I'd be curious to hear what feedback you've gotten from clients about what you're asking about. All escorts project images that we may not have total control over, but I imagine this is doubly true in the case of escorts of color. Some Asian escorts play up the "exotic" angle, and I imagine some do a lot of giggling and acting submissive in accordance with clients who like that sort of thing. An NYC escort was recently posting here as AsianConsort, and he seemed to be marketing cooking dinner in conjunction with his services.

 

I've noticed a kid in the BAR (dynamite body -- I think his name is Drew)? marketing himself as a 20 year old Asian skater punk. That's something I would definitely go for. If you're a California boy you could project that sort of image, I think. I used to live out in the Richmond distict when I first moved to SF, and my neighborhood was packed with Asian families, and the boys were HOT -- a lot of them liked to adapt thug or skater looks or were otherwise hip, stylish and projected a tough image. If you're masculine you could probably sell yourself that way if you wanted, which might make sense if, as your reviews say, you're mainly an oral top. A lot has to do with what your actual personality is like and how closely you want your escorting proximity to mirror that.

Being Asian myself, I gotta say I like them. Otherwise, I would think it would be harder for an Asian escort than a "white" escort. You basically serving a "niche" market.

 

Let's face it there aren't any real asian images of beauty for men, there are much more for asian women.

 

The only asian man I can think of is Jackie Chan & Jet Li and again they are "martial arts" stars but I can't think of one mainstream asian male (I can think of at least a dozen asian women).

 

Of course there are exceptions. If you are asian and you have that "white" look (i.e. tall, broad shoulders, muscular, etc.) and you don't look like the stereotypical asian you will do better. Also, if you are mixed you will probably do better.

 

I think this is the case for most "minority" escorts out there.

What's Anime? Many terms used in "our" culture are somewhat alien to me!!!!

I think Asian is too broad a term to use in advertising. Far eastern Asians tend to have smooth flawless skin with little hair and low body fat which I do like. But the term "Asian" also can include Pakistanis and Indians. Many are nice guys, but they have little in common with Far Eastern Asian, and I personally do not find them as attactive as other Asians.

I doubt that Asian gays are any more attracted to white men than white men are attracted to Asian or black or latino men. Some are, some don't care, some aren't. If we sometimes get that impression, it is probably because we are in situations where Asians who like non-Asians are more likely to be found. If an Asian goes to a bar or bathhouse where the customers are mostly white men, it is reasonable to assume that he has a preference for white men. On the other hand, Asians who are looking for Asians aren't as likely to go there.

 

Family and familial obligations are very important in many Asian cultures, and many Asians who are gay live closeted or very discrete lives, even in Thailand, which some perceive as being very accepting of gays. Many gay sons will marry to fulfill part that obligation. But they still seek out and find opportunities to have gay sex. In Thailand, Japan and elsewhere in Asia, there are many dance, clubs, bathhouses and "host" bars that are pretty much Asians for Asians.

 

I am most familiar with Thailand. There light skin is perceived as being preferable to dark skin - if you have dark skin, it gives the impression that you are lower class because you work in the fields or at manual labor. Many Thais work very hard at keeping their skin as light as they can, avoiding the sun and covering up when they are in the sun. Some barboys do know that farang (western) customers like darker skin and do work on their tans, but most Thai do everything they can to avoid a suntan. Chain drug stores like Boots and Watsons are chock full of skin-whitening products. On Thai television most of the actors are light-skinned, and some have a very western look. I am not at all certain that they all have western blood in them, though. Thai people come in all sorts of looks, and I think that some of them just happen to have a western look.

More research is definitely on the agenda, though there are a few other 'subjects' that are ahead of Drew in the queue. But let it never be said that I am not doing my part to keep San Francisco plied with cheap, cute whores.
