment) and they said he kinda gets weird at times.

Yeah, really man!!! If I saw someone I knew and liked and had fun with sitting on a bus bench, obviously out of it and talking to himself, I know I would park the car and go over and talk to him and see if he was alright and/or needed anything, and if so, if there was anything I could do to help. At the very least, I would offer him a ride to where he was going, rather than leaving him on a bus bench in that condition. :-(

What kind of help do you think he would want ...besides money? The guy has been in porn and drugs for at least the past 4 years. I am sure what ever quick fix I could come up with at a stoplight at 8:00p.m., on Santa Monica Blvd, would have little impact except on my wallet! You all may be a much more compassionate persons then me, but we all make our choices in life and as they say, we live with them. This wasn't a case of running into a old friend, down on his luck, this was a one night stand a year ago! Frankly, when i see a guy laughing and talking to himself, I am not inclined to pull over and engage in conversation! He is either a little nuts or on drugs, either way, I don't want to be involved! Usually I am on the "south fo the USA thread, very seldom post on this one, but I think you are being more then a little paranoid...What is the "Who shall not be named about"? Secondly, did you every think that maybe the site your referring to, takes info off of this board to post in their posts or mag or what ever it is? You have been to one too many AA meetings. get int he real world. All I and others were suggesting is, if you know someone, even remotely and you feel they might need some help and you have the ability to do so, talk with them a minute, give them 5.00, drive them somewhere or maybe even call one of those numbers you mention ... then do it. Don't just look at them, drive on and then gleefully post your sighting on this board.

 

Also Tomcal your note that he was on drugs is really over the top. How would you know, you wouldn't even stop long enough to find out?

 

On the news last night I watched in horror where someone was killed at a gas station and people went right on pumping gas. It was 20 minutes before anybody tried to help (or enable) the dying person . Sorry guys I find your logic really twisted.

Huey, you are right, I have no idea if he was on drugs. The total time I observed him was less then 30 seconds.

However, standing by while someone is choking on a cheeseburger and not stoping in traffic when you spot someont having a conversation with himself are, I think to most people two totally different things!! He was not in danger of dying from talking and laughing to himself! I think your analogy is a little over the top!

Well, they used to say that it's all right if you're talking to yourself, so long as you're not answering. And that geniuses have a greater tendency to talk to themselves than other people. And that busses are good for you because you don't have to drive and can feel superior about how you're helping the environment.

 

All that and I'm not discounting the handless cell phone option, either.

 

And he was smiling! He wasn't cursing and beating his hands on the bus stop bench. Nor was he singing at the top of his voice or shouting Bible verses at innocent bystanders.

 

I'm sure he probably wouldn't have minded some friendly face stopping to talk to him, maybe even offer him a ride. But don't be surprised, either, if you don't get more than a pleasant conversation out of a person in that situation. I myself have been happily going about my normal day - taking a breather from a party at a park across the street, for one instance - and had to pleasantly talk a would be rescuer out of interfereing with me.

 

No, I'm not absolutely sure that all of this applies in this instance, but to me it looks like a case of "Lighten up, people!"
