Hi Guys!

After doubting this fact for approx. 10 weeks now, I am happy to report that there IS some justice in this world!

Got the good news from my attorney Tuesday afternoon. The SDPD officer in charge of my "investigation" informed him that there will be no charges filed against me or Man To Man. My lawyer will be submitting the final paperwork, and I will be retrieving my belongings later this week.

I want to thank all of the contributors to this Site who helped me thru this with their concern and support.

At this point, I cannot say for certain what my future and the future of M2M in SD will be ... I will keep you posted.

Anyone who might like to contact me, please feel free to E-mail or call.

Thanks!

RE: Congratulations!!

Nice, except that he suffered for 10 weeks under fear of imprisonment, spent God-knows-how-much on lawyers, and they took his computer for all that time (imagine!).

When will they leave victimless crimes alone and focus on the important stuff?:'(

RE: Congratulations!!

After my arrest two years ago wrecked my practice (and I'm still rebuilding from it), I certainly agree with you, Dick. However, "there is a time for everything under Heaven," and now is the time for rejoicing and celebrating with our friend.

Then, perhaps, comes the time for those of us without arrest records to work for the legalization of the profession?

It is no secret that I believe that this site will in the long run prove to have been influential in that fight. And that we, or our next decendents, will see our victory on that matter.

When they legalize prostitution. Until then, pandering and prostitution are illegal (except in parts of Nevada). Bilbo has it right. Instead of wasting your time yelling at the police who, for whatever the reason, are enforcing the laws, do what you think you can to change the laws. Prostitution has been illegal since the days of Adam and Eve and I know of no organization that is working to change that. Politicians love to "bust" prostitutes around election time in order to get "votes" from their conservative constituents . I strongly suspect that this was the case in San Diego...pressure was put on the police by someone. Hooboy (I think) wrote a stinging note on this very issue in today's "News". The police do NOT routinely bust prostitutes or escort agencies. They do so when pressure is applied to them by SOMEONE IN AUTHORITY.Escorts and escort agencies knowingly engage in illegal activities and, as such, decide to chance it. Personlly, I too chance it when I decide to engage an escort...knowing that my name is on somebody's list and that I could be busted. It's a decision we all make.

While I agree with your basic idea, I don’t think this is correct. Brothels have been an accepted part of most cultures until fairly recently.

Although this is a distinct possibility, I don’t know how familiar you are with San Diego. When push comes to shove, this is still a very conservative town. The visibility of the ManToMan site and the freewheeling discussion and reviews on this board, would be all the justification that SDPD would need to crack down. It’s unfortunate, but ManToMan was probably a victim of its own success.

I agree with Kenny. The police are doing their job. We know what goes on there is illegal, we know when we pay an escort for sex it's illegal. We should focus on legalizing it.... but I don't hold anything against the police for doing their jobs. Maybe it's homophobia at the route of their targetting the agency.... who knows.... and I'm glad the agency is okay.... but give me a break--we're not fooling anyone by saying that it's not illegal (as in the "news" section of this website). Maybe they can't prove it, but we all know the truth. That's part of the risk we take, like it or not. It would be great, however, if prostitution could be legalized or regulated - but no ill feelings to the cops from me.

My initial reaction was that of what Hooboy wrote the other night. Though after reading your remarks above I must agree with you 100%. You really expressed the reality very well. It's illegal and this agency as well as all others in the States are taking a huge chance. One cannot blame the police for doing their job!

Cheers! Ritchie

RE: Congratulations!!

When I was arrested two or so years ago here in Houston, I asked my lawyer who had made the complaint against me which was cited in the court records as the reason for the police action. He told me that the police did not list who complained and that they routinely lie, making up complaints where there are none. That was hardly the only lie that they told in this affair. I was entrapped. I can see some justification for those police protecting the public's safety lying occaisionally. However, for those who are policing the public's moral behavior to lie seems highly questionable unless we have started thinking of lying as moral and honorable. If they can enforce these laws without lying, more power to them. The more they do, the less people like ourselves are going to take these laws lying down (so to speak).

Whether we honor those policemen and women who enforce these laws or not, I agree that it is their job and that the only way to legitimately keep them from doing it is to change the law.
