According to their advertisement it's on Oct. 24. It looks like a great party. I can't wait for them to have it here in SF or if I can muster the courage, I'll fly to NYC at the end of this month.

It's tonight @ the LURE, 13th Street, Chelsea, NYC. Does anybody know anything about this? Is this something you would want to spend your precious hours of? It's only $15 to get in, but what else do you do once you are in?

It says very clearly in both the ad and the press release that the date for HustlerBall is Oct 24th. NOT tonight. The press release (and the rest of the website) pretty well explain the event, as well.

I went to the first one four years ago. At that point it

was held downstairs in Stella's was amateurish as far as an

event. I recognized a few people from the rentboy site there,

since it was an event to promote rentboy. It may have improved

since then as they seem to be trying to promote it into a major

event ala a traveling circuit party.

 

I find it interesting that they switched the beneficiary from

an AIDS charity to Ladder 3 Assistance Fund. I understand the

need to help out a local firehouse, but AIDS charities (as well

many other charities) in NYC are not going to have problems

raising money. Then again gay money going to a general fund

shows what good citizens we are.

I asume that "not" shouldn't have been in there. AIDS charities are getting hit pretty hard right now.

 

Aid for AIDS (AFA), for example, had to cancel the Red Dress Party (their big annual fund raiser) and would be in dire straights right now if the Bad Boys Pool Party hadn't far exceeded projections.

 

Much of the money that would otherwise have gone to AIDS support or research will be diverted to either the recovery, the relief efforts, or the war. Now would be a VERY good time to write a check to your favorite AIDS charity.

Meanwhile, Back at the topic.....

 

I've attended Hustlerball at the Lure during the time that leather porn stud KYLE BRANDON was the General Manager of the club. It was a great night for hanging out and mingling with rentboys, pornstars, and those that aprreciate them. It was a really interesting mix of men, age-wise and background-wise. The setting of the club certainly skewed the population towards the Leather/Fetish crowd, but there were also plenty of suburban upscale men in to enjoy the scene.

 

It was also interesting to note generational differences in Leather/Fetish style, with the younger L/F bois taking on lots of the tribal piercing/body-art look (think of your favorite hot funky bike messenger).

 

It was also more multi-cultural a scene than I've seen here in Boston, with lots of Latino & Black men hanging out. As a Matter of fact, the hosts made it a point to mix it up with the live entertainment, with go-go dancing from some up and coming caucasian porn performers as well as from nubian studs from a black escort site featured on rentboy.com.

 

You could watch the live entertainment, & see escorts have photos taken of them for the site by a photographer whose books of male nudes grace many a gay man's coffetable. You could have your boots shined by a bootblack slave, browse around on a cpu set up to show off the rentboy.com site, pick up some interesting literature and have a liviely chat with members of NYC's SEX PANIC activist organization, and hang out with some of the men you could find featured on the site.

 

Top it all off with the Homocore music of Dean Johnson and The Velvet Mafia, and it made for one HOT evening! If I can make it, I'll be making the trip down for the night! Maybe I'll see some of you there.......
