DevonSF, I truly ADORE your posts! Rothko! How many times has he been mentioned on a message center about ho's? Not nearly enough, I'm sure. Personally, other than the fading beauty part, I'm not sure that a Rothko painting is an appropriate analogy for an escort. Sure many escorts are just as monochromatic, but few posess the elegant subtleties. Actually, I thought the line about $150 or $175 being chicken feed was rather appropriate. Devon, I've not met you (yet) but I certainly believe that you are one of those escorts whose asking price is most likely commensurate with the services rendered. Your price is fair, because you're obviously treating your business as a business, and realize that you won't be in business long if your product is not up to par. However, I also think you're championing a whole lot of guys who're likely unworthy of your efforts. I don't really believe that a majority of escorts who charge premium prices do so because they think they provide superior service to their clients.

As for your 8 reasons justifying your pricing (which, by the way, I am going to needlepoint onto a throw for you to cover your bed with), mostly i think they're legit. Although you seem to think that a lot of the time and expenses you put into your preparation are not shared by the client. I too, when preparing to receive an escort, clean house, put out clean sheets, "gussy" myself up. I also frequently pay their transportation, buy libations, buy new candles, sacrifice some virgins...you know, it does all add up. Sometimes I'm just too tired and bloody to actually DO anything when the escort gets here!

And also, you wrote something about the previous poster beig able to hire two $150/hour escorts a month for what you have to pay for your insurance. Well, look at it this way, you'd only have to work TWO hours to cover your insurance premiums... guess how many I have to work to cover mine. Indeed, $150 is not chicken feed. It's a very, very decent hourly wage, by any standard.

There is a Ninth reason I thought of that you could suggest to legitimize an escort's pricing. Simply, not everyone can do it. Not every guy out there has the beauty, the body, the equipment, or the stamina to be an escort. God knows I don't! I mean, I'm a nice enough lookin' guy, but noone's gonna pay money to be seen in public with me. And frankly Devon, your twins are already bigger than Trixie's only child! Being a good escort is a skilled profession(relying SOMEWHAT on the whims of nature), kind of like being a good athlete (...Oh, should anyone care to have an Escort Olympics, I will happily be a judge!). Those who are good at what they do are usually worth the price. It's just that finding those escorts can be a rather horrifyingly expensive weeding out process. It's not like you can return the merchandise if it doesn't suit you.

I don't think it could be said better, or more succinctly than that. If we start complaining about the price of such luxuries, what we might really be saying is: "we're addicted and we don't know how to be happy and content without this."

Wrong, Trix -- reread the needlepoint. I'd only have to spend two hours WITH A CLIENT to cover my insurance premiums. But I spend a lot of time working on the business in addition to the time actually spent in the appointments themselves.

Oh, well, yeah, there's that too. :7 There is also the extreme perishability of most escorts' shelf lives. That creates an imperative to charge what the market will bear.

Well now, there's a point! Very true indeed.

 

I've been pretty lucky with the >15 escorts I've hired in the past 2 years since my first, but I'd have to admit I probably dropped a little over $1,000.00 (in total) in that time on some escorts and later felt some buyer's remorse. They weren't bad - just not worth what they charged in my mind (compared to similarly priced very good escorts). This, despite the glowing reviews they received. I did learn something from each one, however, so it wasn't for naught. Live and learn.
