Can anyone recommend the best strip clubs in Washington, DC? Wet?

Does the Follies still exist? Where are they? Thanks?

To my knowledge the Follies still exists. All ( Wet, Follies, Secrets, La Cage ) are in Southeast area of DC. Follies, Secrets and La Cage are together in the same block. Wet is a few blocks away. Secrets is only open Thurs-Sun. Each has a somewhat different variety of performers. PLEASE do not drive down there and try to park or walk more than 25 feet from the door of the clubs. VERY dangerous area. Take a cab. Cabs are very cheap in DC. One thing Congress did for us.

In the last couple of months, I have been both to WET and to Secrets.

 

WET is a bar where there are usually about 5 or 6 guys dancing nude on a U-shaped bar, wearing only sox (gotta collect the tips somewhere). The guys start at one end of the bar and work their way to the other side. At the back of the bar is a shower area (a la Splash in NYC) where some of the guys will do a little shower show, sometimes two or three together performing some erotic moves or mock sex. If you want to touch the dancers, you really need to be seated at the bar and those seats can be hard to get. It is true that some of the dancers, when not dancing, mingle with the rest of the crowd, but I think they usually stick with regular fans or friends who are there. My advice is to bring plenty of singles because it's hard to ignore a dancer who is inches away from you. WET does a nice job with their variety of guys. Some slim boys, beefier guys, with good racial diversity. How they manage the acrobatics they do without kicking over a dozen drinks an hour is a mystery to me. I don't think they do it as often, but WET used to bring pornstars occasionally. WET is attached to a club called EDGE and, when EDGE opens around midnight, the bar crowd thins out a bit. I am less certain about EDGE because I was there only at the end of the summer and these places open and close constantly.

 

SECRETS has their guys dancing on a couple of platforms, the bar and a T-shaped stage. You can just sit back and watch them or you can walk on up and slip a dollar into their socks or g-strings. They have two shifts of about 6 dancers each, who dance for about twenty minutes on and twenty minutes off. Again, they usually get a nice variety of guys there, but relatively few well-muscled guys. I used to see a big guy named Mike dance there a lot, but he hasn't been there the last couple of times I was there. But Antonio and Cody are both pretty hot, well-built but smaller guys. They have a few guys there who are hung HUGE for you size queens.

 

One advantage of Secrets is that you can pretty much concentrate on the dancer who appeals to you. If you enjoy the entertainment, be sure to tip the dancers you like. I have heard them talking to one another during the breaks that on some nights when the place is packed, their tips stink. The guys just sit back and watch. I don't know whether some guys get inhibited to approach the dancers when the place is busy, but it's a stripper bar for pity's sake. Now come on, if they don't get tips, the dancers will stop dancing and this valuable resource in the nation's capital will slip away. ; )

 

There is another big plus for Secrets. It is attached to Ziegfeld's, a drag club. The show start around 11:30 or midnight, with a break, followed by a second Even if drag isn't your thing, if you get tired of feeling your favorite dancer's inner thigh, or if you'll never grow tired of it, when he goes on break, you can always go watch one of the girls belt out some familiar tunes. I guess I like the variety. The drag show in particular attract a mixed audience.

 

Secrets is open Thursday-Sunday only. I think the dancers start at 9 PM and go to 2 or 3 AM.

 

Secrets is only two blocks from the Navy Yard Metro (Green Line - Half Street Exit). But it is true that it's a dicey couple of blocks. I would not walk it alone and when I leave, I usually try to make sure there are a few other guys leaving the club about the same time. Another note for tourists/visitors. The METRO only runs until midnight Sunday to Thursday and until 2 AM Friday and Saturday, so you have to pay attention to the time and keep enough money to catch a cab if you decide to stay past the last subway or just don't feel comfortable. You can go pretty far in DC with a $10 cabfare. I've always cabbed to WET.
