What Carribean locations offer the best escort choices?

Hey guys,

 

I want to go on a vacation in the sun this winter. It seems to me that the traditional holiday locations don't offer much in the way of escort choices. Do you have any recommendations (i.e. Nassau or some other place) where the boys are and how we can reach them? Thanks a lot!

you might use the search function and check out the Dominican Republic (click on archived threads as they were posted a while ago).

 

The Dominican Republic is amazingly cheap and if you like Dominican men, who range from very black looking to some pretty exotic latino types, you can get some real bargains.

I'm not sure what you mean by traditional holiday locations. I'm quite familiar with the Caribbean, having visited about 15 different Caribbean islands. Most Caribbean islands are quite conservative, especially those whose official language is English. As Jizz pointed out, escorts are readily available in the Dominican Republic, especially if you like darker-complectioned men. When I was walking down the street in Puerto Plata, guys would go up to me and ask "Want to meet some hot Dominican girls?", then, when I said no, immediately asked "How about some hot Dominican guys?"

The only two Caribbean islands (excluding Cancun) where there are significant gay scenes are Puerto Rico and French Saint Martin (especially in Marigot). My guess is that there are probably escorts available in San Juan. I doubt it would be the case for Saint Martin. The gay lifestyle is fairly well accepted in the Dutch islands, but the gay scene is poorly defined, and I don't think you'll find many escorts there (but you can meet guys in Aruba and Curacao). Saba is actually very gay, but mostly in the sense that it's an island that older long-standing American, Canadian, and European gay and lesbian couples go to retire.

Strictly speaking, Cancun island is in the Caribbean, and there are definitely a number of escorts working out of there, both on the internet and in the gay bars (strictly, speaking, though, the bars are on the mainland, although the hotels are generally on the island).

On the other hand, Nassau is not/the Bahamas are not in the Caribbean. These islands are quite conservative, and I don't think you'll have good luck finding escorts there.

So... I don't know what you mean by "traditional holiday locations," but if you mean Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or Honolulu, you'll definitely have better luck finding escorts there than in the Caribbean (again, except the DR, Cancun, and maybe San Juan). I'll personally vouch for Sean Storm in Fort Lauderdale. He's a real sweetheart!

I agree with Traveler 100%. Miami/Ft. Lauderdale is fabulous for escorts and compared to New York and L.A. the rates are cheap. Make a stop over in Miami before your trip and pick up a guy you like and maybe take him along for the trip.:7

I used to enjoy mid-winter breaks in San Juan. There were many gay clubs, gay hotels from time to time, and gay sections of the beach. It's an urban area, but Old San Juan is quite beautiful and you can walk around to the clubs, unfortunately you then need transport out to the beaches. It's almost too easy to catch the eye of an available man, and you have to be careful, but not any more than you would in Miami. Other parts of Puerto Rico are probably more what you might imagaine as "carribean", but as I usually travel alone, I was often uncomfortable being the only blue eyed blonde in the area. The Dominican Republic has some spectacular beaches, and again you'd be amazed at how often you will be approached, but I'm uncomforable being alone there. Bermuda is my all time favorite place to vacation, great hotels and beaches, easy to get around, fantastic shopping, fun "pubs", and extremely secure. St. Martin and Barbados are stairsteps to heaven, but no place for a single guy. These days I go to Puerta Vallerta or the old standy of Acapulco, great hotels, sun and beaches, gay friendly communities, lots of clubs, and lots of men!!! One of these days I intend to try one of the gay weeks at a Club Med or at one of the various spinoffs, maybe an RSVP type cruise, but have avoided them so far, since I like to keep to my own timetable of events, etc.

As the crocodile hunter would say... "Crikey!" Bermuda is a lot closer to Portland, Maine than it is to the Caribbean Sea! If you got there in the winter, you'd better bring a sweater and not count on laying out on the beach!

I have had very good luck in San Juan, both by meeting people outdoors or at a bar. For safetys sake I never carry more than a few dollars and leave most of my credit cards and cash locked up in the hotel safe. I usually stay in a nice beach hotel so feel more secure in bringing guys back.

 

St Thomas very pretty too, but bring along your own boy as its pretty much straight heaven there. I agree with prior posters who suggest a south Florida stay as that combines warm climates with lots of escorts at good rates.

And I guess you've never heard of READING. According to Fodor's World Weather Guide, the average maximum temperature in Bermuda for both February and March is 68. Hardly weather for getting a tan at the beach. (the average low for both of these months is 57). Maybe you should do some research next time before you jump in with smart-alec comments.
