Some escorts have a notice on their website that states that you are only paying for the time together. Anything else that happens is between consenting adults. Is this just a way to evade any "legal" complications? What if the escort arrives and just sits, talks, but refuses to do anything else? Do you pay this guy? It happened once to me, and the escort threatened me if I did not pay. Has this happened to anyone else?

All of my internet-literate escorts use that phrase in their advertising. I'm sure it is for legal purposes. ;)

I have never yet had anyone that failed to deliver once they showed up. (I have had a couple of "no shows" but that's another problem.) Have never had an escort threaten me. (But I'm big, fat, and ugly and I think escorts are more afraid of me because I look very intimidating.) :+

I personally state this for legal reasons. Most people know that I am goin to get busy but I could see how some might take advantage of the situation. In my opinion if an escort just sits on his ass and thats it, send him politely home. We all know what the reason is for work so somebody taking advantage of it is wrong. Of course there have been times that people have hired me just to hang out and as long as that is communicated between each other thats cool. I have several like that this week that just want to gamble and have a good time. My 2 cents not worth much, but its still 2 cents...:)

The "Paying for our Time Together" line means nothing when it comes to police stings and offers ZERO legal protection of any sort, if anything it screams just the opposite. I understand why some guys do it, but it's a myth that it protects you in any way. You might as well be saying you're just being paid to read the Bible for an hour.

Does anybody really think that using that line will throw the cops off, "Oh, he's not a prostitute, he's just selling his time?" DUH?

But, there are the scammers who will use that to their advantage and

try to ripoff some poor unsuspecting client.

Unless you're saying something explicit and incriminating on your website, e-mail or telephone conversation, which could

be used against you as additional evidence, there's really nothing to worry about. Law enforcement must still set you up in person.

Jeff is right in that thinking that phrase will protect you from the law is a myth. Another myth is that if you ask someone if they are a cop and they are, that they are required to say yes. Both myths are wrong and if that's all an escort is depending on, they will be in jail if there is a sting. A successful sting requires evidence, usually on tape with a wired vice cop, or in IMs or emails, showing that the escort has promised sexual services during their time together, whether included in the price or extra. If a "client" tells an escort that he is a bottom and wants to be fucked, and the escort agrees and proceeds with the appointment, that is grounds for arrest.

There are also good reasons never to accept payment in advance. Assuming the escort was smart enough never to be specific in what they offer, the police will then settle for trying to ticket you for something like a zoning violation (a $600 fine here). By not accepting payment they can't ticket the escort, and they won't go through with the appointment and will find a reason to leave. If they are insistent about paying up front, send them packing asap.

Hey Jeff,

These things happen! Anyone heard of "Bible Study in the Missionary Position"?

Possible clients: Missionaries, pastors, and priests!

Now of course if anyone prefers the "bible study in the sit down position", I'm sure there are some young and cute mormom missionaries who would be more than happy to do so --- and it's FREE!

I am dating an ex cop. It is legal to charge for escorting, not legal to charge for sex, which is why most say that. I noticed one reply said that if they ask you if your a bottom, or something to that affect, they "got ya". Yes, they know what you are doing, but it is entrapment, and not legal, and will be thrown out of court (not that I am speaking from experience, of course :*) ). Being an escort is a legitimate profession, the sex part is the only illegal part, thus, "between consenting adults". The only bad part about that, is they can get you for "solicitation of crimes against nature". Doesn't that sound pleasant. But, as an "escort", I require the client to touch me first. If they do, and I respond, and they are a member of the law enforcement community, it is again entrapment...hope this helps :)
