Given the recent allegations and denials of censorship on this list, I would appreciate an explanation for why the initial travel notice posted by Ethan (DCescortboy) disappeared yesterday. I saw it and at least two people had responded to it before it became etherware.

 

I have had a couple of threads pulled and Hoo has always sent me polite note explaining why. Hoo denies having pulled any threads this time, which tends to narrow the list of suspects. If it was a mistake, would someone kindly fess up to it? If it was a technical problem, could we know what it was? If there was a reason for Ethan's thread being pulled, would someone be so kind as to offer an explanation before we start getting bombarded with more tiresome allegations of censorship, vendettas and personal agendas?

I was one of the people who responded to that thread. The response was of no importance -- simply welcoming DCeBoy back. But I am surprised to see the thread gone, since it didn't seem to violate any rules at all.

 

The title wasn't formatted like most others in that forum, but that doesn't seem sufficient reason to yank a thread, especially for someone who has just come back to M4M.

According to my understanding it was a violation of the 'rules' -- not the general rules for posting on the site, but the format that Hoo has requested time and again that escorts use: city/dates only in the title, ID to be displayed in the author column. Helps the maintenance of the list.

Perhaps, but no thread has ever been yanked before because of "non-standard" format. Hoo just posts a "please conform" notice.

I, too, saw the post and have no explanation of why it disappeared. For the record, I have **never** deleted a thread on this board.

Also for the record, please note that the "Escorts Travel" forum has no volunteer moderators. Hoo and Daddy are the only ones that can moderate that conference.

 

In order to avoid clutter, Hoo routinely deletes posts that have expired -- that is the travel dates have passed. I suspect that's why he's insistent that the travel dates appear in the thread title.

I repeat what Losgatan said: moderators do not have anything to do with the Escort Travel section. That's HooBoy and Daddy's gig. All we can do is read what is posted.

 

You can look at the forum list to verify this for yourself, should you wish to expend the effort.

 

If you want to take the moderators to task, please at least have the courtesy to do so over something we're involved in.

i'm not gonna go stamping my foot & crying "anti-Semite" but, in defense of the thread that is no more, it WAS heartfelt, and something that i think many people (even people who aren't exactly fans) might have wanted to read.

i have no copy of it. if you can retrieve it, it would be extra-sweet to put it back, or if the subject line offends you so much, place it in one of the other fora.

I am not taking anyone to task. I would just like an explanation. So far, unless someone is mistaken or we have a thread-eating Phantom of the Message Centre, it would seem that Daddy-in-Training is the only remaining suspect, and he doesn't have a motive. So we still have a mystery on our hands. ;-)

I delete threads on a daily basis in the ESCORT TRAVELS section if the travel dates expire or if the heading does not conform to the format simply to keep it current. I always have, from the beginning. You'll notice there is no archive and all the dates are mostly current. It is more like a classfieds section and certainly not designed to be a discussion section. I think it even says posts will be deleted.

 

My statement about not deleting threads was in reference to the major discussion areas. I apologize for the misunderstanding.

according to esc-tracker, who tracks these things ya know, you don't. he says that you simply post a "please conform" notice.

 

uhhh... esc-tracker, i told ya so! he just doesn't like me :-) i knew the honeymoon wouldn't last. :-)

 

take care guys... i'm not about to get into a big crapping-match (although i'm told craig would pay top dollar for that!) over fairness, personal agendas, or vendettas. if my opinions on those subjects aren't clear yet, they never will be.

 

the OH-SO-HORRIDLY OFFENDING post, which DID incidentally have a travel notice in it, was genuine & heartfelt. without betraying bias, i'd genuinely say that it was something folks should have had the opportunity to read--particularly some of the people to whom i'd been less-than-warm. it seems, however, that the belle of her own ball doesn't agree. i'll survive & you'll all somehow find the strength to muddle on. those of you who read the post, great. it gave a little update on me (whether you wanted it or not) and a little insight (again, desired or not).
