Tony Donovan - Featured Escort. Why?

Today (9/16/02) has Tony Donovan's picture on the site as the featured escort of the day. His last review (of 2) was in May, 2000 -- more than two years ago. Both reviews were negative. He has what appears to be a new website (it says it is under construction) and this is listed as a new picture.

 

Question: Why Tony Donovan, given that he has not been reviewed in more than 2 years, and the negativity of those reviews? Has he turned over a new leaf? Has he discovered Viagra? Has he been born again into the world of Escorts Now To Be Considered? Inquiring minds want to know!

I think the title is "Coverboy" not "Featured" escort and as much I think the criteria is more who looks good to Hooboy out of the available choices on that particular day rather than who was the "best" escort experience. Do I like his picture? YES Would I hire him? NO

My guess is that there is often the escort equivalent of a slow news day. So, rather than put up a picture of, say, Dick Cheney, you go with what ya got.

Various email and web addresses for Tony had been inactive for

a while; his tonydonovanxxx.com web site seems to have been

set up just recently. It does seem curious to make someone a

coverboy just to herald a new photo and net presence, though.

 

P.S. If Tony and/or his webmaster are reading: your pages

take a lot longer to load than they need to. You could

shrink the image files to the sizes you want them displayed

at rather than sending huge files.

Let's turn this around. Should a hot looking guy be disqualified as Cover Boy of the Day simply because it heralds the receipt of a new photo and net presence...

 

This is not the first time a selection was based on the receipt of a new photo or of an announcement that someone has returned to the business. Such announcements are posted by HB in the New Reviews all the time. No reason IMO to disqualify them if they are CB material. Tying it to a new review seems arbitrary and overly restrictive.

It's not a big deal, it just got my attention

(as it got the attention of BgMstr4u and Chuck50).

I think two people can easily disagree on this one. I think

it's cool to feature currently reviewed escorts. But that's

just my view (and this is HooBoy's site, not mine).

 

I also want to say that I wish Tony Donovan well. Aaron Lawrence

had said here in the Deli (on Aug 14, 2000) that Tony apparently

"never took to the work" and had stopped escorting. I didn't see

anything on Tony's web site today that said he's escorting again,

but if he is I hope it goes well for him.

Coverboy seems to be based on pic selection, as the name implies. It seems to be without regard to anything else. And ya can't argue with that pic :9 :9 :9 .

 

There have been other Coverboys from among new pics without new reviews in the past and there have also been Coverboys with a new BAD review that day :+ .

 

A little strange, but if you think of it as just for the pic it makes sense.

As already mentioned it's the Coverboy not the Featured escort. Therefore, I'm sure HooBoy basis his selections on an escorts look while trying to keep a variety of guys in the spotlight.

 

Personally, Tony Donovan doesn't do much for me at all He won't be receiving my vote in the September Coveryboy of the month poll }>

My thoughts exactly when I saw the pic--I was aware of his bad reviews and even though it has been stated that the coverboy is only based on HB's reaction to the pics of the day, it seems, OUT OF DEFFERENCE TO ALL THE GREAT AND RELIABLE AND RESPONSIBLE ESCORTS HERE that he would not have been given the honor. What's next--CB of the month? I can foresee a problem where many folks see COVERBOY OF THE DAY (you think he might use that on his web site as an indorsement?) and don't read further--who would dream such an honor could or would be bestowed on a flake? So sure it's a nice pic, but on a board where the escorts have the last word, the good ones lost yesterday

Others have made the points: it is HB choice, it is based on who has a FACE shot (why Rod Hagen and Rick Munroe have never been cover boys), and it is selected from within the reviews of that day, which includes the new pictures and, I guess, as I have never noticed it, the returning to escorting possibilities.

 

It was a very good picture. I do not think I have seen Mr. Donovan look that good in the few videos I have seen of him. I do not think being cover boy is an endoresement for anything other than a good photograph and like straight models on the cover of OUT or GENRE, it is just something that gets you to come to the this site and give HB page views and hits. The advertising fees he can collect from this site, to pay for it to remain to be free to all of us, come from the feature escort ads, the Viagra ads and other sponsorship agreements he may arrange. These are all based on the number of eyeballs he can offer.

 

As for Mr. Donovan's Yahoo fan base, I imagine many of them favor his for his films, not escorting or he would have more and better reviews. Unless he was going to actively campaign to be cover boy of an escort site, as opposed to say "Best Scene in a Film" award, I do not think you should expect him to place any higher than Michael Brandon (or other currently popular adult film actors) have placed in what remains a very unscientific popularity contest.

Good points. But, on the other hand, the reviews are old, the group is only 6 months old and if someone were to mobilize even one-third of his Yahoo fan base into voting... well, let's just say it will be interesting to see if it happens.

 

BTW, I'm not really seriously going pre-judge the September race, when we've only just started the second half!;-)

I penned a message to the Tony Donovan Yahoo users group the other day, and included a link to Tony's reviews and pic on this site. So far, my message has not been posted by the moderator, going on 3-4 days ago now...
