I would appreciate some help and advise. I will be traveling to Montreal strictly as a tourist in September. I choose Montreal as I have heard that the French Canadian boys are almost beyond comparison. I also really get into the stripper bar scene. I used to make up reasons to travel to Washington, DC just to be able to go to the clubs. The men were hot and naked, and you could definietely arrange to take them home. That was in the wild 80's and I have been told that DC is now far more sedate. Would appreciate any tips regarding what's hot in Montreal; boys, clubs, even tourist spots. Besides the bars, is there an area for street hustlers. Also, how can I log onto AOL's Montreal chat forums. Have read the bar reviews and Montreal seems like it may be DC reincarnated. Finally, what are the going rates in either Canadian or American dollars. I have been told to convert to Canadian for a better deal. I tried to talk my friend into going to Rio but he is afraid of the crime, and he just got back from Spain, so we settled on Montreal. The other place we considered was Puerto Rico. Again, would appreciate any thoughts any of you guys might have.

The going rate for an escort in Montreal is about $100-150 US, though some like Niko charge $200-250. The lower rates tend to apply if you hire them for more than one hour. The bar scene in Montreal has been frequently reviewed on this message board. Try using the board's search function using key words like "Stock" "Campus" "Adonis" and "Tabou". There is also an extensive list escorts and agencies in Fugues magazine which is widely available in the Gay village.

Good choice, Montreal is a lot of fun.

There are 5 strip bars, 4 in walking distance from each other, as well as a lot of regular bars, restaurants, bath houses, all in the gay village. There is also a lot of nice sightseeing that can be done if you like.

Lapdances are 10 Canadian, which is about 7 American. Definitely convert your money to Canadian dollars. I find that ATM's up there are the best bet, seems to be the best exchange rate.

Have a blast!!

You will be pleased with your choice of vacation destination.

Check out http://www.fugues.com, and then go to the section arc-en-ciel (rainbow section). There is English translation and complete bar, sauna, entertainment, nude dancing and restraunt listings.

The Fuges printed magazine is everywhere in the Gay Village. It is 100% in French, but you will be able to figure it out.

As NYO said, lap dances are $10 Canadian. The longer you keep the boy, usually he more your get. Often they won't get hard for you until you are into the second song. Its great to be able to sample.

Be sure to be clear about what you want before you bring them back to your room. Some will do everything, some won't do much. The regular going rate is $200 Canadian (about $130-$140 US). But if a dancer has worked at the Gaiety in New York, they often expect New York type money - $300 Canadian (or about $200 US). On the other hand, I have found accomdating dancers for $150 Canadian. A freind of mine find an escort in the back of an entertainment newspaper for $100 Canadian, and had a great time.

If you enjoy the whole stripper bar scene, you will have a great vacation. Often I have to check out Campus, and then check out Stock, and I have about five guys in each place that I want to spend more time with. The most difficult part of a Montreal vacation is making decisions!

The people are nice and charming, and the food is great too.

Bon appetit!

Fugues is a definite must. Free anywhere in the ghetto. I had big luck with several of the agencies listed in the escort section (which is contrary to my experience in most places other than NYC). The operators tend to know English (which is the opposite of most of the independents), which helps in describing tall tops with big cocks. I like the dancers at Stock over those at Campus (they just seem to be more into it), but that's personal taste. Adonis is twinks, so I don't even bother. Definitely convert, and, as stated earlier, ATMs generally give the best rate. Usually, the charge was $150 to $200 Canadian. Ruta Baggage is a great B&B in the ghetto and the owners didn't seem to mind the spinning turnstile in front of my door. Clubs are Unity and Sky. Stereo is the afterhours club, if you're so inclined. Oasis is the best sauna. Milos (Greek and seafood) is my favorite restaurant and one of the best in town. Hope this helps.

Traveller;

I was in Montreal a couple of weeks ago, and as you know that scene is always changing. The new "in" club was Le Parking. It is on Rue Amherst, just South of Ste. Catherine, almost diagonal to Campus. I am not usually a "bar person" anymore, but Le Parking was kind of fun. There was a big dance floor upstairs, playing current circuit/drug music. There were lots of corridors and smalller spaces downstairs, and the smaller dancefloor downstairs was playin 80's Rock.

There was a guy giving haircuts downstairs too! Both the customer and the hairdresser were drinking at the time. I'm not sure that makes for great fashion advice.

Thanks. It's been a few months since I was up there, but I'll be returning in Oct. with the BF. Hence, it's good to know the current places to dance as I'm still chosing Option A - life.

All right. I've gotta ask. What is drug music?

PS. Sexy Beast is a great new movie. Ben Kingsley very good as a twisted hit man.

Trav;

I admit that I am no longer a club person. I am stuck in the 70s/80s, and I am waiting for the comeback of disco. (I have admited on this board before, that I am just a teenage girl, trapped in the body of a middle-aged gay man.)

Current club music doesn't do it for me. I need vocals and melody. Some of the "house-y" music today is little more than percussion tracks, with a repeated catch line, or an occaisonal scream. Its too electronic and synthetic for me. The artists are now the DJs, rather than the musicians or vocalists. (I miss Donna Summer) Some of today's club music is something that can only be appreciated if you are in a k-hole. (I haven't been there, and I'm not going.) My old music went with beer, today's music is for those on ecstasy.

Therefore I call it "drug" music. I admit, life has passed me by. If I get carded going into a club, I get turned away for being too old. I know it, but sometimes I wish I could still do the clubs like I did in my (wasted) youth.

And good luck with the BF. I hope it works out. I tried it once, but I went back to the dancing boys.

I'm sure you'll have a great time in Montreal; it's a wonderful city! Sexy men, a beautiful setting, fabulous food, and fine sightseeing. However, I did want to weigh in on a comment in your original posting, about deciding against going to Rio because of the crime:

Unquestionably there is crime in Rio, but it doesn't usually involve tourists, unless they're very careless or unwise. Rio is a city of 12,000,000 people, many of whom are very poor, and there is economic crime against those seen as wealthy. Muggings are not unheard of, but the risk can be minimized by using common sense: dressing casually and inconspicuously, not wearing expensive watches/jewelry (or imitations thereof), not carrying lots of cash or all your credit cards when you go out, not taking your wallet/passport/keys to the beach, using taxis if you're not sure how to get around (especially at night), etc. I've been going to Brazil regularly since 1983. I've walked all around parts of major cities, like Copacabana in Rio and downtown São Paulo, at the wee hours of the morning on my way back to my lodging, not looking like a Brazilian because of my clothes, haircut and body language, yet I've never had the slightest trouble. In fact, the only places I've ever been mugged in my 55 years were in NY's Chelsea and right here in San Francisco (years ago). The more lurid and violent crime you may hear about in Brazil is largely related to turf wars in the slums between drug traffickers and takes place in neighborhoods which you're very unlike to visit as a tourist. So, by all means, follow Fred and Ginger's example (and my own) by flying down to Rio on your next vacation. Just use the same care and caution you would in New York or L.A. or Miami or even certain seedy sections of Montreal!

There's crime in Rio like NYC under Dinkins. Keep your eyes open and you're fine. Just don't walk around like a touron with a big sticker on your forehead saying mug me. That said, now Montreal has a lot of lookers (as does NY, Miami, Sydney, Cape Town, BA and LA, among others), but there is no place like Rio. Been there 3 times in the last three years and heading back for New Years again this year. As I've said before, it's the world's largest candy store. Field trips there as so much fun.

Traveller:

Where is "Milos," the Greek restaurant? I have my favorite French, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Thai restaurants in the village, but I would certainly like to add Greek.

The charge at ATMs is $1.50 - $2.00 CD, I think you meant. It is $1.50 in the inside of the Place Dupuis Mall, just half a block from Stock. The ATM provided by the national bank in the downtown underground mall is totally free, so if you really want a bargain, that is the place to go. I came from McGill U, walked down the street to the first entrance to the underground city/mall, and the ATM was right there with no local charge.

Can you briefly describe the procedures / pleasures of a sauna like Oasis for a middle-aged guy? I am interested, but not sure what goes on. Is late afternoon any good? What should/would I do? What could I expect in terms of sensual pleasures? Or is it really for the young and cute only?

Thanks.

Dick,

I don't remember the agency's name, but the one I generally use is in the back of Fugues and has two columns with names and short descripts of about 10 to 20 escorts.

I always go by cab. (It's pretty well known.) You go towards downtown (the street parallel to St. Catherine away from the river) past the end of the ghetto and then right for a ways over some hilly nieghborhoods. I think McGuill University was on our left. I recall that it's about a fifteen or twenty minute cab ride from the middle of the ghetto.

No. I'm talking exchange rate. As in most countries, the exchange rate you receive when getting money from an ATM is much better than what you receive from a bank, etc. The fee is incidental. VISA also gives a good rate, but (as opposed to NYC) I haven't found any escorts up North who will take it yet.

Sat. or Sun. between 2 and 6 were very good times. (I generally like saunas in the late afternoon as a warm-up for the evening; the few times I've tried after the clubs, I'm too sketchy for hot freebies - which is why that's when it's time for escorts.) Very hot guys. You can get whatever you want sensually (or, I guess, what you're comfortable doing in a place with a bunch of roaming guys with hard ons). There were certainly plenty of middle-aged men there. Act like you expect it and you'll be surprised what you can get. Most importantly try to act naturally and don't leer.

Hope this helps.

Agree that Milos is exceptional. It's not in the village and be sure to get a reservation as far in advance as you can. Disagree on L'Adonis which has gotten less super twinky lately and sometimes has very fresh and real young men. Compares now more with Campus afternoon dancers (nightime are a little older and much beefier). I gave up on the services - tried many and never got an accurate description. I'm in Montreal frequently.

I would like to thank all of you that replied to my post about Montreal. The comments have all been very helpful and I am sure that we will have a great time. I am flying from Phoenix and will be meeting friends from Miami and Washington there. With your help, I can now be the official tour guide. I intend to dedicate a table dance to each of you that posted. (Kind of like having a Mass said for you for being so nice). If you let me know what kind of "Mass" ie what floats your boat, (body type, color of hair, eyes, smooth, hairy ect)will attempt to get a table dance in your honor.

  • 2 weeks later...

Daddy, I just got back from 4 days in Montreal. What a great time!

I went to Stock Bar (Rue St -André) for some table dancing. Sylvio, a dark Italian, was my favorite. But, he doesn't do hotel calls.

I also picked up a boy on "the block" (Rue Champlain, south of Rue Ste-Catherine). His name was Stefan. Typically, he promised the sky but was mediocre. Still fun going back onto a street again after all these years.

Finally, I called Agence Adonis (514-490-1532) and had a session with two guys (Jonathan and Kevin). That could have been my best escort experience ever. When making an appointment, be sure to ask the price including "penetration" if that's what you are into. I paid CDN$540 (US$352) for two hours with two hotties. Highly recommend. I'll be posting a review soon.

Hope the trip goes well.

Dick
