For some strange reason my original post under this subject was posted without the message text. Either the cyber fairies are at it again or I'm having another of my all to frequent blond moments.

I meant to say.........

How come today's Gaiety review is actually last week's "Mother's Day" review. Is this a posting error or has NYO snuck up to Montreal for another peek and is using this for filler?

This is serious guys. I can't live a week without this column. Now I'll have to have an extra visit to my shrink to recover :-(

The weekly Gaiety reviews went up around 2:20am New York Time, 5/20.

Try hitting REFRESH.

Send the money you were going to spend on your shrink to the PAYPAL links here and help support the guy who was up at 2am uploading this shit to keep you sane.

;-)

I hate to tell you this - but..........

I have just checked it again after hitting REFRESH and it is still the Mother's Day issue, dated May 6th!

Has anyone else had the same problem or are all of you getting the newest review? Come to think of it - May 6 is TWO weeks old, not last weeks as I had first thought.

It can't be just my computer - can it?

Think I'll hold off on that donation for awhile - if this doesn't get real better, real fast, my life is down the tubes for sure :-(

Sounds like a BCC problem.

Forget the donation. I do not want your money. I'm just happy I am not your escort.

Everything has been fine and on date here. Something is definitely wrong at your end. Try clearing your internet cache.

A BCC problem - now what in the hell is that?

I'm surprised that as the owner of this site, your response was so curt. Perhaps you didn't catch on that my comments were an attempt at some humour. After carefull consideration, I don't really think I will need a shrink after all. What a relief!

By the way - the Gaiety review for 5/20, has just this morning mysteriously appeared on my screen, so I have cancelled my call to Governor Ridge.

With regards to you being happy you're not my escort..... too bad - I have a great butt and I tip real good!

I think Hoo has the rag on...he's been equally unpleasant answering his email. :'(

Now everybody please calm down, there was one minor Error Mothers Day was 13th May but the date was showing wrong for that weeks review - i.e. 6th May, obviously the review was for the 13th but the date was the previous weeks [unchanged]. Hope now everybody has had the 20th review. Nice Job as Usual NYO.

I usually have the same problem. When I click on the Gaiety review Monday morning it invariably takes me to last weeks review. And nothing I seem to do will allow the link to work until later in the day or Tuesday. I can get to the review by taking another route so I know its there. I clear my cache and all the other links work properly. Thought Hooboy was having some blond moments, but if he's not correcting the link after it goes up don't know exactly what is going on although I had/have a similar situation over at MSS. Aren't there some mirror sites or something that may take a little longer to update. I know that some users can access the updates before I can since they discuss the new models in the forum. I go in and they aren't there, although they always appear within 24 hours.

At the risk of sounding supremely stupid - how does one clear one's cache - short of masturbating!!!!!!!!!!

I know the feeling - I have those a lot.

RE: How Come I Cannot See Current Stuff???

My guess is you are using the AOL browser.

DON'T

The AOL browser is as screwed up as AOL/Time Warner.

Use the latest Internet Explorer browser or the new MOZILLA browser. Both are free and both work fine. The Mozilla browser has an option that disallows pop up ads.

FYI: This site is uploaded 365 days a year. The uploads take place typically between midnight and 3am NEW YORK time, no matter if I am in Hong Kong, London, New York or Honolulu.

Sorry if I appear testy, but I am juggling a lot of balls.

PLEASE READ THE M4M FAQ.

Congrats, HooBoy, glad you're getting some. :+ (That reminds me, time to setup another appointment with my favorite guy.)

I'm sure running this site takes a lot more work than most of us realize. Many of us appreciate all you do.

TB, I've also had problems with things not loading properly. It usually turns out to be ISP problems and I don't use AOL. If you're using Internet Explorer, you can clear your cache by clicking on Tools, Internet Options, (General Tab), Delete Files (under the Temporary Internet Files box in the middle of the gray box).

I doubt you're seeing a "mirror site" but you may be falling prey to your ISP's cache server.

MANY ISP's will cache content that has been previously browsed for a certain number of hours. When you request a page, they give you what's in the cache, which allows them to give the appearance of being a really fast ISP. But it's exactly that: an appearance. Works great for fairly static pages, but for a dynamic page (like a discussion board) it can have exactly the opposite effect.

This reply finally makes some sense to me and is probably what is going on. I am on AOL but am using Internet Explorer. The other thing I notice happens here in the message center infrequently. For example, I will occasionally enter a thread that tells me there are 14 meassages and that the last one was entered 15 minutes ago. That last message isn't there, there are only 13. I can go back out and come back in, clear the cache etc. but can't see it. When I come back the next day its there. Never really checked how long it takes to show up. Most of the time the messages appear within minutes of the time they are noted as being posted.

AOL is notorious for cache servers.

Sometimes just clicking "refresh" will go get current content. Sometimes, you have to hold shift while clicking refresh to say GO GET CURRENT CONTENT RIGHT NOW DAMMIT!

And sometimes even that doesn't work.

What DOES work is connecting to the internet through someone other than AOL. ;-)

Cache

The whole world, thankfully, does not relay on IE.

For those of you who have NETSCAPE if you go the PREFERENCES option under the EDIT hold down menu, and select advance, then cache, and then click on the button which says clear cache now AND ALSO close your windows and then reopen your browsers -- which I also suggest doing with IE, you should be fine. I do this almost daily now, before I open Netscape. MAC users such as myself can simply throw away your cache file from your system folder under Netscape or IE, but if you are not familiar with that, DO NOT DO SO. You may inadvertently do something, like throw your bookmarks away, so unless you absolutely know and understand exactly what you are discarding, use the option provided by the browser. I simply do this because it is faster and I do the same things with aspect of America On Line in order to make my experience with AOL run smoother and faster.

Finally, I agree with Deej and Hoo Boy, anyone using AOL's built in browser is missing out on the internet experience and would be better serve getting Netscape or IE, one or both of which are more than likely built into their computers or can be readily obtained for free by download from http://www.microsoft.com or http://www.netscape.com, and can even be order on disk with documentation and reading material.

I would also strongly urge all of you to go to Borders or Barnes and Noble or your local library and either borrow, buy or simply sit down and read IE for Dummies or Netscape for Dummies.

Finally, for Windows user, please, please, please get into the habit of defragging and cleaning your hard drive regularly. I have done this for the Twinks and my friends too many times it is not even funny and it always amazes them how much faster and more responsive even an old low MHZ machine is. For those of you using a computer simply to chat and surf, the computer you have can be made to function far more than merely acceptably for your use.

Good luck!!!
