I look at every issue of Frontier Magazine in LA and see the same advertisements issue after issues, month and years at a time. I wonder if there is a large market to warrant such marketing. Those of us who read/and or use the ads know them well by now. Do these people actually make enough money to survive or do they have a day job.

In LA, there are a lot of people who like to do odd jobs while waiting to break into show biz, etc. Some like to wait tables, and some to escort. They might get some work as extras, but get most or half of their income from their other job (i.e. escorting). Depending on the guy's circumstances, he may only need to do two escorting sessions a week if he has a roommate (i.e. outcalls), or 3 or 4 sessions a week if he has his own place.

I have noticed that those with the largest and most expensive ads are usually prompt in calling back, while those with small print (no photo) ads frequently do not call back at all. This suggests to me that the ones with the big adds are pros who make their living at it while the others run the ads and respond when they feel like it and don't have anything else to do.

I've noticed that many of the escorts place multiple ads with different copy and sometimes different photos. They change their names frequently, but use the same copy and photo. I can't help but feel it is to benefit from the infrequent reader, or the business folk who travel to LA on a semi-regular basis. These individuals won't notice the same photo with a new name. There is one muscle escort (Ray Acosta) with a terrible reputation that, it is said, has three different large ads, running simultaneously, with photos and either different names or no names at all.
