I'll be dropping both Rick and Derek at the airport tomorrow morning heading back to NYC. I had a really great time with both of them and hope that they too enjoyed their stay here in SF.

I know that they miss this board and I have been updating them as to what is happening here. Rick should be back posting again sometime tomorrow evening.

BTW: To Matt, Rick said he misses you too. :)

RE: Rick and Derek heading

Hey, it's great to be back. I know I could have gone to a kinko's & posted but it was kind of nice to take a break for a while...I did miss this addiction, tho.

LA: Hated it. The land of big (highlighted) hair and bad food. Loved all of the guys we met there, tho...especially the one who flew us out. That made up for the food poisoning we got that ruined most of our trip!

SF: Loved it. Will definitely be going back. Those trolleys are so darn cute...and so is the fact that the men of the Castro are stuck in the 80's...the time of tight, faded, bulge-displaying 501's, flannel shirts and motorcycle jackets. And rainbow flags. Is it retro or has time stood still there? For whatever reason, we dug it. And met more great guys...especially Gentle Dude, and a few other guys with whom we really established a great rapport (they know who they are). We'd even consider moving there (and native New Yorkers don't do that often).

We will definitely be doing more of this traveling/touring thing, now that we've gotten off our lazy bubble butts and seen it's not so hard to do (like I said, New Yorkers tend to like to stay here).

Any suggestions for our next trip? We want to do our usual Miami thing next month...maybe New Orleans in March...back to SF in April...after that, we're (spread) open to suggestion!

Sigh...they know who they aren't, too... :'( Welcome back, Rick. It'll be good to see you now that you're finally out of town! :+

Now's the time to get a bargain on an apartment in SF. Property management people were falling all over themselves to help me (I just moved), which is SO different from the situation over the last few years. You can get something cheap now and then ride rent control when the economy picks back up. Of course, leaving a rent controlled apartment in New York...that's gotta be tough.
