In the US and Canada it is, as far as I know, never officially "allowed" while the dancers are performing on stage.

What you can *actually* do varies from place to place.

At the Gaiety in NY it *really* is absolutely, utterly, *no* contact whatsoever - if you want to give a dancer a tip you leave it on the edge of the stage and the dancer picks it up later.

At Remingtons in Toronto it pretty much depends on the dancer (and the size of the tip ...) and, of course, at Remingtons you can take the guy upstairs afterwards for a private "table dance" in which you will definitely get to "touch" him, although once again exactly *what* you will get to touch will depend on the dancer.

At the clubs in Montreal it's quite rare to see anyone actually give a dancer a tip while they are on stage. but once again table dances are available from the dancers after their show.

I haven't been to the Nob Hill in San Francisco for a very long time but it always used to be normal practice for the dancers there to come down into the audience and work them for tips - and, as usual, what you got depended on the dancer and the size of the tip.

The Nob Hill always made an announcement "It is forbidden by the City and County of San Francisco to touch the genitals or buttocks of the dancers" or something very similar and then EVERYONE proceeded to ignore it. Of course how much one ignored it depended on the dancer, but practically all allowed a discrete grope, and quite a few a lot more. Now that they have rooms in back it seems they are less generous in the theatre to get you in back

I was at the Nob Hill on Friday night and they are no longer making the "no touching" announcement. And, in fact, a $20 tip got you all the touching you could possibly want -- from virtually all the dancers.

BTW, the Nob Hill is definitely on an upswing. The are featuring headliners again and twice-nightly "group dances" with 5-7 guys on stage at the same time. Only trouble with that was that I missed connecting with some of the hottest men because I was already busy with somebody else.

Lots of fun. :+

Glad to hear the headliners are back. :-) Nob Hill is the best strip club I've ever gone to and the dancers have always been very friendly. I started out only touching their legs and chest but a couple of the guys actually guided my hand to their cocks. But, I'm also a good tipper so perhaps I got special treatment. In the back room full contact is permitted behind closed doors.

At the Silverado in Portland it's usually "hands off". But, again, I had a couple of guys intentionally brush their cock against my hand when I tipped them. One guy, after leaving the stage, came over to talk with me. He actually placed my hand inside his g-string while we were talking and he started getting hard.

Nob Hill is probably the best these days, some really hot guys and most let you do as you like. Make-out sessions and "anything goes" are cool in the back. Club 220 (formerly Campus) basically allows almost anything in the theater; there are some dancers who'll suck off patrons one right after another, and most will let you suck them too. Then you could go in back for even more. The tradeoff is that the club is a little darker and seedier (though not that bad compared to porn theaters, etc.) than Nob Hill; it's not in a great area of town, but they do have some really hot friendly dancers (JT, Dima in particular). Remington's in Canada is fun, as are some places in Montreal.

I'm not sure what the official policy of the DC alcohol control board is, but the three clubs in Washington DC that I've been to, including Wet, Secrets, and La Cage, each have different unofficial policies.

I've found Wet to be the most restrictive. The dancers don't seem to encourage any touching at all.

I've found more variability at La Cage. Some of the dancers encourage touch and others do not. I've occasionally had a dancer push my hand away from their leg even though I was well below crotch level. Other dancers are much friendlier. However, I've haven't been encouraged to touch anyone's dick there since the early 90's.

Secrets appears to have the friendliest dancers. Dancers there are very affectionate, and often will hug customers and encourage lots of hand roaming. They will occasionally allow a discrete feel in exchange for a good tip.

The dancers at all three clubs used to be much more friendly before management was forced to take a hard line years ago due to a crackdown by the alcohol control board.

I have only stripped three times in bars and all three times touching was not allowed while on stage. touching for lap dances and private rooms was at my discretion. of course I suck at dancing and failed miserably at stripping so you may want to get another opinion.

I was also at the Nob Theater on Friday, I didn't see any dancer not get a handjob from an audience member. However, I wasn't in the audience for long before I got my 1st private. Saturday, got a little bolder and blew a dancer in the theater before going into the back for a private. Also on Saturday, went to Club 220 where one dancer asked me to stop licking him (he preferred light kisses). LOL

If I read it right, there is a sign in Club 220 that states that mutual masterbation is allowed.

Hey Miketx, who are your favorite Nob and Club220 dancers? Please share your recommends. I like JT at Club220, Josh Weston and Mitch and LT at Nob, personally. Though there's a really cute young surfer type at Nob now who's also hot. Please share!

Unfortunatly, I didn't get to see alot of the guys.

I wanted to see Josh, Mitch, Papi, LT & Jimmy Jax, but missed them. I did get to rub on Jordan, man is he tight, not an ounce of fat on him, I was amazed.

Of the guys I saw, some of my favs were Shad, Shane, Diamond, Mike Nichols & Tommy. Valente was the one that I saw at Club 220 that asked me to stop licking him like a popsicle, so I had him straddle me & grind on my crotch (some 40 year olds should not be allowed off the farm). At Club 220, the 2nd guy didn't show, but the 3rd one Jim was great. Loved his hairy legs. After that I headed back to the Nob Hill.

The official policy is that touching is not allowed. Part of the enforcement includes undercover officers being sent in to observe. However, things have to get pretty blatant to cause a citation. It seems that about every two to three years there is an increase in the enforcement actions. Its my opinion that this tends to coincide with reassignments in the vice squad and its a quick option to make it look like the authorities are doing their job.

Wet got in serious trouble about five years ago. New vice cops and all I guess but there was blatant hustling by the dancers from what I heard. They had their liquor licsense suspended for a while and it takes a lot of violations to cause such an action. Therefore the dancers are a bit more cautious with those they do not know.

>

I have also found the same at La Cage. The changes in ownership and the other issues they have had has caused the place to run down in my opinion. You can't get to the dancers because of the patrons at the bar, when you do, some are not exactly friendly. The place was closed for a while because they "forgot" to renew a Food and Beverage license for five years in a row. I have pretty much given up on the place.

Must agree here wholeheartedly. I have several favorites there who are always nice and very good looking. My faves include Dereck, Luke, and Doug. I also have to say that Secrets has the most variety of body types from muscle guys to twinks.

Another plus is the drag bar Zigfield's next door. It allows you to take a break from the strip bar and even have private chats with the dancers when they are not on their set. Not only that but Ella Fitzgerald is a legened in the drag entertainment community and puts on a very high quality show.

Well, it's certainly not the purview of federal law in the United States, and I doubt it is in Canada. I'm sure it varies from state to state and province to province.

I didn't intend to suggest that it had anything to do with federal law.

I simply observed that "as far as I know" there are no places in either the US or Canada where it is officially "allowed" to touch strippers while they are on stage.

I stand by that statement although I would be happy to be proven wrong ;-)

I think it's OK in California and Florida, maybe Louisiana, too. I seem to remember when I traveled in Canada that the dancers in Ontario couldn't go nude, but you could touch them, whereas in Quebec, they could go nude, but you couldn't touch them...

My experience in Toronto at Remingtons is that the dancers strip dowm to nothing and continue dancing. I do not recall them being touched on stage but had occasion to take one for a private upstairs and there was plenty of touching. In Atlanta at Swinging Richards, guys can go up to the stage and put money in dancers arm band and talk to them. I suppose they make appointments for privates or hotel visits. I did not since I had a gorgeous escort with me for the two days.

I was about to reply that touching the dancers was definitely *not* allowed in San Francsico, but then I realised that I was wrong or, at least, not being sufficiently specific about what "touching" means.

San Francisco explicitly forbids " ... audience menbers from touching the genitals or buttocks of the performers ... ", but since it doesn't explicilty mention other kinds of touching I suppose that they are actually OK.

Of course, as has already been said several times, what is offcially "allowed" and what actually happens are two different things.

Technically I believe that you aren't suppsoed to touch the dancers while they are on stage at Remingtons.

However, in practice nobody (especially the dancers) minds if you touch them while giving them a tip - unlike at the Gaiety in NY where it's strictly "hands off".

If nobody on stage was getting any tips when you were there then it must have been a bad night ...

Michael,

I really think that there may have been a change in San Francisco ordinances (or at least a change in the attitude of the Nob Hill staff).

I have been going to the theater (infrequently) for many years and immediately noticed the absence of the "no touching of the buttocks or genitals" message this time. And, the dancers seemed to actually encourage touching of both areas.

The other big change was the absence of $1 or $5 tips. After a couple of the dancers actually pulled my bill out of their socks to see how big it was, I made sure that the others realized I was handing out $20's.

Interesting.

It's been a long time since I went to either the Nob Hill or whatever the Campus is now called so my information may very well be out of date.

I used to visit the Campus quite often back in the late 80's (87/88 I think ...) and the obligatory mantra of "The City and County of San Francisco forbids ..." was read out before each live performance.

Upstairs in the "main theatre" an announcement was made over the PA system, but for shows that happened downstairs in the so called "arena" the performers were expected to make the announcement for themselves. Of course few of them ever bothered to do so, but I remember one occasion when Jim Bentley (who was obviously slightly drunk, but none the worse for it) prefaced his show with, as best I can remember, the following words:

"The City and County of San Francisco forbids audience members from touching the genitals or buttocks of the performers ... but *I* don't happen to agree with that ... so, as long as you're tipping, you can do whatever you want to ..."

I'm really sorry to hear that the dancers are pulling that trick. I always tip well but I'd sure be pissed if one of the guys felt he had to "verify" the size of my tip. x(

In some clubs I've seen the dancers wear a garter and all tips are slipped there. The dancer could easily "monitor" the tip without being rude. If they are that concerned about the size of the tip, then don't make us hide it in their sock!
