Here's another twist on the Gaiety closing rumors... these always come up in July, when many NYC men go to Fire Island and other shore areas for the weekend. Perhaps these rumors are a way to get people in the seats, so as not to miss the "last days" of the theater.

As an aside, there is a small feature article in this week's Time Out magazine on the Gaiety leading off the Gay and Lesbian section... more publicity to get people in the seats?

Just a thought. For all I know, the rumors could be true, especially in this day and age in NYC, but it is an interesting premise. Any thoughts?

It's an interesting theory, and one some of the regulars have discussed before. But maybe we're just gun-shy. Most of New York's more illicit activites have been shut down. Perhaps we're perpetually waiting for the axe to fall on Gaiety, too.

One of my friends reports that it was very crowded last Monday. And it's actually become harder to get a prime "ringside" seat on Saturday afternoon. There was nearly violence last Saturday when the regulars who sit beside the stage, by the Lounge door, arrived to find "their" seats taken. Another friend asked NYO to stop writing about this show for just this reason.

None of this refutes (and may actually confirm) your idea that these rumors are simply savvy marketing. Thank you for the information about the TONY article. I'm running out the door to get it now.

Love the description of "nearly violence" over the ringside seats. Personally, you couldn't pay me to sit in those mothers - too close and not enough elbow room (or cock room for the ever-expanding hard-on a guy could get just sitting there). Thanks for this thread because it gives me the opportunity to comment on the rudeness of many of the "regulars" who do get those seats (or any in the vicinity of the dancer). My stomach turns when there are those mass exits AFTER a dancer comes out on stage. Guys, even dancers have feelings. If you gotta get up to pee or whatever, do it discreetly and maybe between dancers. It must be demoralizing to have your best strip outfit on and come out to a disappearing crowd!

I know what you mean about the "mass exit." Personally, I wait until the break between song to go to the restroom -- or get some snacks from the lounge. I have also participated in the "mass exit" when Thomas or Jeff is going to appear onstage. But, I've always done so before either gets onstage. Both boys are beautiful, but I must concur with many of the "regular" patrons that sometimes certain performers, no matter how well endowed, give shows that lack spontaneity. It can get old, quickly, when these same performers appear -- week after week -- performing the same act. Unfortunately, the exodus has become so obvious recently that I am beginning to remain in my seat during Thomas' number. The problem is that 3 hours is just too long to remain in one's seat. Then choices must be made as to when to take a well-timed break. Often certain performers will get slighted. I agree with you that we all should be more polite to the performer on the stage, and the patrons who remain and dont want the show ruined by "bad vibes". Thanks for the Gaiety chat -- it adds to the enjoyment of the show (this week's is spectacular -- by the way).

Damn, missed this week's show. Glad to hear it was fun. I totally agree about three hours sitting - it must be hell. I never sit. Of course we all have our favorites and those who bore us. I leave myself when I'm bored, but try to do it after the first song. I'm no fan of Jeff or Thomas, but even they must feel bad when the exodus happens. The worst offenders are the guys jammed up against the stage who have to crawl over three guys to get out. Usually someone steps on someone's foot, rattles the shopping bags, or crushes one of the plastic punch cups. Oh well, if the rumors are true, we won't have to worry about being rude much longer.

Jake, you have just described me. I always step on someones toes. After much discussion, I think your right about the rumors being free publicity. Anyway, keep on writing about the Gaiety. It keeps me entertained throughout the week, and provides Gaiety with more free publicity -- and more people means more toes for me to squash (I'll try to keep that to a minimum, though). As NYO has taught me, lol :)

Damn, dude, better not let you anywhere near one of NYO's barefoot boys. The cast on his foot might throw his rhythm off.

I usually go to the Gaiety when I am in New York and enjoy the show. The men are beautiful. I don't sit it the back where it's dark because I am afraid of getting bit by a rat. Is the Gaiety a mom and pop gay owned business, or is it mafia controlled? Intuitively I feel it is a John Gotti type operation raking in the dough, laughing at us queers. Someone please tell me my intuition is wrong. Thanks

Jake - I think I've already stepped on Matthew's toes (literally), and he seems fine. In fact he's #1 on NYO's list of best dancers (he was fairly high up on my balloting). And I've fallen over Chris from Baltimore, but that's a more metaphorical falling (and who has not "fallen" over this cutie). Keep on writing - AntNee

Well, Matthew seems to have survived, so you must be watching the caloric intake. Forgot all about him in my balloting. But then I'm in a Pierre state of mind, if you get my drift.

And Pierre has just retired. All the good ones go. I'm still pissed that I missed out on "Brooklyn Joey." There's a fabulous ass for you. I've never see Tony Pitt's buttocks. I'll have to check them out. And isn't Assmaster the person who devoutly defends my current fave Dean/Voltaire/Kirk? Another hottie gone. And no replacements on the horizon -- despite the good showing this week.

Pierre just retired from DANCING only. Believe me, he's keeping up his "other" work. He's on two working mini-vacations right now. That's much too good material to go on the shelf permanently. As to Kirk, I remember Big Joey defending him pretty consistently, but maybe Assmaster also. I've only seen Kirk once and he seemed harmless enough, at least in the green room.

You'll never catch me defending Kirk.....I think he is a jerk......and a scam artist and his brother Darren too.

As for Tony Pitt's ass.......WOW.

Sorry I missed the voting....when did this happen?

My number 1 would be Chris.

Matthew is great but I think Chris has a better body and personality. Matthew would be up there....but so would some of the MTL boys like Christopher, Tristan and Pierre.

Wait till you all see LEO from Toronto......Gorgeous!

Also supposedly on their way to NYC........are Donnovan and Magnum from Atlanta......both very HOT.

Sorry, Assmaster. I'm usually half asleep when I write these things -- and I've only admired Kirk from afar. Too many bad rumors for him to be my "first" (escort, that is). And I totally agree with you about Chris. He was very near the top of my list, and after this weekend's show he probably would have made #1. Knowing we agree on Chris, I'm making a special attempt to see Tony Pitt's new site, ASAP.

Jake, it's good to know Pierre hasn't retired completely. But he will be sorely missed at Gaiety. A good friend of mine had been after him to lose the baseball cap during the show. At his "last" (public) performance he did. Unfortunately, my friend was is Paris at the time -- can't take a vacation around here.

Speaking of vacations, I leave for my "first" trip to Montreal. I am looking forward to a few "boys" profiled on this site. NYO says Alexi is not to be missed (I'll work my way up to a "dance"). Keep my seat warm at the Gaiety for me guys. And step on a few toes for me (lol, Jake).

Hey Little Antnee - have a great one. I've never been up that way myself, so you'll have to fill me in on your return. Perhaps I'll have to venture to Montreal and/or Toronto one of these days - in the meantime, there sounds like there will be a lot of empty seats at the Gaiety this weekend. If only I were into seat sniffing, I could have a ball!

i agree that chris is good; great body and very willing to please. to me, his main draw back is that i like men with more intelligence than chris; don't get me wrong, he is not dumb or stupid but that i like smart companions. i find intelligence sexy. chris is a nice kid and a good short term private. i tend to hire escorts for a weekend and that is when the companionship and intelligence come in as a main factor. also, chris still has some gay/bi/straight issues to work out and discover who he is.

my view of kirk is that if treated with kindness and firmness he can be good in return. i have had him for two weekend trips and both were enjoyable. his body is second to none; his dick is at least 8" and beautiful and he can be very sensual as well as be a good (full tongue) kisser. while not the brightest(o.k. i break my own rules sometimes), the sex can be good. kirk is working out his own sex issues, too. i think he is coming to terms with himself. yes, he can be a jerk some time and is very selfcentered (he loves to be on stage and dance as the center of attraction). he knows he has good looks and has a huge ego. BUT, IF HE WANTS, the sex can be very good. the key to him if you read my past posts is to be firm, know what you want and treat him with the respect he wants and he responds. i think too many people treat him as a piece of meat.

as an aside, matthew thinks kirk's body is the best one in recent years at the gaiety. if i had to vote for a number one gaiety dancer it would be matthew. they don't come any better than him. he is a genuine guy with intelligence to back up the good looks. he has treated me as well as any escort over the years; i think this is because he is secure in his own person and confident of himself. he is wonderful to be with and will be back at the gaiety august 14th for the week.

Big Jake, I admire both your candor and your bank account. Of all of the dancers who appear at the Gaiety over the course of a year, Chris and Matthew are the only two that I speak to on a regular basis. I really attend only for the show (there are many of us out there), and don't wish to "waste" a dancers time with smalltalk when they have other "concerns".

That said, both Matthew and Chris are genuinely friendly PEOPLE. I enjoy their company, and both seem to understand the curiously human element to working at Gaiety. They are not there only to "grind out" the bucks, and I suspect that this is the core of their popularity.

I've described Kirk here as a bitch-diva and a god. I suspect that Kirk's appeal may derive from the fact that he seems not at all "human" on stage. He presents himself as larger-than-life, and slightly ego-centric (which may account for why I want to f*ck his brains out - sorry for the lewd language, and no harm meant to Kirk. It's just a carnal thing).

Chris, on the other hand, is TOTALLY ADORABLE. I rarely entertain fantasies of settling down in a little-condo-on-the-upper-east-side (oh well, maybe that part), but Chris has a way of making me feel these things without mentioning them. I could fall for the fella. I think Assmaster is correct in his assessment of Chris. I hope both Chris and Matthew have a long run at Gaiety - or I hit the lotto. Thanks, AntNee (Keep on writing guys, I'm loving this -- Now to check out that "privacy protector" thing advertised here so HooBoy can keep the site up and running).

I have to agree with Littleantnee about Matthew. He's great. I've kept in contact with him for the last year, but I just tried him at his (443) phone number and it's no longer in service. Anyone have his new number? Did he ever move to NYC? I won't be in town to see him on August 14th.

I've never gone with Matthew or Chris. However I do think the survey was fixed. After all, New York Observer, Matthew's #1 fan was doing the tallying, and if you read his reviews, it's easy to see he carrys a torch for his beloved Matthew. Wasn't there a thread recently about having a thing for an escort? Hmmm. Kind of reminds me of Kathy Bates in "Misery". LOL. New York's rhetoric and his expressing the fact is becoming redundant. In my opinion, Chris should've won. He is a much more entertaining performer and easier chatting with him. I never talked to Matthew because he always seems preoccupied in the lounge. I also noticed he relates differently to the younger patrons than to us older folks. I don't like that too much. One night I noticed him chatting for almost an hour with a twink from the audience and never looked twice at me but knew I was standing there. I'm sure he wasn't wasting all that time lining up a potential business prospect unless he's a complete idiot. Unfortunately I've found many dancers are the narcissistic sociopath type. The extent of their conversations usually center around them.

Interesting that this has turned into a Chris and Matthew "love-in" as they are both from Baltimore and both at the Gaiety because I sent them there.

Now I ask you boys....can I pick 'em or what?

I need to find some more material like that to keep for myself.........now that all you old pervs have been "at them" I'm not so sure I want to go there anymore.....only kidding. They both are delightful young men......Chris is especially personable and very polite. I was dangerously close to falling for him big time. Luckily I'm an old slut at heart and was able to move on......and also safely away from Baltimore. Both of them are very professional and know what they are doing. The term 'Courtesan" comes to mind....and I mean that in a good way.

I have spent a lot of time with both of them.

They are numbers 1 and 2 on my recent list.

My all time fave though would have to be T.J.

I actually miss him a lot. Tony Marquis and Rocky from a few years ago also would be way up there.

Re: Leo....sorry I'll but I'm not sure when he is coming to NYC butt(woops) I'll try to find out. He is almost too goodlooking. And wait until you see Magnum from Atlanta.....oh my Gawd!

There isn't one of them though that can touch the sheer animal magnetism of Tony Pitt. If we can just get him to show up at the Gaiety you will all be in for a treat. The guy is "drop dead".

I knew the accusations of my unscientific survey being fixed would emerge. I assure you, it wasn't (not that you'll believe me). Perhaps it was influenced by my reviews, the guys who read them regularly probably like the same guys as me. I happen to like both Matthew and Chris, both were high on my list. Given the choice, I would certainly opt for Matthew, but that's not what it's about. Everybody has different tastes and interactions with the dancers. If there were only two guys to choose from, we'd all be in trouble.

AssMaster, you work so tirelessly for us, separating the wheat from the chaff, can't you please, please, pretty-please persuade Chris to make an occasional foray down I-95 to dear old D.C.?

You and others have offered so many glowing reports about the lad that the mere mention of his name gives me a raging hardon.

A weekend at a good DC hotel at weekend rates and a couple of appointments a day would be highly profitable and discreet.

Next time you have Chris' (SPROING! see what I mean?) undivided attention, and something tell me you can grab his attention very effectively, see what he thinks. If he doesn't want to escort in his own backyard that's fine, but DC is just far enough away from Charm City to maintain his privacy.

Come on, AM, give a shot, please?
