Does anyone do well on gay.com? It seems to me that if you go in all the time, it becomes a waste of time. However, if you stay off for a few weeks or even months, you can find a client. I have also notcied that on the Pacific Floor, I have never gotten a client from the Mature Room. Another thing I notice is that people don't seem to know what the going rate is as compared to clientele gleamed from trolling AOL.

hummm,

In that I am not an escort, and it would not be appropiate in my day professional life, I don't use gay.com to find clients.

However, if I am trolling for an escort I don't think most on-line (chat rooms) services are a good place to look. This site, print ads, or web sites seem to be better.

Ha! The gay.com scene is pretty strange, from my experiences and perspective. I've chatted with a couple of guys on gay.com who wanted to make some bucks. But, they found out I was >30 years of age and lost all interest. One guy told me was 19, wanted someone 18-21 and was expecting to get paid $250. to $500. for the experience.

A while back, gay.com was pretty cool in terms of meeting people. I've met a few people on gay.com with whom I've had sex and a couple of others I've formed friendships with. This was all like six months to a year ago. Lately, not so much. Pretty much a waste of time. Especially for escorts, either hiring or looking for clients, it appears to me.

Of course, your mileage may vary. And probably will, depending on geography.

Gay.com is usally a pretty shady place, even for off the clock hanging out. I tried using it once for clients, but found out that the guys on there are usually bigger headcases than the AOLsters (present company excepted.) Also, gay.com has room monitors that will come in once in a while and bump you out, a la AOL TOS militia.

This site generates maybe 80% of my business and the other 20% comes from americanmale.net and other sites along those lines. I'm doing well with just online advertising and have decided not to go with print.

as with Bloussant the nonsurgical all natural breast enhancing herbal supplement, your results may vary.

I pretty much agree with all the points made so far about gay.com's decline, and fortunately I don't have to rely on it these days. When I was starting out, though, it helped a lot in meeting clients.

I still try to remember to log in every now and then because it can be good for filling a cancellation -- usually people you meet online are looking for something 'right now' so if you are too, that can work. Especially since chances are the people logged in are just as fed up 'trolling' for free sex. Actually, come to think of it, the people I've met on gay.com when I was just horny and looking for some off duty action tended to be sketchier as a group than the clients I met off there.

If you have a link to your website, you'll probably see a nice spike in hits to your site while you're logged in. And if you have a link to your HooBoy reviews on your site, that's that many more people you're introducing to the whole concept of escort reviews, so you're doing your bit to create a more educated clientele base. I've had clients tell me they saw me on gay.com, went to my site, bookmarked it and visited a few times, read the reviews, and then decided to go ahead and email or call me. A little time spent online can plant seeds you might not realize you're planting at the time.

Oh, and change your online pic frequently. Then it's like you're a brand new escort! :+

I have had fairly good success for getting a escort or wannabe escort. I average about 1 hookup a month. I simply type my name as $needescort$ and when I do, I get some pretty good responses. The last one I had was a asian and he could bottom like no tomorrow. And, it only cost me $80.00 bucks. Not bad for about 30 minutes online. I usally am in the Maryland room........

see ya there! }>

...which brings us back to reasons for escorts NOT to bother with gay.com... (no offense, RG)

I am not too familiar with the pricing, but that is cheap, too cheap. Seems like a street walker type rate.

Maybe he bottomed a lot, but was he good-looking, clean, drug-free? Spoke complete phrases? All limbs?

I am a wage-earning guy, and clip coupons for the grocery store, but given choice of escort for $80 or $150 I would automatically go for the $150. Like a $20 hotel room, something is wrong.

Gay Dot Hypocrisy

Gay.com has 'monitors' to blindly enforce poiicy, and that's their right. Their official line in blocking escorts is that 'Gay.com does not condone any commercial or illegal advertising through personal accounts.' Fine. Is there a reason, then, why potential clients are permitted to remain in chat (ie. $needescort$) ? Can escorting somehow be more illegal than the various other profiles that are prolific: bestiality (k9), incest (fam), snuff ('user name'=0)?

If it's an image problem, I'd guess the average gay or lesbian isn't very keen on scat, watersports, bloodsport, or any other extreme kink easily found EVERY NIGHT on the service. Is it the commerciality of escorting? Would the site even exist if it weren't for the deluge of themed t-shirts, caps, X-RATED videos and websites that pay a percentage to the originator per purchase (or mouseclick)? They even found it neccesary to remove the Bareback rooms, which at least had the advantage of keeping gay men more honest about their HIV status. Are escorts, or just guys-trying-to-pay-the-rent, psychically more damaging and socially reprehensible than these other groups to the average queer net surfer? Is making yourself sanely and safely (not to mention timely) available to those who are looking for companionship so incredibly detrimental to the gay community that it must be actively eradicated?

Until they quit identifying fascism with the reality of my orientation, they won't get a cent of these gay (dot) dollars.

P.S. Asking these same questions in the Monitors room under a completely innocuous screename got me booted in about 20 seconds sans reply.
