Hey there guys. Im really extremely new to this whole message board thing so bare with me please. First of all, Im Nathan,, listed under the San Diego reviews. I have had alot of questions and comments about pics. Im a very discrete person about this and I dont wanna show too much. The pics I have been using are professionally done. And of course my hair is bleached and they're in black and white. Well I have had some people tell me that I look like I have attitude in them. Also I have had some people tell me that they look touched up. Really all Im trying to do is put the best quality pic out there. I just recently asked hooboy to change the pic. Please look at it and tell me what you think. Maybe I need to change photographers or maybe Im just not wearing the right clothes.. You be the judge...... Let me know.It would be a big, huge, humongous, enormous help.;)

different clients will like different pictures. the twink lovers will want one that makes you look as young as possible; muscle lovers will want to see a six pack; some people will want someone that looks like they can be seen in public without attracting too much attention; some will like the "boy next door look"; etc. no one picture will make everyone happy.

you can put an assortment of pictures on your site so people can see the different "roles" you can play. some people will only hire escorts that show a face shot and others will want a dick/ass shot. it really comes down to the type of clients you want to attract. you can experiment around and see what works best. some escorts get a picture or two that seem to work and then leave it for years; i know of some pictures 5 to 10 years old!!!!

good luck.

To my eye, the photograph itself is very attractive. It's obviously professional, posed, carefully lighted: a kind of portrait. What's it a portrait of? It looks like the portrait of a teenage boy, pre-college age, who wants to emphasize his youth, vulnerability, and freshness by bleaching his hair and wearing a version of business clothes (white shirt and suit jacket) that are so oversized that they look as though they might belong to his dad.

I like the picture very much as a proprait. But I myself would never consider hiring that escort because I don't want to have sex with children. To me, in other words, the picture sends a mixed message, one of sexual availalbility coupled with borderline illegality.

So I think it depends on how you want to come across, and what kind of clients you want. If you want to attract a clientele that loves twinks, maybe you could show a little more chest and a little less oversize man's coat; if you want to attract a broader-based clientele, you'll simply have to look older, and less self-consciously "cute."

I hope this helps. You certainly are a goodlooking guy, regardless of the way the present youself!

FWIW, here are my thoughts: I think that the "attitude" comments are probably related to your facial expression, not your clothes. Get some shots taken where you are smiling. I think the shadows on your face also contribute to the sense that you could be stand-offish. If you want to remain more anonymous, perhaps showing more of your body and not your face (or at least not above your nose) would be more appealing. Then, if you choose, you could send a clearer face shot to prospective clients when it is clear that they are truly interested in you.

Since you are doing this to make money, you might want to consider the market you're in: What "type" is most in demand in your area and what "type" has the fewest well-regarded escorts. Then tailor your pictures to meet that niche. (Provided, of course, you're able to live up to it.)

I generally assume that a guy who doesn't have even a shirtless pic doesn't have a very good body, but that a guy with faceless shots is probably just discreet. (As opposed to butt ugly.)

Hope that helps.

Wow,, all of ya'll had very good advice,, I am majorly flabergasted at the feedback I got and am glad I tried this message board thing. I sent in the new pic to hooboy yesterday so it should be up and running soon. Im not smiling so to speak in it,, but its a much more relaxed and realistic pic. The only problem I have is that I keep having to bleach my hair LOL:P Right now my hair is light brown,, and Ill be adding some highlights to it. But I assure all of ya'll that I am very down to earth and easy to get along with,,, well with business anyway,, other than that I guess I can be a pretty big pain in the pituttie with my bf LOL.. Then again he deserves it most of the time. SORRY BABE if your reading this LOL. I love to have fun, sometimes I think my sense of humor is a bit much to graspe for some. But then again I like to think I have some kinda intellect. I did go to college,, but oh yeah,,, so did Bush. No offense to the die hard republicans out there. No matter...... Keep writting ,, this stuff is kinda fun,, gives me something to look forward to reading. Chat witcha later,

Nate

>I saw that same pic two and a half years ago.

Thanks for that most unwanted comment. First of all, I don't have any pics that are two and a half years old and I just got a new one in that is only 1 month old. So get the facts before you shoot your mouth off. Other than sdmuscl4hire I appreciate everybody's comments and advice. Anyone know of a good photographer in San Diego? Oh by the way,,,,, if I ever get hungry for breast milk,, Ill look you up sdmuscle4hire :)

Producing decent online pictures confuses me also. Prospective clients usually have the same range of comments:

"Hot pics!!"

"Where are the X shots?"

"Why isn't your face showing?"

"Why no action shots?"

"You look too muscular." (this cracks me up, ya right)

"It looks ok, but not professional quality"...etc.

If ones pictures don't look as good as you do in person, the "much better than your pics" cliche comes out. But then I've noticed escorts who obviously spend time, energy, and money into getting very aesthetically pleasing professional quality photos, only to read in the reviews, "He wasn't quite as "X" (ripped, handsome, tall, hung, whatever) as his pics led me to believe."

Does a middle ground exist? Or is doing the best you can with what you've got not how it works?

What i expect from photos ? As a newbee (newbie) i like sdmuscl4hire (Michael Johnson) site. Why ? a lot of large pictures (even if you have to save them to disk to see them in full size (url errors)). I want a body photo at least but better have a gallery page.

Find your target group. See what your client wants most from you and deside about what pictures you need to post. (reread bigjoey's post).

Also be carefull about some words. Your comments here at user profiles you say:

"My boyfriend is also an..."

That "boyfriend" turns me down... try something like:

"My best friend is also...".

Take that as an example what to avoid at your site.

Nathan,

Here are some excerpts from an email I wrote to my favorite escort when he asked me to comment on the design of a new site. Maybe some of it will be helpful to you.

"Recent discussions on the M4M message board have focussed on the fact that there two basic types of clients. Some, mostly younger ones, tend to be most interested in the escort's physical attributes and don't care much about the illusion of "friendship" during a session. Other, mostly older ones (and that certainly includes me), hire primarily for companionship and care as much about the escort's personality as about "what's under the hood."

"If you agree with this, and want to appeal to both types of clients, let me suggest how it might impact the design of your website.

"My many years in marketing and advertising have taught me that photos should be used to make very specific points. If I were in your shoes, I'd start by listing those physical and personality characteristics you think would be most appealing to potential clients. The physical part is easy: general appearance, grooming, cock size, etc. The personality part is much more illusive: intelligence, wit, sense of humor, grace, genuine concern that the client will have a good time, etc.

"Next, I'd try to find photos that illustrate all of these characteristics. Again, the physical part is easy -- hot, revealing body shots. But don't forget the personality part: To illustrate intelligence, you might include a flattering shot of you playing chess or reading a book. For humor, a photo of you doing something silly with a dog. I think you get the idea.

"Although your old website wasn't intentionally designed this way, the photos it contained revealed a great deal about your personality and were, for me at least, a real turn-on."

Pics are marketing pure and simple.

There is a local escort in Vancouver whom I keep telling to get new pix done. (they are brutal, I mean he's a hot hot looking guy, but his pix don't show that) He keeps saying the pix don't mean anything, they just show the client what your body looks like... which is true, but if the first image they see is not flattering, why would they pursue it?

Also depending on who you are marketing too, that should affect the pictures you use. IE, if you are only interested in bottoming... use a lot of great butt shots... if you are a top, show lot's of great shots of your big fat monster.

I've usually chosen to use pics that are a little more discreet, IE no close up cock shots that fill the screen, no shots of my hole,,, no offense to anyone that does these, I just like to keep some things a little more private: )

Most of the pix I use are artistic in nature, and I think they attract a specific type of clientel, and that is what was intended.

Now before anyone starts in on me, I know what types of people I will click with, and they are typically the types that are intrigued by the pictures I've presented.

If I was looking for hourly appointments, where it's quick sex, I would probably use different pictures. But I prefer longer sessions that aren't all about sex. Yeah sex is important, but it's not the only thing I offer.

Matt(yup he admits to marketting....)
