DC or Baltimore best for escorting?

Hi

 

I am new to escorting as I just started a few weeks ago. I am 20 years old and live half way between Baltimore and DC (Laurel). I go to school in Baltimore, but come down to DC to play so am familiar with both cities.

 

My question is which city should I concentrate on for finding clients? To date I have only got a few clients from AOL. Most are from Baltimore and don't seem to pay as much as the ones I have found in DC. There seems to be a lot more money in DC versus Baltimore, but I don't want to put an ad in the Blade or work for a agency. Are there any particular bars in DC that cater to clients/escorts? Whenever I go to the Nation on Saturday night I get lots of offers, but its always a hassle with parking and cover charges.

 

It would be nice if there was a normal bar in DC that catered to this in a good area for parking. Baltimore doesn't really have any bars that are good for this sort of thing.

I must confess I don't know a whole lot on this subject, but i'm always on the lookout for cute, slim young escorts. :-) I think Mr P's has always had a reputation for being a hustler bar, but I'm not sure the qulaity of the guys who hang out there. You may really stand out....which I guess might not be a bad thing. I'm curious though why you don't want to advertise in the Blade. Tell us a little more about you. :-) I live in Arlington, VA...

I think you'll find most of your business will come from the DC/NOVA area. I've been escorting for four years and can count on two hands the number of clients I have had from the Baltimore area.

 

As for bars catering to the escort scene, there really aren't any as far as I know. Mr P's and the Fireplace would be the closest. But both have a reputation of being hustler bars which to many is synonymous with street kids. In my experience I ahve found those that differentiate between hustlers and escorts don't frequent these types of bars.

Do your homework... take a look at the listings for 'Balimer' and DC: this site, escorts4you.com, rentboy.com, americanmale.net, etc. Check the local pubs... Bottom line: DC has many more escorts advertising than Baltimore. From that I deduce that DC has much more demand.... and as you point out DC has more money and business travellers etc. Between the two the action is in DC. :-)

 

For Baltimore, stick to Polock Johnny's, Little Italy and the Jewish deli section...

 

BTW I used to live in Columbia and spent many a day in Laurel shopping, dinner, movies, etc. and in Baltimore and in DC but that was a few years ago.

I visit Baltimore on a regular basis and am always looking for someone good while I'm there. So far, not much luck.

DC definitely has more money, but there is an overabundance of us escorts here now as well. You might do well to specialize in Baltimore, since a lot of us who live in DC see schlepping out to B-more for a call as a hassle.

 

Don't take this the wrong way, but... there is a difference between being an escort & being a street (bar) hustler. The only "hustler bars" I know of are Mr. P's and the Fireplace (both around 22nd & P) but the folks who are hustling there generally seem to be "street trash." Something about your post leads me to think you might be a bit more refined.

DC has a lot more business. Although DC has a larger number of escorts than Baltimore, there are not enough. I have always found DC to be one of the toughest markets for young, "twink" type escorts. Part of the problem is the age, the other drug use. Would recommend posting a pic somewhere, providing the link here, and then see what develops.

Re: Agencies, understand why you don't want to be with one, particularly since with two of them there, you have to sleep with the owner, or at least as I have been advised more than once. The Blade limits you to phone callbacks, unless you put in a web link; you could try both that and the phone for screening. Best of luck. I would be interested, zedsdead1 at hotmail.

Thanks to all who wrote, as the replies confirmed that DC really has no good bars for this scene. I don't want to go the Blade or agency route as this is not a full time thing for me. I just wanted to do it part time, maybe a few times a month at best.

I have a job at Inner Harbor for the summer, so its easier for me to concentrate on Baltimore for finding extra business.

 

I like to come into DC Saturday nights for Nation, so was hoping I could swing into the city a few hours earlier and hit a good bar to line up "business" but I guess not. I have been to Mr P's and the Fireplace, and for sure they aren't my scene.

 

The last two times I went to Nation, I received offers but by the time I park/stand in line and pay cover I am not in the mood to "work".

the fact remains that AOL is a private enterprise & by opening an account, you agree to be held to their standards whether you or anyone else would ordinarily use those standards. free speech is simply not an issue when talking about AOL & their TOS.

 

i have an AOL account, and an escorting screen name. i manage quite well without having anything sexually suggestive in my profile. why can't others be a little more creative? if someone needs to say "i like to bottom; stick your dick up my ass" perhaps he doesn't have much other than hole to offer. people, including minors, could innocently happen upon a profile like that, so, i feel that aol not only has the right to impose standards, but the obligation to do so.

I got to agree with you here. I know three guys personally who have "escort" embedded in their screen names and have survived the AOL police for years. Aaron Lawrence is one of them.

 

I also hark back to the days when AOL broke new ground by openly courting gay members. Although a lot of the early stuff (an escort bulletin board, risque if not XXX photo galleries) has since been shed, the chat rooms prove that there's still a lot of tolerance on the service if you're willing to be just a little bit discrete.

my aol screen name indicates discretely either: 1) i am an escort; or, 2) i have a penchant for male deer. it gets the point across without rubbing it in the noses of the entire online community.

 

before the big AOL-TimeWarner merger, aol was headquartered in this area (out in reston, va, by dulles airport). they did actively court the gay community. i don't think they have really turned their collective back on us, but rather have chosen to follow the middle ground & acknowledge that they do need to balance our interests with the responsibility of providing a family (in all senses of the word) atmosphere.
