As for the timing of the poll for Escort of 2001...

 

the year still has two months to run and I believe those two months still afford the opportunity for many clients 'to sample the wares' and influence individual preferences. Currently, I plan to conduct polling in late December through mid January.

 

A two phase process with preliminary and run-off polls is under consideration, this year. It depends partially on the performance of the polling software currently under evaluation. THe overriding concern is validity of the polling process. The poll last year was carried out in full view of all and I plan the same for the first or run-off poll. If the decision is made not to use the polling capability then the single poll will be as last year.

 

Suggestions and opinions on this two step process and other ideas are welcome. I have had few offered just after the close of the poll of 2000.

 

One suggestion addresses the title of the poll replacing the terminology of 'Best' or 'Top' Escort with 'Favorite Escort' .

 

I am also leaning toward 'retiring' past winners from the current competition possibly establishing a 'HALL OF FAME' for recognition of the past winners. The motivations are: 1) to spread the spotlight around a little just in case we have one or two guys who cling to the top forever :-) and the opposite consideration that it is impossible to remain 'King of the Mountain' forever and it's better 'to go out on top' . Just thoughts so far.

Pending a final decision regarding retirement of past title holders, any escort who was working in the current year would be eligible whether retired or not.

 

Also, the guidelines will limit the first round polling only to those escorts actuallly seen by the client. The idea is to cast your vote on knowledge not speculation or hearsay. If there is a run-off poll then obviously this requirement will be waived for the run-off field. The down side is that this transforms the poll from experience based to more of a popularity poll but at least the field would be experience based. The upside is that it broadens the client base for selection of the winner and runners up.
