900 number

There used to be a 900 number that advertised in a lot of the mags. When you called it you keyed in the area code for the area you were in and could listen to recordings left by escorts. While expensive, it came in handy when you travelled and I met a few gems through it. Anyone know if it's still in operation? If it is, what's the number? This was a nationwide number, would also be interested in knowing if there are any regionals?

I don't know anything about that 900#, but the phone service known as 'The Number' (which is discussed over in the Lounge under the '550-1000' thread) might come in handy for you. While it's centrally organized (from Florida), the actual operation is local--i.e. they have numbers to call in many of the major US cities.

 

When you call in, you're calling a number specific to your area (no area code needed, and it's not via a 900#), and the cost is charged automatically to your phone after you give the go ahead--a fixed initial charge plus the per-minute charge. (If you run through the escorts' ads as briskly as I do, it's certainly not an expensive proposition!)

 

Alternatively, you can be a 'subscriber' by pre-charging a certain number of calls (30 at $1.00 a pop, I think) to your credit card. Then, each time you call, you enter your PIN and the appropriate deduction is made from your balance.)

 

Of course, if they don't have an outlet in the particular city you're in, none of this info will be of any use to you. But I think you're in PA, and I believe they do have a Philly #, so I thought I'd pass it on.

 

They have a customer service # (a toll-call to Fla at 954-920-7666), and if there isn't a operator available to talk to you, they'll call you back. But there's a website, too--www.thenumber.com--and you might prefer to consult that instead.

 

As I said in the other thread, I've found it to be both fun and useful as a service.

The number you are looking for is 900-740-tool. Good luck, it is very expensive and a lot of the messages from escorts are old.
